Hi I'm a political science major blah blah blah
Fortunately you don't have to study poli sci to understand this. I've decided to make a thread because this is in every thread right now. Think of it as a public service announcement.
"It really grinds my gears that people care about the presidential election more than the house and senate elections."
K g8 thnks 4 ur input
But here's why that's the case. The presidency is a national office. Everyone gets to vote on our next candidate. The house and Senate elections are state elections. Tonight my favorite Senator, Scott Brown, lost to a die hard Democrat. This is a massive loss for bi-partisanship in the Senate. Now, why don't people care? Because no one besides Massachusetts...ians are able to vote on who represents Massachusetts in the Senate except for Massachusettsians Massholes.
Please just accept this and stop posting about how righteously furious you are over the inordinate weight being placed on the Presidential elections over the Senatorial and House elections.
Shpanks.

I really could expand on this OP, actually.
I'm going to sleep in a minute, but here's the thing. People like big things, national things. People also are lukewarm about voting. The presidency is a national thing, and garners roughly 50% of registered voters. State elections are... 30 or 40%? I'm paraphrasing from this book on the Federal System. Municipal elections garner about 20%.
This is more an attack on the people saying "I dun geddit" and implicitly encouraging them to say "Oh, okay. Now how do we change this?"

If I remember right there were a couple of people saying "I hope New York/[insert Democratic stronghold] goes for Obama" in the electoral thread. So yes, Ace, we have some morons on this site. Let us embrace and uplift them.
