I like this idea and would join. Is there a lot that one must know concerning Judaism/Christianity/Islam to join? Or are the basics and the interpretations of this thread and our own beliefs fine to use?
This is similar to an interest check, but I promise that I will not be able to act on this idea in the near future. If you like the idea, please take it, and feel no need to credit me. This idea is incomplete and needs a lot of work, but I would like to see if it is worth pursuing. Please do not hold the story for accuracy, I am aware it is inaccurate. Story premise:
In the bible, it is said when God made the world, he had taken a day of rest. At this time, there was no life and no sin, so God could rest all God desired, but what would happen, if the miracle were to happen again?
It is now 2012, and the beginning of a new world is coming. God has decided to create a new world which converges with our own, containing new forms of life, including a new form of intelligent life. Just before he began the project, he announced to the world via telepathy, "My followers. The time for the coming of a new world is upon us. I will create a new kingdom, here there will be plenty for all, in both mind and body. For the next 7 days, I will be unable to watch over mankind as I have in the past. Only those with faith will receive my protection, and only on my holy grounds the church. All sins commited will be unseen, and all souls unsaved. I leave my kingdom, to my children."
And with that statement, chaos broken out. Acts of revenge, acts of selfishness, all because there will be no greater chance to meet wild desires. Yet those who stayed in the church remained untouched. No weapon of any kind could overpower their walls. At least, until demons appeared. Demons before remained dormant, but between temptation and ease of exit, they left their usual domain. Demons aren't exactly evil creatures however; they are the physical form of a particular desire. They are simply accepting of all things regardless of if they are morally correct, which is why God banishes them.
God had not predicted they would escape so quickly. Now, there are demons roaming around, good and bad, trying with all their unholy strength to meet their goal. Thanks to these events, the resulting natural disasters killed countless numbers. The population has plummeted, cutting the population to 1/5000 its previous count. The people who remain have three options: develop holy weapons to defend the church, befriend a demon protector, or survive long enough for God to return to the world. Some members of the church have even formed teams to find and save those who remain trapped outside, and exorsize those foolish enough to befriend demons. Those who befriend demons try to build a better world with the help of their demon, while God can't interfere.
As new problems arise, how will these groups cope with both each other, and the complications of the creation of the new world? ~A Day of Unrest

Pretty much. This really just resembles bible stories. As I mentioned before, it isn't at all accurate because it isn't trying to be accurate. The only really important part is the fact demons can't be the traditional incarnates of evil, but the church must still view them that way. One of the major sources of conflict stems from the mutual goal of defeating the demons who do nothing but destroy, but also the church attempting to save people from demons regardless of if the demon is destructive or not. Everyone is trying to conscript people to their side believing they are doing the greater good, causing a giant conflict in the process. On top of this base conflict, new conflicts appear which may require the church and demon protectors to work together. The entire idea seems neat, I just don't have the time to head this. Glad to see Roo chan is here to help.
