The man finally found it and pulled it from it's resting place before walking back over to Veronika and offering a somewhat shy smile. "Whether one should or shouldn't, it's been a fact for some years ... however," he gave pause as she took the book, "since you seem so insistent - how can I really say no?" Myles had to admit that her interest was definitely contagious as he started to focus a bit more on her each passing moment. It had been so long since someone was so determined to spend time with him and it was certainly odd - but it was more comforting than it was alien. Besides, it was honestly hard to imagine how she had gone this long without a boyfriend, even if she was a bit nerdy (which most people thought of as negative, but it was absolutely a compliment when Myles thought someone was nerdy). "Do you plan on hanging around until then?" he asked with a smirk, fully aware that she had seemed to be tagging along as he searched for the gift. It was flattering and even made him blush a little.

If only they were so lucky. They almost made it out of the club, but as they say, 'close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.'

Just as the pair was reaching the doors of the club, a commotion was building up around the bar that they were just at as a giant hole appeared to give the mysterious woman a healthy amount of room. People even started to gasp and file out of the club, pushing the two out of the way as they did so. If they looked back, it would be obvious why as sparks of electricity started to form in the woman's hands. "Fuck! No one told us she could do that!" One of the apparent cops pulled out what looked like a taser while the other one held his hand up with the palm opened towards the woman who was now arcing electricity wildly around her.

Suddenly a giant pulse of some strange shockwave pulsed out from the man's hands as the cartridge shot out from the taser and hit the woman. Now, one would expect that she would've fell to the ground twitching, but instead she just concentrated whatever energy she was controlling into the cartridge and within moments it seemed to discharge harmlessly. It was wasted. By this time the club had nearly emptied and only by sticking around would the two ever find out what happened next.

    Suggested listening,

    http://youtu.be/Q-pXD0FXLQ8

Gene sat his eyes focuses on the slow drip of the sink in the corner of his cell. He was on the edge if his little cot of his single ocupant cell. The walls were a blanched and chipped white, the four walls had no windows for a single covered one on the door. He had no effects and was allows no writing utinsals or paper save for a small leather bound bible. He spent his hours pouring over the details of his last few days if freedom. What few additional details he had came from intently listening in on guards talking in the hall.

He flipped open his bible, and biting down on his finger, he began to sprawl down every derail in his own personal, "ink". He would suck his finger for a moment before sprawling in it again. Was it a major sin to write in a bible in blood? Perhaps.. but he had a feeling that given current circumstances, he may be given a pass. How long would he pour over the details, how he could be sitting in the terminal waiting and at the baggage claim at the dame time. He woudk think, " if only I had a witness.. any witness." And then his mind would wander back to the scene of those poor souls he saw on the plane.

He closed his eyes in reflection as he heard the cell open. He stood back as usual for his pat down. He watched as they went through his cell for contraband, though he had no contact with the outside or inside for that matter. One of the offices left but a female officer stayed looking over the bible,

" this is well worn." She said before flipping it open. The look at first was one.of disgust, but as she read she looked up at him, seeing him look away, feeling caught. She closed it, sliding a pen inside as she set it down. " your very.. observent." She said as she started to guide him out, " I know other.. approved reading you may like to try." She said with a soft smile.

He nodded and thanked her softly as he was guided down the cell block to the yard. He squinted slightly as he saw the sun for the first time in a week. No sooner then he entered the yard and the guards turned.. he saw them. A group of fifteen to twenty men. He hardly had time to react before he felt himself on the ground. He could feel their fists and feet dig into bone and flesh. His breathing was shallow as the guards pulled men away. His eyes focused one last time on a fly, landing on the back of his hand. He gave it one of his trademark smirks as e felt the foot on his neck.

Ten minutes later, two guards drug him by his feet out of the yard, blood still running from the.corner of his mouth. The news said it was an ironic death and he was cremated and durried to no fanfair or service. He would rest there for only twenty years or so before the spot was cleared out for another occupant, the unwanted remains discarded in what would become a reclaimed landfill. The majority would.become a lovely park, but the simple plastic container that housed his remains could be found 200 feet below the parking lot.

Clara grabbed James' hand as they headed for the door. She was about to mention that she had a vehicle right about the time when the cops that had entered were throwing and... sparks were flying? Sparks?! Really?! Clara began to sprint for the door, much like the other patrons, keeping a tight grip on James'hand and leading him to her car, unlocking the door and quickly telling him to get in. She turned the ignition over with little trouble and pulled out the parking lot, heading towards the general direction of her apartment, looking in her rear view mirror. SHe sighed loudly as she realized no body seemed to be following them. Especially cops. She sunk back into her seat at a red light, looking over at James. "Sorry about that. I haven't had the best experience with cops today. And before you ask, no I'm not on the run." Clara flipped down her visor and checked her face, noting the her dark circles were starting to show. As the light turned green, she reached for her cell phone, noting that it was mostly charged. "So, James. Now that you have me as your personal driver, where is it you are staying?"

Veronika smirked as he passed her the book, it widening into a full fledged grin when he finally succumbed to her request, even asking if she was going to stick around in an almost hopeful tone. "Well, I suppose I could hang out for a while, if you don't mind."She had begun to walk towards the front of the store, but spun on her heel to flash him another smile. She wasn't sure why she was so smiley all of a sudden but she didn't seem to be able to control it. A chill ran up her spine and she rubbed her arms through her coat."Do you have any heat in here or are you just immune to it? Seriously. I feel like I'm in an igloo." She casually walked around the counter to the seat in which he had been sitting before and sat down, crossing her lean legs in a very feminine fashion."A well decorated igloo." she added, not having meant offense to him. Veronika added a wink just for good measure.

He held on to her hand tightly as they raced for the doors. He'd seen something. Maybe some kind of electrical weapon? a freak accident with the main power? He didn't know. He didn't care. All that mattered to him was getting her somewhere safe. Away from whatever was happening here. And away from the danger of being trampled by the panic stricken crowd behind them. They both moved fast, shoving the doors open and heading into the street.

Moments later they reached a car. She unlocked it. And they started to drive away.

    And she was safe.

He noticed her sigh. He looked at her with compassion and concern showing in his eyes.

"Are you alright? Did you get hurt?"

She mentioned having a bad experience with the police. And he remembered there were police officers in the club. He was going to call 911. But they must know already. She jokes about not being on the run.

"I don't know. For a minute back there we both were".

And then she asked him where he wanted to go in a playful tone.

He was surprised she wasn't in shock, even a little. Or maybe this was her way of trying to deal with it?

    He smiles at her.

"I have a room at the Kimpton Eventi. The hotel isn't far from here. And it's a really nice room."

"Really?" he asked with a playful smile, motioning to the chair that had been his only a few minutes ago. "Really? Thief.." It was obvious that he was teasing as he shook his head, sure to smile before he walked over to the thermostat and bumped it up a bit to force the heat to kick on. At that, he turned back and jumped onto the counter, swinging his legs over it like she had before - effectively switching her spots. "Stole my chair and forced me to turn on the heat when it's burning up in here," he again teased, gesturing towards her like she had offended him somehow, but it was hard to imagine that she had due to the smile and tone of his voice. "Now my costumers are going to be complaining.. and I'm going to point right at you!" It seemed that her smiles and especially the wink sparked something in the man as he started to obviously flirt with her boldly.
