Why do LGBT people support Obama? He's no LGBT ally.

For about 3 years of his presidency, Obama supported DADT (Don't Ask, Don't Tell.) It was only until a federal lawsuit initiated by REPUBLICANS that Obama was pressured into repealing DADT. The court case was filed by Log Cabin Republicans v. United States.

Obama has routinely expressed his Christian belief that marriage is a sacred institution until approximately 85% of his presidency was over and the issue of re-election was coming up.

Obama was an avid supported of DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) for 3.5 years. Obama is not an enlightened, open-minded individual. I can't in all good conscience vote for a man that is subjugating the entire LGBT community. If you think Obama woke up one day and thought "oh wait, the gays deserve equal rights too. How could I have been so foolish?" you're incorrect. If you believe that Obama likes LGBT people, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. However, LGBT support = MOAR votes.

Even during Obama's supposed pro-gay-marriage speech, he never once states that gay marriage is a good thing. Obama simply states that he supported the procedural efforts/legislation which led to the bill being passed. Not gay marriage itself. Basically he liked the fact that nobody got shot or assassinated in recent history and that the politicians handling the gay rights bill didn't bicker too much.

    ^ Pretty much that.

Romney completely is against it and wants it illegal. Obama would rather have the states decide what they want in terms of gay marriage, pretty much.

I personally think it should be left up to the states- some parts of this country are lethal to those people and it would not be a good idea for them to move there, for their life's sake. It only takes 1 incident to ruin the possibility of it being accepted, and before there is a chance of an incident we should have it accepted somewhere else.

(For instance, moving to texas as a LGBT is probably not a good idea- I'm not saying everyone would shoot them, but they'd probably be looked down upon, and someone crazy would walk along.[on that note, a lot of the new population is more accepting of this sort of stuff])

So are you saying that Obama has to say that gay marriage is a good thing?

    It's called tactical voting.

If you were starving and you had to choose between two doors to knock on for food, and one said "knock but i won't feed you", and the other said "knock, but i won't feed you and i'll fucking shoot you".

You'd go for the one that just wouldn't feed you, to live for another day.

LGBT are trying to live for another 4 years.

But yeah, tactical voting sucks but it's a given downside to two party democracy.

    Wat

You mean to tell me politicians occasionally lie from time to time to swing votes and support?

I wish we had a way to "like" a post, for awesome humor value of course.

anyway, as basically everyone else has said, Romney's worse. Lesser of two evils, blah blah blah. Go third party if you really want of course.
Back, sorta. not gunna be involved in too many RPs for a while, still getting my writing skills back.

My username for every other game is the same as here, mostly playing League of Legends right now
