Perfect couple [Warm Regret and Zitacamron95]

There really wasn't much to say about Calvin, he was just a normal kid, or at least that's how he pictured himself. He was a Junior in high school and still didn't know exactly what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He had plenty of interests, but most were on the nerdy side. He loved computers and was quite good when it came to programing and fixing that kind of stuff, while on the other hand he enjoyed comic books and even drew his own little comics. He loved video games, and his favorite television shows included Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes. Most people would point him out as the nerd in school, which left him with very few friends, but that didn't bother him, he loved hanging out with the close friends he had. He only needed his one friend and that was boy that lived next door to him, they have always been friends, and Calvin wasn't sure what he would have done without him.

It was another average day in Calvin's house, he had school and had just been woken from his alarm clock. He dragged himself out of bed and glanced through he window right next to his bed to see if his friend had woken up yet. When he couldn't see him, he just decided that it was time to get ready before they had to walk to school. He always kept that window clear, no matter what, he could always see into his best friend's bedroom, which had never been that creepy for him. He finally grabbed his boxers and pants and headed into the bathroom to take his shower and get out of his pajamas. He hated mornings, they took forever and he just wasn't a morning person. He had never been a morning person and it was so easy to see in when he rarely even spoke when he just woke up. He walked back into his bed room after his warm shower to look for a shirt while he combed out his shaggy light brown hair. His chocolate brown eyes scanned the closet until he finally just grabbed one and slipped it on, a shirt that had the Batman symbol on it, Batman was his favorite hero after all.

Calvin finally grabbed his backpack and headed for the door. He hit the kitchen first and paused for a moment, as his mother had toast waiting for him. "What are you doing today, Cal?" His mom asked him.

"Well, I have work after school, at the cafe so I'll be home quite late. I'll just make myself a sandwhich when I get home." Calvin smiled as he grabbed the two pieces of toast.

"Cal, you're forgetting something." His father called after him.

Cal paused at the door and turned around, "What?"

Calvin's father held up a black plastic case that held the most important thing to Cal, his glasses. "Right!" Calvin grinned as he grabbed them and finally dashed out the door. He slipped his glasses into his pocket, it was too early to see anything anyways, he could find his way around without wearing his glasses anyways.

Randy wasn’t like most boys his age. While it could be argued that many high school students felt like outcasts, Randy was almost certain there weren’t any other local kids quite like him. You see, Randy was gay and everyone knew it. It wasn’t like he wanted everyone to know but it was pretty much impossible to keep something like that a secret in the small town they were from. For one, the opposite sex was much too comfortable around him and while many of the other male students in his class were into girls, cars and sports, Randy was more into art, shopping and fashion. Despite his peculiar tastes and behavior there was one person with whom he had shared interests, his best friend Calvin. For the most part, he had a small circle of friends but none closer than Calvin. While he wasn’t as big a fan of comics and video games like his best friend, he was known to pick up a comic or two and even helped with the art in some of Calvin’s comics at times. Randy also had a fondness for certain video games, mostly those where he was able to keep up with Calvin. They had been friends for as long as Randy could remember, not only that, there was a one sided crush that existed in their relationship, one that Calvin was too oblivious to notice.

Rummaging through a nearly empty refrigerator, the High School student wore a pair of black slip on boat shoes, grayish black skinny jeans and a red and gray striped hooded sweater. Instead of wearing the hood over his head, he partially wore a knitted gray hat with two long tassles that came down to his chest. The light weight hat didn’t cover his entire head, a tuft of dirty blonde hair was left exposed where his hair line began. ‘Moooom! We’re out of food!’ He called while searching the shelves with gray blue eyes. He could hear an indistinct groan come from his parents room, apparently his mother didn’t appreciate being woken up so early in the morning. His father hadn’t gotten home yet, which was just fine with Randy, seeing as how they didn’t exactly see eye to eye. With a sigh he decided to give up on his search for food. There didn’t seem to be anything other than condiments and half a bottle of soda anyway. Heading back into his room he grabbed his backpack and slipped it on, peeking out of his window and into Calvin’s bedroom. From the outside looking in, this sort of behavior could have been considered creepy but since their entire lives was spent this way, neither of them thought twice about it. Since Calvin wasn’t in his room, Randy assumed he had already left hise house, so Randy did as well.

Running out of the house, he called to his mom. ‘I’m leaving!’ He said in a rush while shutting the door behind him. He didn’t bother waiting for a reply because he was sure there wouldn’t be any. Stepping out into the cool air, he immediately spotted Calvin and smiled, jogging up beside him. ‘Aww you brought me breakfast? How sweet.’ He teased playfully. Stealing one of the partially eaten slices of toast from his friend, he took a small bite. ‘Ugh, who thought it would be a good idea to have math as a first period class?’ He said with a frown. ‘I know Mr. Mahon is going to quiz us tomorrow…’ He said as he turned to look at Calvin while they walked. Playing with one of the tastles of his hat he continued. ‘Can you help me study tonight?’ He asked with concern yet his mannerisms were somewhat flirty. He hadn’t realized it but it was something that he did quite often when it came to asking Calvin for a favor.

Calvin glanced at Randy tiredly, he figured something of the sort would happen. He just allowed his friend to take the toast, it wasn't like Cal ate much of a breakfast half the time anyways. The boy didn't really feel hungry in the mornings and waited until he was starving during lunch to actually eat a better meal. He really didn't believe that breakfast was the most important meal or that it helps with school in some way. He hadn't heard anyone actually prove such a thing or bring up actually proof that it worked and he already did quite well in school that it really didn't matter to him to actually miss breakfast. He really didn't mind it that Randy took a piece of toast, and he probably would have offered one if he hadn't taken one. They had been friends for a long time anyways and it didn't seem too different to him that they shared food and all that. He was too busy with other things on his mind to actually think too deeply about anything anyways.

When Randy started to talk about math, they weren't even at school yet and he was bringing it up already. Math was a good subject for Calvin, well actually, every class was a good subject for Calvin. The only time he actually got lower than a B in a class was anything to do with PE, he still passed, but he wasn't a person that did well in any sports. It didn't matter if it was a team sport or and individual sport, he just sucked at them. That was his freshman year though, so now it was all fine and everything was going a lot better. Okay, so it wasn't so good, he did always have that issue of being heavily bullied, not that he actually cared that much about it anyways, it was hard to break Cal, he always seemed to either say some really sarcastic comment back or just didn't react at all. It didn't seem to stop many people, and it did leave him injured a few times, though most of those times were when he was standing up for his best friend.

There had been many times where Randy wasn't around and someone would start talking about 'that gay kid' and Calvin couldn't help but stand up and say something. The last time it happened was last year, when he ended up talking back to one of the football players. In the end, Cal was the one that ended up with a broken arm and week worth of detentions, though he was quite pleased with himself to actually break the football player's nose. He refused to actually tell Randy what exactly happened, and with all the different rumors going around, it was hard to tell what the real story was. When Randy asked about studying, Cal looked at him and nodded, "Sure, I don't have anything to do anyways."

They finally entered the school and Calvin walked towards their lockers going to grab everything he needed before slamming the door shut, "We could go to some place to get dinner after work and study there." Calvin was too busy looking through his bag to even realize that he probably shouldn't have said something during school. He normally didn't really care about what he was saying, since he never worried about what a lot of others thought about him. He just looked down in his bag and waited for an answer from his friend, even if others heard what he had just said.

"Is geek boy and Randy finally going on a date together?" The guy teased as he stopped in his tracks with his group of friends right behind him. They were Calvin's usual tormentors, so most of the time he just ignored them.

"And is there something wrong with that?" Calvin asked back. When the whole group stopped laughing at the other boy's silence, Calvin glared at them. "I didn't think so, now mind your own business and pick on someone who actually gives a rat's ass."

The guy must have been one that was easily tempered as he shoved Calvin against the lockers before they finally went. Cal rubbed his shoulder, knowing quite well that he would end up with a bruise and sighed, "I hate this school."

Pleased that his friend agreed to help him study, his mood changed ever so slightly and a smile crept onto his face. ‘Cool!’ He remarked with newly instilled confidence. ‘I’m sure I can pull at least a B minus with your help. Thanks Cal.’ He added with an alluring smile. Secretly, he was a little jealous of Calvin because he was so good when it came to their studies, however it wasn’t enough to interfere with their friendship; if anything he felt he was lucky to be friends with someone so bright. Academically, Randy could be categorized as an average student. His grades consisted of mostly C’s and B’s. Perhaps it was the fact that his home environment wasn’t as nurturing at Calvin’s or maybe he just didn’t apply himself well enough but he wasn’t flunking anything so he was satisfied with that…although he was getting dangerously close in Gym. Sports were just not his forte and the fact that everyone knew he was gay didn’t make things easier in the locker room. He was grateful that he had Calvin though, he didn’t think he could have made it this far without him.

His true talent lay in non academic courses. He was very creative. He excelled in anything that had to do with arts and crafts, music, poetry, acting, even cooking and not to mention fashion. He even had his own little section in the school paper a few times about the latest trends. But genuine book smarts was something he lacked and was one of the many things he liked about Calvin but of course he had never told Calvin this. He didn’t want to jeopardize his friendship with Calvin by telling him that he liked him…more than as just a friend. After entering the school, Randy mimicked Calvin, exchanging a few things in his locker that he would need for the first half of the day. "We could go to some place to get dinner after work and study there." Calvin suggested. Randy smiled and gave Calvin a secret glance from his adjacent locker. Randy had to switch with three other people in order to get a locker right next to Calvin’s…a secret he was prepared to take to his grave.

‘Ok…’ Randy replied with a smile, doing a good job at hiding his enthusiasm for spending time with Calvin. ‘Why don’t we go to Joe’s Pizzeria and split a pizza after work then?’ He responded while clutching his books to his chest. With all the students walking around behind him, he too failed to notice Billy Thompson and his friends approach them.

‘Why don’t you just leave us alone Billy!’ Randy said to the other kid as he walked off but it wasn’t enough to get him to turn around. Randy frowned and looked at Calvin as he rubbed his sore shoulder. ‘Are you OK Cal? Should we go to the nurse?’ He asked, looking rather upset. Calvin’s courage was the thing Randy liked most about him. He didn’t back down from anyone and always stuck to his guns but by doing that, Calvin usually got hurt and Randy was left to worry. ‘He’s an idiot…next time just ignore him…but thanks…’ He said softly, letting his eyes fall. There was the tiniest hint of red in his cheeks as he lifted his eyes to meet Calvin’s. ‘Pizza’s on me OK.’ He said with a small smile. Just then the bell rang, signaling they only had a few seconds to make it to class.

Calvin shook his head when Randy showed concern for his shoulder, "Don't worry about it, it's probably just another bruise." Cal was used to those and much rather preferred it when his parents didn't know about them. His mother was one to freak out about any kind of injury he got from school and it took way too much effort to convince her that it was nothing and she didn't need to go to the school and talk to the principal. His father would get really mad when Calvin tried to play off any of his injuries as accidents and there was no reason to worry at all. He always accused Cal of lying in this subject, because they always seemed to know when he was lying about where he got a certain bruise or any other wound after school. It didn't stop him from trying to lie about them, but most of the time it just didn't work at all and he was stuck explaining what happened and having to convince his parents it was nothing to worry about.

Before Calvin could respond to their dinner plans the bell rang and he had to get to class before he got in trouble for being late. Calvin was always on time and would never take being late, even if he had a few chances to just be late before he got a detention. He really just hated being late for anything, so he wasn't going to start now. He quickly checked to make sure he had everything, "Alright, well, I'll see you later, Randy. I've got to get to class." Calvin quickly headed to his first class, which was his English class, he was ready to finally get this day over with, it didn't start out right and it was definitely going to continue down a path of irritation and possibly trouble. He wasn't one that started this trouble, it was others that started it and expected him to respond and Cal could only do so much to hold himself back before he finally just exploded and had to do something about it. Normally that's when he was hit by someone.

During English everything went by fast, the teacher came in took attendance then gave them their assignment. There wasn't really much to be taught, and Cal already knew what he was doing so he just continued to work on his assignment while the teacher taught the others what was going on. When homework time finally came, Calvin was already done and was drawing for a little while until the class was over. The kid behind him though continued to poke him in the back sharply with the end of a pencil and ask what he was drawing. Calvin tried to ignore the boy, and as it continued it started to become more teasing and telling him how bad of an artist he was. Finally the hour was over and Calvin got out of that place as fast as possible, to his next class before something else could happen. He sat up front in his next class and while waiting for class to start he decided to read instead of worrying about his drawing.

The mention of another bruise caused Randy to frown but he decided not to pester Calvin about it just yet. After the bell rang, Calvin mentioned how he had to get to class. Randy smiled a soft smile and nodded. ‘Ok, see ya later then.’ He responded as he watched his friend hurry off to English class. With a sigh, he turned and headed to his own class, it was one of his least favorite subjects too…Math. He didn’t move quickly because he wasn’t in much of a hurry but he didn’t have far to go either, it was just around the corner. He found his seat shortly after the bell rang and sat next to Alexa Reed. Mr. Mahon was still getting his daily planner together while the class chatted amongst themselves.

‘Hey Randy.’ The brown haired blue eyed girl said with a smile. As she turned to look at him, her ponytail flopped from over her shoulder. Everyone thought she was cute, maybe a little on the short side or perhaps that was what added to her cuteness.

‘Hey Lexa.’ Randy replied with a smile of his own.

‘Did you watch American Idol last night?’ She asked while leaning her head to the side.

‘Yeah…It was ok, I don’t know about some of those song choices though…’ Randy responded while tapping his jaw with his pencil.

‘What did you think about that Mario guy?’ She questioned.

‘Oh! The tall one with all the tattoo’s? He’s hot right? I may have to start stalking him.’ Randy said playfully and they both laughed.

‘Really? Then what about Calvin?’ Alexa asked with a grin.

Randy laughed again but this time sounded somewhat nervous. ‘Calvin and I are just friends, that’s all... ’

Alexa smirked and gave Randy a weird look.

‘What!?’ He said in protest, with the tiniest hint of a smile in his expression. Alexa was almost positive Randy had a crush on Calvin, however she never pressured him about it. Teasing on the other hand, was fair game.

When the lesson began, Randy did his best to pay attention but Math was so boring and all those equations were making his head spin. Soon his mind began to wonder and he questioned why Math seemed so much easier when Calvin tutored him rather than getting a proper lesson from the instructor. Sitting there with his head propped up in his hand, he continued to have thoughts like this while absently doodling Calvin’s name in his notebook, surrounded by hearts, stars, flowers and other silly drawings until the bell rang, yanking him back into reality. ‘Oh shoot!’ He quickly looked up at the blackboard to copy the homework assignment while forgetting to black out the drawings he made earlier.

He made it through half the day without much incident. There were only a few classes left until the end of the day and he found himself looking forward to work after school and then dinner with Calvin. Spotting his friend in the hall between classes he quickly made his way over to him. ‘Hey Cal…’ Observing the look on his friend’s face he offered a compassionate smile. ‘I would ask you how your day is going but it’s kinda written all over your face. Don’t worry, the day’s almost over...’ He said in a reassuring voice. ‘Come on, I’ll walk with you to your next class.’
