Somewhere in America lies a school for gifted young men and women. Not only are these people gifted with strength or intelligence, but magical and spiritual ability as well. This school, Orchids Academy, helps these youths to hone their abilities and use them properly. However, corruption in the administration has led to a structured hierarchy among staff and students alike, creating an atmosphere of strife and agitation. Battles break out, and lives have been lost. To prevent further loss, a yearly tournament was set up. Any wishing to participate would battle in rounds, until a champion was crowned, and given special privilege in the school. This is the Orchids Bout. The ultimate test of power and control. Another year arrives, and with it, the Orchids Bout begins again. Who will win? who will fall?

Now then, with the battle element of this rp, players must expect, accept, and concede to defeat at some point. we can't have battles going on forever because nobody wants to lose. But the basic structure of this rp will be as follows. I, as GM, will initiate the story. after that, characters may interact and take action in an open environment. When I feel the time comes, I will initiate the next part of the story, be it an event of the Orchids Bout, or something else of significance. When I do so I ask that we all participate in these sections, as they can further add to plot and character development. Also, Romance sub plots are accepted warmly. Students are categorized into levels. Grades 1-4 Are Level 1, Grades 5-8 are level 2, and Grades 9-12 are Level 3.

I will be creating other characters as needed. any non important or certain story important "NPCs" may be taken by anyone who wishes to do so. Story important characters may only be given if I feel you will use them for their proper role. not to say you cannot be free with these characters, but try and keep them within the plot explained when the character is given. Also, multiple characters are allowed, so if you get bored with one character you may use another in the same post. Just don't get confused, post seperate dates for each character unless two of your own are interacting or at the same place and/or time.


Posting must begin with a date. this date must be within the current day as determined by my most recent post. Otherwise they may be set in any point throughout that day. On your first post please post a schedule for your character using the example in the IC OP. Roleplay can take place during classes, between, or in free time. When the time comes for some story driven stuff you'll know, same when The Bout begins.

A few final notes. The schools grades are structured like American School, So remember this when creating your character. This includes grades 1 to 12, however level 1(grades 1-4) characters are to be support or otherwise only. Kids don't belong in battle :P. Powers are limited to reasonable terms, meaning no overly powered mary sues. No weapons are allowed, as these characters will have physical and extra-physical abilities. Magic users should base their spells and such on basic knowledge elemental magic. You don't have to, but it's easier for everyone to work with as it's so widespread. Also, please don't join unless you're willing to stay with it. I don't want people joining up only to quit halfway. And finally, have fun, write clearly and properly, and above all, use your imagination to it's fullest.

Bio: Verran was born in London, England, and lived quite the normal life. That is, of course, until his eighth birthday, when he discovered he had the ability to create and manipulate electromagnetic fields. After playing around with this newfound power he stumbled upon a way to use it as a weapon. Utilizing what is known as the railgun effect, he can rapidly accelerate metal objects by creating a linear electromagnetic current between two fingers. by age thirteen his parents sent him to Orchids, where he learned to further control and grow his powers. Verran is a confident, outgoing person with little fear. He is strong willed and never backs down from a challenge.

Bio: Like her Older brother, Alicia was born in London, England. She was always very close to Verran, even after he was sent to Orchids. Soon after this in fact, she developed the ability to change the temperature of the water molecules in the air around her therefore changing it's form. She quickly found she could create anything from sharp and lethal Icicles, to boiling gases simply through will. However she wasn't as adept as her brother, and would occasionally overdo it and expend her energy. At age 13 she to was sent to Orchids, where she trains with her brother in the hopes of one day besting him in the Orchids Bout.

She uses what seems to be guns, but upon closer inspectioin it is revealed they fire magic instead of ordinary bullets. Because of this she is allowed to use them in the Bout. She participates every year, and despite making it to the semifinals every time, she always forfeits. Noone knows why.

Ability(ies): Tobi has the ability to move, shape and otherwise manipulate any metal and metallic substances, allowing him to make weapons, armor, or even floating metal platforms. This ability requires great mental strength to do anything large and complicated, and without a lot of strength mentally and physically you could be rendered unconscious if you were to push yourself too far. This is not to be confused with Magnetism Manipulation, as Ferrokinesis can affect all kinds of metals whether or not they are magnetic. The metals that are controlled by this power are still susceptible to the elements. Water will rust certain metals, and fire could melt it if it is hotter than the metal's melting point. Electricity would still be able to conduct through the metals, and magnetism will still affect it. The power of Ferrokinesis can only manipulate the metals, it cannot change it's elemental structure.

Bio:
Bio: For all Tobi knows, he was born an orphan. All of the life he knew as a child was the life he spent at Mrs. Opal's Orphanage with six other children. The only details he knows of his birth was that he was born on a hot summer day in the middle of July. His parents took him to this orphanage and left him there without a second glance. The woman who ran the orphanage accepted Tobi with open arms, and was very kind to him and his family. The woman told Tobi that the only thing his parents left him was his blood and name.

At the age of seven, Tobi discovered he had a strange ability which made him just like the super heros he saw on his favorite television shows. Excited for his new discovery he rushed over to the owner, or Aunty Opal as he called her, to show what he discovered. Mrs. Opal watched with wide eyes and rushed forward to clasp his hands to hide the iron nail that was floating mid-air and distorting in shape. Tobi asked what was wrong. Mrs. Opal shook her head and reassured him that she was very happy for his discovery, but she wished that he kept it their little secret. Tobi was just a child, and with Mrs. Opal as his mother-figure it was obvious that he would just smile and nod.

Later that night, after curfew, Tobi was roaming the empty hallways of the orphanage as he liked the peaceful stillness the night hours offered. As he passed Mrs. Opal's bedroom, he could hear a muffled sob and talking from the other side of the door. Pushing the door open a crack, Tobi let his curiosity get the best of him. Who knows if Tobi was lucky or unlucky to hear what he had heard that night. Either way, it had broken Tobi up on the inside and he fled from his home as fast as his little feet could carry him. Mrs. Opal, the loving mother to all the orphans, no matter who they were, was on the phone that night with the police. Tobi knew what would of happened if he had stayed. Police would have charged through the door, guns blazing, and would have torn him from his home to take him away. Well, to his over-exaggerated imagination that is what it would have seemed.

A small child roaming through Seattle in the middle of the night was suicide, at best. Cold and miserable, Tobi huddled in an alleyway against a large dumpster that hid him from sight. Tears in his eyes, he cursed his powers. He wished he had never discovered them. If not for them, he would still be at home with his family. Hearing footsteps coming down the alleyway, Tobi froze where he sat. He suddenly realized the time it was, and the dangers it proposed. Looking around desperately, Tobi looked for a better place to hide. Noticing the dumpster had a gap between it and the building it was next to, Tobi quickly slid behind it and held his breath. The steps were getting closer and closer and it seemed they were going to pass. Then the sounds of footsteps stopped. Right in front of his hiding place.

A man called out his name. Tobi's name. It was all over, he thought, the police that Mrs. Opal had called had found him. In despair Tobi lashed out verbally. Cursing the man, telling him that he was going nowhere. To leave him alone. The man continued to speak, in a calm sympathizing voice. He assured Tobi that he was no police officer, but instead he was someone from a school called Orchid's Academy. A school for special people like him. Special. Tobi suddenly hated the man even more. He didn't want to be called special, he didn't want any sorts of praise for what he was. He screamed and denied that he was anything special. Yelled at the man to go away, over and over. Each time he shouted, the dumpster Tobi was hiding behind lurched. The man asked Tobi to calm down in the same voice he had previously. He refused to leave, even while Tobi was throwing his tantrum.

Snapping, the dumpster flew deep into the alleyway and Tobi rushed at the man with a glass bottle in hand. The man simply stood there, and caught Tobi's arm as he swung the bottle in the man's direction. Having being stopped, the past exertions on his powers finally rushed past Tobi's adrenaline rush. Tobi went from looking at the man in the eyes with hate and anguish, to seeing nothing but black and laying face-down on the cold alleyway ground. Next time he awoke, Tobi was at Orchid's Academy. Ever since then, Tobi has been living at the academy all his life. Every year he spent in the school, he has been avoiding the Bout, purposefully forfeiting matches and standing lower and lower in the school's hierarchy that formed over the years. He never wanted to fight other students, he just wanted to live on. He let those whom wanted to feed their ego become top-dog as Tobi knew soon enough those whom stand closest to the sun are quickest to become burned.

Bio: The first thing Lilli will introduce herself with 8/10 times will be 'Hi, Lilli Malone, Lesbian'. She likes to leave an imprint on people, an impression that makes her different from the rest of the crowd. She doesn't want to be like every other person, so she does things that are quirky and out-of-the-ordinary for most people. She plays the banjo, along with other string instruments, different styles of drums (bongos, drum kit) and can play lovely tunes on the harmonica. Lilli writes songs about murder and sex in every single detail, and likes to set fire to her clothing for a 'new look' after she gets bored of them. Most of these surprise people, but she's just a little quirky. She enjoys what she does, so why should it bother anyone else?

Lilli was adopted when she was two, and her adopted parents divorced when she was eleven. She still lives with her mother, who believes everything Lilli does is a phase she'll grow out of. His own emotions can overtake him at times, and although he can deaden pain to himself he is still injured and can push himself too far if he can't feel it.

Bio:Jacob lived a fairly normal life, he was an only child and his parents made average middle class money. Then when he was 12 years old his powers first showed themselves. His parents were fighting over something, he can't even remember what it was about now, but as they were fighting Jacob was there since it was dinner time and he was very scared. Then something weird happened, his parents became scared as well, scared of just anything really. This made Jacob confused and then they became confused as well. Confused about why they were fighting and what was going on. Jacob took a deep breath and centered himself, then everyone returned to normal. He wasn't sure how they found him but shortly after that he got a letter from the school. Now after 4 years he has become quite good at manipulating others

"However... theres some drawbacks. My immortality... is IMMORTALITY, not invincibility or massively enhanced regeneration. I am as fragile and delicate as any person.
The real whacky bit is... Say I get my guts splattered across the opposite wall, but survive and not die. It will take a week or so for me to get better again. BUT If I die right then and there, I could take around a mere five minutes to come back to life. The amount of time It takes for me to come back from being killed depends on the amount of damage the killing blow has done to my body. Say If I just stabbed once and died, I would be back in say less than a minute. But If say my body is blown apart by a grenade, It could take minutes and sometimes hours for me to come back."

"This will be ungodly long if I actually did a complete bio. So let me just stick to the most important event in my short life (yes It's short).

That noteworthy event would obviously be the moment I claimed timeless existence. It was actually more like an accident than anything planned. I was seperated from my parents during a trip. Took a wrong turn at the junction or maybe I tripped and fell into a hole or something, but whatever I did to get me lost was the fateful event that should have got me killed. I'ts no question, I WOULD have definitely have been killed in those woods... but I didn't
Three days passed, I was hungry, tired and extremely thirsty. I was lapsing in and out from consciousness, balancing right on the line between life and death. I should be dead, but I was stubborn I resisted the urge to just let my life go and relax in everlasting rest. But I was a lost cause, I couldn't save myself. Though I may not be able to save myself, someone could, and did.

My vision was blurry but I can distinctly discern extremely long pale, almost silver hair. And when the person spoke, she did so in a characteristic, barely feminine voice. She cradled me in her arms, and gave me something to drink, It was bland and tasteless but it wasn't water. I didn't even feel refreshed or rehydrated at all after that, though I still nevertheless thanked my savior. Not so much as a knight in shining armor, but a dame with shining hair. I passed out shortly after that.
When I came to, I was there, alone in the woods. However, now I did feel refreshed. And beside me was a note and a compass. The note was written by the person who saved me as it seems. It detailed how I could get out of the woods and where to find the nearest town. I did got out of the woods and into town. Only to find out that both my parents have been killed by bandits. Now you could imagine how much sorrow and anguish I felt at that time.

I searched for that person who saved me, but I was unable to find her anywhere, rumors has it that she's a ghost that haunts the woods. But I knew for certain that she wasn't. I lived my life as I saw fit from then till now. I found out that I did actually die in the woods there. It marked the end of my short life...

And the beginning of my Long one."

Bio: Elliot grew up in a very (very) rich family. He was very popular at his academy and had many friends. Coming from a rich family, he was able to have almost anything he wanted whenever he wanted. The perfect life for a spoiled child. His mother and father favored him over his three younger siblings. His parents (and everybody around him) fueled his ego daily. He was the best in his fencing class, the best in his academics, the best in nearly everything. One day, however, during a fencing match between another star pupil he was losing, and badly. Frustrated, something overcame him and a bolt of electricity shot through the foil, striking his opponent and nearly killing him. Elliot's family was incredibly shocked and banished him to the streets, out of their household for being "evil" or in their words, "an unholy spawn of the devil himself." Elliot lived on the streets completely homeless and broke for a while. He eventually realize that he had to commit burglaries and theft in order to stay alive. His curse became almost a blessing to him. He was easily able to steal from others by using his powers. A few dozen bus trips and a couple hundred hours later, Elliot found Orchids Academy. Using money forcefully taken from upperclassmen in the area, Elliot managed to pay for tuition to the school, and enroll.

Bio: A friendly, sarcastic man, Djhango is the next line for head of his family. Easily tired and unmotivated by things, but friends can change that. He arrived at the academy at the age of 10, to better strengthen his ability as well as live in a safe environment. He is sometimes self-conscious about his appearence, constantly getting looks from people just because of how large he is. He particularly doesn't find any interest in the bout, but feels as though there has to be a reason more for its existance. Him and his cousin are determined to solve the mystery of the bouts, both being at the academy for a long time, however they keep these thoughts to themselves.

Hmm.. An RP I was in not too long ago was very much like this. In the sense that it was an academy for those with 'unusual' powers. Though the GM disappeared and the Co-GM(Who was made Co-GM on the stop after the disappearance) quit because he didn't want to take control of an entire story the GM had in mind.

All in all, this sounds interesting and I wonder if it'll fare better than the previous one I was in. By the way, any way I could drag my CS from the RP I was speaking of previously into this one?
