Thomas smiled at the thought of England and how it must have been to live there before all of this happened, all while Adam seemed to get sicker and sicker by the second they spent in the stinky place. But it was far the best and safest place Thomas had found in the city. Well, that or a secret military bunker underneath the city that no one knew about. But what would the chances of that being true be?
Thomas looked back at Adam as he answered his question about who he was and where he came from.
"I'm Thomas Wilkins, former teacher and sewer survivor if you'll allow me to use that term to impress anyone." He said to Adam, taking a sip of water himself before he continued to talk with Adam.
"I was lucky to discover that the sewers were mostly empty for Walkers, and so I've used them to move from one place to another. You remember the store we were just in? I had been keeping eye on it for almost a day, staying hidden underneath a car and just waiting for the right time. I'll tell you, I'll teach you everything I've learned, but you'll be at least a lot safer afterwards. Because I have a plan, and it might just work when we are two."

Thomas stood up and pulled up a camera from his backpack. It was amazing that Thomas had found enough batteries to keep it running for months, but he reckoned that it could always come in handy. He skipped to a specific picture and showed it to Adam.
"This, I think we can use this." He said. He had a smile on his face, for well who hadn't ever wanted to drive a tank?

Adam was surprised that Thomas had a camera, let alone one that was still functioning. He had figured it must have been used very conservatively. Still, he was intrigued about what could have been on the small LCD display; let alone the basis for a plan to get out of that hellhole they were stuck in. Adam was in disbelief that anything would be sufficient and had immediately considered his new companion as a little bit crazy.
Adam leaned in closer as Thomas leaned the screen towards him, and Adam caught view of what Thomas was trying to describe.
A tank.
A fucking tank?

Adam shook his head, “Are you fucking crazy? You want to find a functioning tank and drive it out of Atlanta?” he almost shouted in sheer annoyance. Was his new friend actually insane or just deluded from the lack of Human contact?

Thomas quickly put his hand over Adam's mouth as he shouted out in annoyance over his idea. Thomas could understand it, it WAS crazy, trying to find a functioning tank that wasn't empty of fuel. And then came the question of actually getting to it without getting bit or eaten alive by the Walkers. However, this was not a mere idea, Thomas had a plan. He shushed Adam to be quiet again, and took off the hand over his mouth so that he could talk again.
"Be quiet, you want the Walkers to know that there's actually someone down here? And no Adam, I'm not crazy, not in the sense of believing in fucking unicorns that shit rainbows. But hell, in this new world Adam, we got to take chances, and I know that we can make it." He said to Adam in a calm way, holding up the camera again and showing Adam different pictures of the tank from various angles.
"See, I know where this tank is. It's been there since the military failed to contain the city, and nobody has tried to take it. No wonder, the area around is filled with Walkers. But it's not impossible, we just need to create a distraction long enough for us to get in the tank."

While they kept talking about the tank, a Walker had heard Adam's shouting and had limped towards the direction of the sound through the sewer. And the moans from the Walker brought the attention of more Walkers that followed, and soon the sewer was filled with moans, and they were all headed for Thomas and Adam.

"We might not get that far, but at least we can outrun and overrun the Walkers long enough for us to get safely out of Atlanta. This is crazy, yeah I know, but it's crazy not to try either. So Adam, have you had any experience with driving tanks? You wouldn't happen to be a tank driver in the British Armed Forces?"

“No,” Adam retorted, “I do not how to drive a bloody tank. I had kind of hoped that you, since you were the one who is suggesting such a suicidal plan, would have known,”

Adam left the two in silence for a moment. It was evident that this man had been formulating his tank-driving plan for many weeks, and it saddened Adam slightly to have to put such a shutdown on his aspirations, but he honestly believed that if they were to go for this tank then they would have died.

“Look mate, have you seen how many walkers are actually out there? Gotta be in the tens of hundreds at least. If there weren’t any threats out there, then I’d be more than happy to give it a few test runs… but, come on, you’ve seen what those walking shitbags can do to things”
Adam protruded his hand to feel for a rest to sit upon while he wildly thought through Thomas’ idea, thinking of ways that they could make it more viable - any way.

“Maybe… does this sewer have another exit? Maybe we can trap the walkers…”

Thomas had to sigh when he found out that Adam wasn't the one that Thomas had hoped for, and instantly his mind started to work again. Maybe they could find a survivor, one from the military that knew about tanks? Or they could maybe find a library where they could find books on tanks? Or they could just try and fail until they managed to get the tank running?
But Thomas fell out of his bubble when Adam asked him if there were an other exit from the sewer, and nodded.
"Good idea, we can lure them down the south street from the tank and trap them in the big hole that's been made in the middle of the street. Don't ask me what happened, but I think it was when the military started bombing the city to try to contain the outbreak." Thomas answered Adam, standing up and gesturing Adam to follow him down the sewer tunnel.

It was dark down in the sewer, but luckily Thomas had a flash light so that they wouldn't be completely blind. They made their way deeper and deeper into the sewer, when they came to a dead end.
"Shit, there's bars here, we can't get through. We got to turn around, we'll fi..." Thomas managed to say before he saw what had followed them. Walker, lots of them.
"SHIT! We're trapped, we can't get through! Adam, you got to find a way out of here, I'll do my best to keep them back. Quickly!"
Thomas was desperate, his survivor instincts kicked in as he took the shotgun and opened fire at the Walkers that had been following them. One shot, one Walker fell to the ground. Another shot, a Walker fell, but came back up because of the shotgun shell not hitting the brain itself. As more shells flew through the tunnel, one after another Walker fell to the ground, but there were far too many for them to simply kill.
