That's not necessarily true, since both Democrats and Republicans have nigh infinite resources (MONEY) to throw into the election. Third party candidates don't have the resources ($$$$$) to garner national appeal. Plus, let's be honest here, not many Americans really even pay intention to the election aside from what the media regurgitates on the news.

Side-note: The amount of money both parties shovel into their respective campaigns is absolutely disgusting. Could go to better help with our shit education system and our public safety (cops, firefighters, etc). Some bullshit if you ask me.

Altogether the two candidates spent 6 billion on the campaign.

On Halloween, the American public spent 8 billion.

It's all relative.

And 6 billion really isn't all that much in the grand scheme of things.
