To me in my Sci-Fi Dungeon & Dragon RolePlays, the contribution of a characters past as well as any additional information a player wishes to invest into the project, is critical to expanding the depth of the story. The host can only go so far in creating the atmosphere; I believe it might be important for the host to also create an environment that's malleable enough for other players to play with and meld new ideas into, as long as it is appropriately canonical. But in light of this, I think there either just needs to be a rewording or just another mindset when regarding this point: Plot suggestions.

Plot suggestions, I assume, come from the other players. So in this, there wouldn't need to be another pesky policy (since brevity is best, I assure you!) but perhaps rewording to make the statement more broad. But of course, it's up to you to weigh the need for this. If that ends up not working, for any reason, I don't see any reason to change it. I think it might focus too much on the host, and while that's certaintly important, the players who accompany the topic creator are the ones who enliven the environment, so further concepts and ideas might be beneficial to create a better experience.

Additionally, I would suggest creating two policy-based questionnaires: one for short-hand, the other for long. It is invaluable to have a much more brief version, especially concerning the very early upbringings to a role play (since too much questions can be daunting), however, upon the projects dawn I believe a more verbose and interesting range of questions that aim to strengthen the colors of the plot will help bring a bud to flower. Of course, if that just doesn't seem plausible, or if it doesn't ring true to your heart, then I believe you shouldn't do it at all. These rules aim to help, not recede, and I think you do a fine job at that.

Hello Marrone! Thanks for the feedback!

You are correct on the topic of plot suggestions. These can be given by other writers. I agree it might focus too much on the host, do have a suggestion on how it should be reworded?

As for the two policy-based questionnaires, I agree entirely with that process! Thank you for bringing it up! It might take me quite awhile to edit the OP, so in time I will develop the short and long hand questionnaires.

If some of the kinks were worked out, would you be interested in working once in awhile with me on a few ideas?

Hope you have an enjoyable week!

Hey MasterCrew, it'd be great if you'd link this thread to the other one in the Advance RP interest check subforum.

Also, this appears to be a discussion group with an action plan. Kestrel has made some interesting critiques of the plan, and I await to see how it turns out; until then, I still want to know what the explicit purpose of this group is. Just to discuss?

My purpose in joining this group was to familiarize myself with roleplays to begin with, since I'm completely new to this entire thing. Discussion group alongside practice, you know. That sort of thing.

    Martingale,

The explicit purpose the WA is to (by discussion) brainstorm ideas for quality stories, (by writing) put those ideas into a Opening Post for a role play, and possibly produce the role play ourselves.

Since you are completely new to role playing, I would encourage you to visit an RP I am currently apart of entitled, "The Division". Look over the posts and try to "glean" writing styles and such. Please know that I am no expert in role playing, so if while reading you come a cross a mistake of mine, please critique it. The more critiques the better!

I suggest looking here if you're looking to push further immersion in RPG narrative. There is a group that is pushing for more fruitful stories through assembling a highly committed group. Your idea walks in own road, but I don't believe it is so far from Solace that you couldn't find some sort of satisfaction. Check it out and see if that's a place you can lay your head a while. Jumping into RPG with a bursting mind of ideas of how to, in your eyes, improve things is great and devoted. But it could be good for you to find some roots to work through. Solace can help you there.

Create a piece inspired by a "dark" mythical story/folk legend/fairytale.
Due: June 30, 23:59 PST. Have ideas suggestions? I'd love to see them in our AOTM Suggestion Thread!
