Greetings!
Hello chaps. I'm new here. I was enticed into the realms of forum RP by a friend of mine who goes by the name of "Skycast" in these parts. It's not something I've ever done before, but I'm keen to get started
My only real previous RP experience is from various roleplaying servers on San Andreas Multiplayer, and brief moments of guild RP in Guild Wars 2 (another form of RP I have only recently been introduced to).
IRL, I'm an 18 year old Yorkshireman. I'm currently living and studying at university way down south in the fair county of Kent.
So yeah... hi

Hello, Stark! Welcome to the guild, man. I hope you can enjoy yourself here and that I haven't disappointed you in showing you around. I trust you'll get along well here once you get used to the ropes.
You know where to get ahold of me if you need me, but please don't be afraid to ask other members of the guild either. Everyone is friendly here, surprisingly enough, all it takes is the will to ask. I look forward to seeing you around bud, thanks for taking the time to check out 'my' neck of the 'woods.' (Internet)

We'come to the guild, Stark.
What sort of RPing do you prefer? Historic? fantasy? sci-fi? supernatural? A mixture? Something completely different?
What sort of roles do you like taking up? the brutish warrior, the sneaky assassin, the overconfident mage or the innocent little girl who just happens to devour souls for a hobby?
Do you typically write long multi-paragraph posts or shorter ones?

As I said in my first post, I've never done forum RP before - so I'm afraid I can't really answer any of those questions just yet.

Fair enough...
What categories like that do you prefer in computer/console games? Do you lean towards the ones that play with history, the pseudo-historic shooters, the futuristic shooters, or perhaps the fantasy-themed games?
If you've played games where you choose your role more freely (like skyrim), what sort of character did you end up with?
The preferences (or results) there might give you an idea as to the sort you'd enjoy most in RPing...

I play a wide array of games - from futuristic/dystopian shooters (eg Fallout, Borderlands etc) to historical combat (eg Age of Empires, War of the Roses etc) to fantasy (eg Guild Wars 2). I played Skyrim as a devoted melee/bow user, hardly using any magic whatsoever. In games where you choose roles I tend to experiment and try out bits of everything, but a pattern I often seem to notice emerging is that I often find myself creating "northern" characters - norns, nords, whatever you wish you to call them.
But I'm open to trying out different styles of RP to see what I enjoy. I joined the forums to participate in an upcoming Game of Thrones roleplay, and after a brief scan over the forums I think I may look at joining in with a dark Victorian RP (I forget its name), and a Fallout themed one.

ah. That gives some idea.
What sort of view do you have on Star Wars-themed stories?

Futuristic space based stuff? I'd say... probably not much interest. I tried Mass Effect (a futuristic space based game which is heavy on story) and I really couldn't get into it. So I'm not sure I'd enjoy that kind of roleplay.
