Chase was contently watching as the girl tried again. However the result this time cause him to push himself off the wall. He watched as she sank to the ground, looking as if she were going to throw up. “Um... can’t say it does...” He said cautiously, eyeing her with some confusion. “Just... wait here. I’ll be right back.” At that he turned and swiftly walked out of the room. After a few minutes he returned, followed by a woman with long, flowing wavy brown hair and amber eyes who looked very much like Chase.

The woman walked instantly over to Ella and began checking her over gently as Chase hung back against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest. “It is just a reaction to the magic.” She said after a few more minutes. “You never experienced this, Chase, because you’ve been surrounded by magic since you were young. It’s a foreign feeling to her, her body isn’t sure how to react.”
“So... what does that mean?” Chase asked in return. “There’s no way she can come with me on a capture if this how she reacts to using the spells... all that will happen is that she’ll get herself seriously hurt, or worse.”

The woman nodded slightly. “Maybe Freeze is too powerful to start off with... unless of course you want to continue of course Ella Mae? It will improve with practice and time.” The woman informed her.

Ella Mae swallowed her tongue as a pretty woman with long brown hair entered the room with Chase. She considered replying with, Of course I need to continue! Chase would never let me live it down if I didn't, but she decided to keep her silence. "Umm, we don't have any other spell, right? I'll just continue with Freeze," She said respectfully, nodding her head at the older woman. She had lots of questions, and she was pretty sure they were on her face anyways. Why not ask? Because that is like, three times more personal than Chase would tolerate. He's already made it clear that you're not welcome, right? Stop prying! her brain chastised herself, and Ella Mae had to smile to keep from sighing.

"I think I just needed to rest for a second. I feel tons better now!" She said enthusiastically, although her stomach was still just a little jittery. But that was probably because of the pretty woman that looked like Chase's mother. "I'd like to try again... right, Chase? It's fine, right?" She said, looking around the pretty woman to meet Chase's eyes.

The woman nodded slightly at the question. “From what I’ve heard, yes, Freeze is the only currently accessible spell from the book.” She agreed.
Chase looked up from his spot when he heard Ella asking him a question but when he saw that she was looking directly at him he looked back down but nodded his head slightly. “So long as you feel up for it, then I don’t care if you wanna go again. Did you need me to help walk you through it again or do you remember what I told you?”

Seeing that the girl was okay, the woman stood and walked out of the room, pausing at the door and looking to her son. “Chase, dear, be nice. She’s still learning.” The woman said softly before she left the room and disappeared somewhere into the house.
Chase simply crossed him arms and turned his head slightly in a huff. He couldn’t see, if his mother was so determined for Ella to learn magic, why she couldn’t do it herself. "Whenever you're ready you can try again." He said eventually.

Knitting her eyebrows together, Ella Mae decided not to say anything on the mother-son relationship. But she did make a mental note to thank the woman afterwards. Grimacing slightly, Ella Mae pushed herself off the wall, testing her equilibrium cautiously. "I think I'm all better now. I'll try again," She said, looking towards Chase, unsure of whether he was going to respond or not. Hoping that Freeze- wait, didn't he respond last time? "Hey Chase, wait, how did last time go! I thought it was better than the time before..." She trailed off, hoping that she wasn't just imagining things.

Ignoring a small lingering wave of nausea, Ella stood again in the center of the room, holding her necklace with both hands. “Powers of Clow, I call upon you, to come to my aid. Freeze," she said solemnly, holding her fist tight to her chest as another wave of nausea forced her into dizziness. Coughing violently into her arm, Ella Mae squinted as a bright flicker of light lingered in front of her, small and glowing, before it disappeared as though it was never there. Although she was put out that it was such a small connection, she looked towards Chase hopefully, hoping that he saw it. "That was good, right?" She said, before coughing into her fist once more. Ewww, eww, I'm taking a bath when I get home...

“Yes, it was better than last time.” Chase responded in perhaps the most unenthusiastic tone imaginable. Part of it was that he probably couldn’t care less, the other part was that he hoped to god that she didn’t do this the entire time. He wasn’t a big fan of people who fished for approval or compliments and, whilst he understood that she probably merely wanted to make sure she wasn't wasting her time or something like that, it didn't mean he liked it any more. He watched passively as she began again, studying her more than he probably should have been, watching to see how she did.

When she again asked for his confirmation of her ability he sighed softly and nodded. “Yes, it was good, Ella.” He said as he stood and walked over to her, picking up the glass, drinking some of the water in it and going to collect the Clow from the windowsill. “I think that’s enough for today though, I really don’t want you throwing up or anything like that. You should go home, rest. Today has probably been really weird for you. If you want to keep practicing then feel free to do so on your own, if not then we’ll probably continue this later in the week sometime.” He just hoped a card didn't appear in between now and then...
