    (East Gate) Godsend DnD

    Accepted Characters:
Asha Valdrei, Druid of Rodcet Nife
Carter Race, Ranger of Mithaniel Marr
Boulder Stonerock, Barbarian of Rallos Zek (Currently buried under debris)
    Toka Merlawn, Fighter of Karana

(To Check out the other Group)

“It has been ten years now since the Necromancer Seit has unleashed his undead army to ravage the lands of Norrath. For what reason no one truly knows, some speculate he is seeking the Lost Tomes of the world, still others say he has lost his very mind with power seeking to destroy life on the known world. My own opinion you may ask? It doesn’t matter I seek only safety in these trying times, the security of Erudin in their fortress of Magic one of the few place yet to be struck. As for my business in Freeport, left to burn along with the rest of the world, may the gods have mercy on those left behind…”
    -Garus Drimal, Human Master Alchemist

“Damned be the reasons on why the dark mage has attacked! You need now only know the lands of Kaladim are besieged, and we dwarves will not go without one hell of a fight! Be gone now you bard, I have an axe to sink into one of those skellies!”
    -Dunlyn Bruntbuckler, Dwarvern Warrior

“It isn’t possible. How one caster could make such a gathered force? Necromancy is a despicable art, but it requires mana and sacrifice just as any other spell weaving. It would have taken years of nothing but the most extreme effort on a daily basis. I for one won’t let this world fall without a struggle.” *A ball of fire forms in his hand as he gives me a firm glare*
    -Tanias Firebright, Half-Elf Mage

“The lands cry out in pain, one can physically feel and hear it. *She looks out over the forest, a deep sadness in her eyes.* The scourge army burns and pillages the lands. Felling trees here hundreds of years old, spoiling rivers and water holes killing out life. This has to end, the past five years have bared the burden of these desecrations. We gather our forces to march, to counter attack and drive the dark army from our lands if nothing more than to allow it to recover.”-Idia Ashwood, Wood Elf Druid

“What!? There is an army of skeletons and zombies on the loose? Since when?*A long pause *Ten years!! Asler gather your kin we need to talk about hiding!!”
    -Deputy Braster Looh, Rouge Halfling

These are the brief encounters I have taken that have stood out on my trips across the lands, ones I believe hold the true feelings all of us beings have of this world. Fear, a chance to test themselves, anger, revenge against atrocities… we all have responded to this dangerous attack in our own ways. But who is it that will gather to oppose this fearsome force, to rid the lands of this undead scourge? Who will be the champions of this time?
-Writing from the journal of Nikako Jones, Traveling Bard

    ::Status of the War::

The wind that seemed to be constantly blowing. There were no trees, no mountains in the distance, no water in sight. Just miles and miles of grass land as the eye could see. There was a slight crackle of electrical energies in the air as a small layer of clouds let the sun shine through.

Yes this was the Great Plains of Karana.

"That is a spiderbane mushroom. They act as a natural antitoxin to many kinds of venom that we might run into. Just do not touch it when you boil it or else you are going to have one hell of a rash. So I would say hold on to that and nice find!"

Carter looked around the area and found a small pouch under a rock. It was an interesting place to hide something and figured that he could use the stuff that was inside. A fold-able tent which would come in very handy along with a locket and more importantly a map. It showed a bridge off to the west of where they came out of.

"The tracks head that way, away from the sun. Now be careful these clouds and static that you are feeling are going to cause some problems. Fortunately it does not effect people but if the necromancers are using any mundane instruments then they are going to have a lot of problems. As you can already see there is a mirror image of the sun. Also just found a map with a bridge off to the west. Now bridges too me say water which is something that we will need."
Boulder nodded as Carter told him the nature of the mushrooms and shrugged as if unconcerned with them. Handing them towards the shapeshifter, he said in common, "You heal? Keep them. I no need. Rest here." He points out the other mushrooms he had yet to pick and then moves over to glance off towards the west. In dwarven he says, "I agree, we will need the water. Bridges are also important strategic locations for moving armies, especially undead who don't cross rivers as well. Our path is set so it seems." With his right hand, the dwarf lifted his monstrous axe and rested it on an armored shoulder as with his left he reached down to squeeze the stuffed ogre doll strapped to his armor. Without another word, he marched off towards the west as if he could already see the bridge up ahead.

"The dead aren't supposed to have reached this far west yet. So it might just be a wild animal, but then, why would the owner of this cloak be here?" He said to the other. "But, yes, we should stock ourselves with water, is there any town nearby?"

He looked around trying to find anything out of ordinary and opened his ears.

"Excuse me, what did the dwarf just say.", Asha asked Carter in Elven. "Agreed where there is a bridge there may be water, now I know incantations to create water, but only a few gallons, I suppose it is prudent to find a town, but where there's water there is life, where there is water there is civilization. Come now friend we don't want to keep Rocky waiting.", Asha said to Toka switching back to common.

She scanned the flat plains for anything out of the ordinary.

Asha didn't hear anything, but as she walked alongside the group off in the distance, what was that...a tree..."Fellas, I spy a tree off in the distance, could be important, shall we investigate?", she said to the others.

Carter nodded in agreement with the group and turned to Asha.

"Boulder said that we should head towards the bridge since they are often strategic points for armies. I will in the future translate for you so that we can understand Boulder better. He seems to have a difficult time with common and this seems to aid in eliminating any miscommunications."

Carter then addressed the group as they made their way towards the bridge.

"If the tree is on the way we can swing by it since it might hold information. Many rangers will leave signs at major markers and a tree in the middle of the plains seems to be one. Also I want to see what kind of tree can survive in the soil here. Let's just be on guard since we know the undead are in the area and there were those cat prints back there. I do not know if they are natural cat prints or some of the ones their healer created. As to towns on the plains. There are not that many if I remember. I grew up on the edge of the plains but did not travel out this far do to hear stories of travelers walking around in circles until they perished. I would like to know what happened to the ranger or what would seem to be a sniper of the allied side. But if we can take out a military target to slow the undead armies then I think that needs to be the priority."

As they came up to the tree on their way to the bridge Carter watched a bird take off in flight only to be smashed on the ground by the wind. This stopped him in his tracks. He did not feel any wind and what was going on with this tree? It looked to be scared with ruins and the ground here looked odd and the tracks of the undead ran threw this area.

"Hold up folks. Something is off here. The ground is hollow almost which shouldn't be like this. The tree seems odd and there are a lot of tracks here about thirty undead have been through this area."

With that Carter shot an arrow over the tree to see what would happen to it. Would it be swatted down like the bird or is it only living things? This should help rule somethings out.

Toka stopped and watched Carter shot an arrow. He didn't see or notice what's wrong, but he decide to at least have faith in the ranger's skill.

Once that arrow reached about twenty feet in the air it too was abruptly thrown to the ground by an unseen force, the air sky above still cackling with electrical energies.

Boulder watched the arrow fly up into the air and then get slammed back downward to the ground to be lost in the grass. "Well that is something you don't see everyday. How far do you think this anomaly goes? We could try going around and avoid this altogether." He didn't sound hesitant or scared, simply stating a suggestion, but by the look in his eyes and his white knuckles on his axe, he is just as ready to face whatever threat this might be.

That was different. His arrow had been thrown down after reaching a certain height. But why?

"I saw the same thing happen to a bird that took off from the tree. I am not sure if it is the tree or the electricity that causes that. Asha, would you check the tree the tree since you were the first to spot it?"

Carter grabbed a few more arrows from his quiver and started to fire into the air at different sites. He was trying to determine first if this was an area effect and if so how large. Or trying to find out if it was the whole plain. His quiver would make sure that he never ran out of arrows so he was shooting a lot off trying to figure this out. While he did this he kept an eye out for anything out of the ordinary and to see if he saw any more tracks as he move and fired.

"No bird or arrow can pass over a certain height it seems.", Asha said, "I could test it myself, but I don't wish to get hurt." She approached the tree, laying a hand on the trunk she examined the tree more carefully.
