Alicia Keys - Brand New Me
It's been a while, I'm not who I was before
You look surprised, your words don't burn me anymore
Been meaning to tell you, but I guess it's clear to see
Don't be mad, it's just the brand new kind of me
Can't be bad, I found a brand new kind of free

Hey, personally i do think that cheer is a sport.
Even if some say it isnt, just know in your heart that it really is, hun! I am a gymnast, and i have been a cheerleader before. I honestly have to say that they are both equally as hard. Sure, we balance on beams and flip and swing on bars, but you guys do stunts, no equipment. Just hands, lifting someone high in the air.
I would never have the courage to do that, and id pee my pants if i tried.
Some people say that a gymnast could do anything a cheerleader can do, that is a LIE.
Take it from experience. Gymnasts dont have to Yell AND flip at the same time, like they do.
I see lots of stereotypes and things on tv, which is why people say it isnt a sport, or that it is an "Annoying" bother. Well, just ignore that. TV stereotypes everything.
All in all, i think that both are SPORTS. They require physical strength, and more that Gymnastics does as well. Maybe even a little more. Those who say that "Cheer is more of an art like dance," you guys are dead wrong.
Cheer takes guts. And they do "score" points. For instance, if a stunt falls or bobble, points deducted. Its not about what the judges personally think. They arent even allowed to smile or clap.
If you do the same routine, it doesnt matter. It is just a crazy thought, because that means that someone is copying another team. Cheating.
But, it doesnt matter.
Physical appearance, doesnt matter at all. If youre fat, they dont care, because most of it is muscle anyways. Thats like calling a Gymnast fat, which they arent. They are full of muscle.
I know some of you are gonna "Attack" this post, but no matter what you say, im sticking to my own opinion.
Take care, Hun!

I don't need your opinion
I'm not waiting for your okay.
I'll never be perfect, but at least now i'm brave
Now my heart is open, and i can finally breathe
Don't be mad, ive found a brand new kinda free...

@mskennedy615: I don't think you've read any of the posts in this thread, have you...All of these points you make have been addressed and countered already.
Plus someone questioning your views is not an "attack." If you can't tell the difference, I suggest you leave off-topic and stay out of spam or it'll get pretty ugly for you pretty quickly.
I didn't question that cheerleaders score points. It's just that the method to score points is unclear and changes too rapidly. If two cheerleading teams do the same routine, the second one to do it is not valued at the same level as the first one to do it. It's arbitrarily valued more on performance, looks, artistic value, personal and subjective opinions... Not on a clear, measurable system of skill. It's not about physical effort--it's about creativity. It's a physical art, not a sport.
Also, just because it's not a sport doesn't mean it doesn't require physical strength and that doesn't make it less than a sport, so don't take that as an "attack", either.
Cheerleaders get way too worked up about it. We're not insulting your hobby, girls. We're just saying it doesn't classify as what you think it does.
Okay, first of all, she wasn't saying SHIT to any of you directly. She was talking to ME.
Thanks, Ken.
AND, nobody is "insulting" "our" SPORT. I'm just backing it up. And even she said she does gymnastics, so thats ANOTHER place you went wrong. And now, you're just stereotyping. "Cheerleaders get so worked up.." girl, youve met one just now, i don't think that is what you can go on. Don't group all cheerleaders together, because we are different.
And are you threataning her? Saying things will get ugly for her? Bitch she barely even posts in the off topic section, so back off! She can say it if she wants to!! Her keyboard, her typing!
And another thing, they don't look at the actual cheerleaders as a lower level, they think of the coaches, the ones who actually made the routine and showed it to them.
Tsk. Tsk. Wrong again.
:-)

She [mskennedy615] posted in a topic. Topics are usually used for discussion. People are going to respond to her post. Also, are you getting angry at Kagamine for saying that no one was insulting you? That makes it sound like you'd rather people were insulting you. They weren't threatening her, they were just pointing out that people who are overly sensitive and/or take disagreement as a personal attack don't do well in Off-Topic. Which is basically a place for people to voice differing opinions. It's not like saying why you think something else from her [mskennedy615] is an attack against her, it's just adding to the discussion. So, they're not saying that she can't post, they're saying she shouldn't take disagreement as insults. Or "attacks" as she put it.
And I'm not sure what you're saying in that last paragraph.
This is an open discussion. If this was a conversation in private, then this argument might hold merit. As it stands, it's just another straw-man argument to add to the pile.
#1: Cheerleaders getting worked up is a stereotype?
#2: If it is, you're feeding it. Good job, Diva! She's not even stereotyping anything. I'm not even sure where you're getting this from... Are we having the same conversation? Do we need to clarify for you?
#1: You complain about threats then call someone a bitch. Congratulations. You're totally achieving the moral high ground with this one. [/sarcasm]
#2: We're not arguing her ability or "right" to say it. We're questioning it. Questioning someone's argument/logic/statement =/= censorship. If you believe that, you're gonna have a bad time here... And in life in general, really.
...What are you even talking about? Do you know what you're talking about? If so, can you clarify this for me because I don't understand what you're saying... At all.
