۝» Earth 2162: The Planet We Call Home OOC «۝

December 21, 2012 was the day everyone thought would be the end of the world but they were wrong. May 6, 2052, was the date of the launch of a new state-of-the-art space station known as Olympus, while the invention invention and the discovery of other planets followed. People were given the opportunity to visit Olympus while some were recruited to participate in the space program. But in December 21, 2062, not one person in the world saw it coming. A massive shift in the Earth's crust causes earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions. Those in Olympus stood and watched as their planet crumbled into chaos. On November 12, 2162, Olympus finally sends scouts to investigate Earth for signs of life, hoping that there are those who survived the incident.

Earth. 2162. The planet was nothing but a barren wasteland. Oceans became seas of dunes, jungles became little patches of grass. Major cities buried under dirt. Mankind was said to be completely wiped out from the world. A spaceship safely lands on what was left of Downtown Manhattan. Its passenger quietly hopped off the craft, scanned the desert for for life with an infrared camera but to no avail. The passenger wore a spacesuit similar to NASA astronauts, his heavy breathing fogged the helmet which connected to the oxygen supply situated in the ship by long lengths of tubing. The blistering heat that came from the sun in the cloudless sky began to punish him as it started to heat up inside, the unbearable heat penetrating through his suit.

"Is it safe to take the suits off? I'm burning." he asked, reached for the lock that kept the helmet intact to the suit. "Negative, Sparks. There is no oxygen in Earth anymore!" a voice over the Comlink replied. The man however disobeyed the orders and took off the fogged helmet. And momentarily he began to choke, losing his balance. "Damn it Sparks! J-just hang on! A medic will be there!" the voice panicked, and two medics quickly hopped out of the ship. "Sparks.. what the hell." one of the medics reached out for an oxygen mask and jammed it to Spark's grinning face. "Got you!" he laughed but immediately was knocked out from a punch by one of the medics. "Idiot."

The spaceship doors opened and came out black suited spacemen bearing guns. "Alright Panther B-1, scour the area for any signs of life. We'll be back for you in a few weeks. Good luck, over." the voice over the Comlink said as the doors shut and flew to space. The ship landed safely on Olympus space station a few hours later.

At approximately 03:09:29 November 14 2162, two days after Panther B-1 Squad was deployed, a distress signal was sent to Olympus along with the recording: "There are signs of life. I repeat. There are signs of life. We are currently holed up in an underground subway tho-" A breakthrough! Olympus gathers its trained fighters and deploys them to Earth, hoping to rescue what has remained of human life.

    Age: 26
    Gender: female
    Appearance:
    Position: Pilot
    Weapon(s):
    Ranking: Captain
Personality: Definitely rough around the edges. She barely has manners, and acts more like a man than a woman. The words young, cocky, and perhaps bitchy would describe Abbie, but not the words inexperienced or naive. She has flown every piece of aircraft currently able to fly and some pieces she rebuilt that were at least 50-80years old. Her father joked often that if a washing machine had wings and an engine, Abbie could fly it. She grew up around men; her three older brothers and her father. Abbie's mother died when she was very young. She is hard to get to know and has a figurative barbed wire fence to protect herself from those who would cause her emotional pain, but she is professional, leaving her personal life at home during her work hours.
History: Abbie grew up around the roar of a jet engine. Her father was a mechanic, and not having the money to hire a babysitter, had to hide his young daughter at work to keep her out of trouble. Once she got to big to hide, she found herself making excuses to go to the shop; her dad forgot his lunch, his wallet, he needed to take his medicine, ect. Abbie loved being that close to an airplane and the difference of engines didn't matter to her. Once she started working at the same shop as her dad, she found that she could work on any engine put in front of her.
When she turned 20, she decided not only did she want to work on the engines, she wanted to fly and she signed up to be a pilot. She passed every test with flying colors and quickly became one of the best pilots on Olympus. However, her first few years, she also became the worst at landing. She could fly anything, but landing was a whole different thing all together. After causing a number of accidents she was forced to take a six month course, made specifically for her, on landing an aircraft. After this six month course was up, she resumed flying and hasn't had an accident since.

    I have some questions
Since this rp is 100-something years in the future, who kind of technological advances have taken place? What kind of weapon advances as well?
I had another one, but I forgot it :/ lol I'll think of it later

    Name: Alexander 'Aleck' Menke

    Age: 32

    Gender: Male

    Appearance:

    Position: Engineer/Robotics Expert

Weapon(s): Range- A standard issue pistol is what he carries around, light and effective at dispatching anything that should come close enough. It's a quick-fire, easily reloadable pistol and he carries around specialized ammo to combat most situations. There's a small light on top of it for those dark encounters in the underground or should night fall.

Melee- A smallish dagger is fitted on his thigh for anything that dare come close enough, or should he miss the initial shots from his pistol. It's slick and straight as an arrow with both edges extremely sharpened for those quick slices and stabs. He's awfully quick with it, and has obviously used it before.

Ranking: N/A (Gonna Ask a Question)

Personality: Brash and brutally honest, with a touch of witty sarcasm, traits many place upon Aleck Menke. There's nothing he wouldn't say to person short of calling them something beyond terrible and truly meaning it. Despite being honest, he likes to give the truth to people he doesn't know a little at a time, instead of going all out and calling them out for who they are. He is brutally honest, but there has to be a limit to which he speaks. Sometimes honesty isn't the best thing. Of course, Aleck is a man who likes to be himself, despite how odd that can be. He's an emotional man, and he makes bonds in his relationship quicker than a person should, which can end horribly should he let it. There's definitely not much in terms of seriousness (aside from his honesty) when talking to him, as he likes to take life as he would a dream, with the intention of living it as best he could before it ends. And that requires a touch of optimism and a relaxed mind to do.

History: Born to Anne Menke and Rodrick Menke, Alexander had parents that only a child could dream of. They were pretty damn perfect; their demeanor was relaxed enough and just that right amount of strict to where he could both rely on them and consider them best friends, really. They cared about their child and raised him to be the good guy, the nice guy, and the smart one. So, to be honest, life on the station was quite easy for him. Due to his parents connections, as they worked the higher-up jobs on the station, they had a rather large amount of visitors when time permitted it, so Aleck had quite a bit of friends in his younger years. School on the station was definitely a breeze for him, as his parents tended to teach him more than what he needed to know, and even though he didn't quite get it then, it settled in and helped quite a bit in his older years.

When choosing his vocation, due to his exceptional work in high school, Alec made a gutsy choice sticking with Robotics. His parents were more theoretical in their studies, but with him, Alec had to have things up front and hands on. Working with anything electronic was a passion of his and he couldn't pass up the opportunity of a job like that, especially since it needed quite a bit more in that jurisdiction. Engineering was a required to keep a ship maintained, but only certain aspects of it,
one of those aspects wasn't robotic engineering and so not many people have decided to take up the field, especially since it required a lot of hands on work and theoretical planning to accomplish anything remotely interesting or useful. However, most things that come out of any of the laboratories in the robotics room tend to benefit the station quite a bit.

And so that's how he grew up, with the thoughts of a scientist and the hands of an inventor. Inspiration has come and gone and many things have been accomplished because of what he and many others have done. And now, Earth apparently contains survivors after the catastrophe that destroyed it a century ago. Being the eager man that he is, he was among the ones who decided volunteering was a good idea. The equipment and skills he has are more than enough to benefit any scouting team he'd be put on, not to mention he's not that bad a shot.

    Name: Julianne Sato Menke

    Age: 30

    Gender: Female

    Appearance:

    Position: Medic/Doctor

Weapon(s): Ranged- An odd thing to have on a doctor, but Julie makes sure to pack heavily with her somehow light weight shotgun, well... light enough for her to carry without dying of exhaustion on long treks--the recoil is still rather killer on the arms. She makes sure to use her ammo conservatively and waits until the last moment to shoot. Her timing is exemplary, something she's learned when touching and fixing up those wounds or anything else deleterious in the nick of time. She may not be as precise with a pistol, but the spray on shotguns helps loads with aim.

Melee-Julie carries around two military combat knives fastened to her boots. Just like the shotgun, they're rather large for a petite woman such as herself, but she can carry her weight and then some just as well as any man she works with. She makes an effort to do more than the average civilian woman, if not to prove to others, but to prove to herself she's stronger than she looks. The combat knives are ridged and extremely sharp, and since she has two, one is always expendable.

Ranking: N/A (Gonna Ask a Question)

Personality: A daunting young woman, Julianne Sato is more intimidating than she is inspiring. Of course, she's definitely inspired many people with her early work along the way. Inspiration definitely isn't a hard thing to accomplish, but her goal wasn't to inspire others, it was to show them she's more than capable to do what she pleases, and if that required a bit of gruff, then so be it. Of course, Julianne is gentle and caring when the situation calls for it and her kindness does know no bounds, though it's very well hidden by her rough and stoic demeanor. She regards life as a battle and it's her goal to win it, but should a person need her assistance or if there's a person that's in danger of being left in the dust, Julie will more than likely sacrifice her well-being for the betterment of said person. In fact, Julie has quite a cruel policy in regards to herself: there'll be no one left behind should she have anything to say about it.

History: Her parents died at quite a young age to an unknown disease shortly after her 6th birthday. It was quite a terrible experiencing having her parents quarantined and then having herself put in a safe room and cleansed, then checked at least ten times a day. They died not too long after and she was found to be the carrier of this odd, malignant disease. However, the expertise of doctors then made sure she couldn't spread it to anyone else and with at least a year of work, they soon desecrated the disease that would threaten the whole station. And now that she was an orphan, life suddenly became harder than hell, especially since many of the other children were loath to play or even socialize with her. It didn't help that she was a quiet individual.

Soon, though, a couple decided that the young Asian girl, lonely playing in the corner, would be the greatest addition to their small family. So, Julie wasn't quite alone anymore in the world, now that Anne and Rodrick Menke had taken a large sacrifice and adopted her. And, she even had a new brother who didn't give a crap about her rather recent past. It was a miracle to her and that was when she raised herself to be a stronger person, a stronger individual who would show the world having her parents die and being afflicted with a pernicious disease wouldn't stop her from reaching her dreams. Being a doctor was among such dreams, deciding she wanted a way to eradicate whatever would kill someone she cared for or a person who had others that cared deeply about them. It was noble of her to want to keep others from the pain she endured, something her new parents were proud of her for.

That was exactly what she became, one of the best doctors in the division and somewhat of a prodigy when it came to medicine, even at an early age. She was an extremely hard working woman and tackled even the hardest of problems with extreme fervor. This new project that Olympus was taking on was one of those daunting goals that she loved to accomplish. She was soon drafted to help the scouts and other partners that accompanied her should they find themselves in a rather sticky situation. And she was more than equipped to combat anything that would love to just gnash their teeth into anyone she accompanied.

((Okay, some clarification if you don't mind: are the rankings Navy based or something else, since we're in space. And is it okay to play two characters? Because if I can't, then I'll take one out. ))

    Name: Emil Knezevic
    Age: 28
    Gender: Male
    Appearance:

    Position: Tech expert
    Weapon(s):
-F-2300 assault rifle with holographic sight
-KAR40 pistol with red dot and laser sight attachments

    Ranking: Corporal
Personality: Emil is a calculating, literal thinker, preferring the tried and tested textbook approach to operations. He is level-headed and stoic in combat and can be relied upon to do his duty without second thoughts. For Emil, the mission comes first - all else is hardly a priority. He usually keeps his thoughts to himself, but is quick to lend his expertise when called upon. His interactions with his new team are mostly formal, refraining from the use of nicknames.

History: Emil has had a natural aptitude for working with technology since a young age. This led him into all sort of trouble - hacking into school computers, disrupting broadcasts and other kinds of mischief - intended or not. Throughout his schooling, Emil chose to explore his abilities, working heavily with computers. The military was also a great interest. Emil found the study of tactics and warfare enthralling. Upon his graduation from university, he signed up. Fortunately, his way with tech hadn't gone unnoticed by his superiors over the years. His abilities earned him a specialist position, and soon he found himself reassigned to a specialist squad to investigate the events of Earth.

    Ffffff. Ninja'd by Haemon's tech/computer character.

I'm so sorry! D: He's not like mega tech oriented, he's more of a robotics expert than anything else. You can be the super techie dude, if you want and I can make Aleck even more hands-on so they could have a good combo goin' on. :o He builds stuff, so yeah... if that helps any.

Hmm; I was thinking of my character being more computer-oriented, like splicing and reprogramming. He's sort of like Fixer from Republic Commando. I'd think he and Alexander could work together - Alex seems to be more focused on constructing and machinery, while Emil handles the programming and is more focused on how machines tick.

This seems interesting. Is it ok if I sorta make a Star-Wars themed character? He will be human, but will wield a lightsaber (or basically, a sword made of light that has another proper term.) Since both this and Star Wars are in the future, that was what I was thinking. Do I have your consent? Hmmm?

Sword sort of lightsaber, yes I will allow it since it's the future but no force powers please. I hate the FORCE. Don't make the too OP though, it should be to some extent, be able to break.

Oh and I've read through the CSs and I'll accept them. Sorry for Haemonculus getting ninja'd though xD I'll post my CS maybe tomorrow. I still have exams on the following day.
