I'm planning to run a Middle Earth scenario using The One Ring system, not sure which yet but it'll certainly be aimed at starter characters
Initially I was envisaging it would be run on the advanced board, but on consideration it'll be the casual roleplay board. Why? Because although I'll insist on good writing I don't really want posts that routinely go to multiple paragraphs of hundreds of words or more, unless the situation really does call it.
My style of play will be mature - that is, it'll be (I hope) well written and engaging enough to make characters feel they're immersed in Middle Earth when they're reading it, and their posts will reflect that.
Functionally, I'll be able to post at least every day as a norm barring holidays, sometimes maybe more. I'd expect at least the same level of commitment from characters - yes, even when things aren't going so well for them. Of course what this means is the game will be a genuinely long-term commitment. A tough ask of most people I realise, but hopefully for those that can stay the course it'll be very rewarding.
One more thing, I've noticed that a lots of games on this forum are pretty free-form. Mine won't be - it'll be strictly The One Ring cannon. I'll run everything 'behind the scenes' using TOR rules, although where necessary I'll include rules details in posts to clarify why certain events occurred, etc. I'll also prep all participants on the basic principles behind successful TOR play, so that players who are unfamiliar with the system are at no disadvantage and can concentrate on roleplaying.
All this sounds very serious I know, but I think it's important to set out my aspirations for the game right at the beginning. I do realise that actually, we're all here to have fun
As I said at the beginning, I gauging interest at this point. I'll get in touch with anyone replying who wants to know more.
