Number One: On Humanity

Humanity. It is resourceful, optimistic, collaborative when need be, determined......

And stupid.



The human race....it has gone down the drain. No no, it is not currently declining, it has completely flat lined. Petty rage incited by small differences in culture and views, insatiable greed, emotions clouding rational thought.....the list goes on. Several essays could be written on the subject of humanity's declination, and this is one of them. I shall discuss the reasons why I believe the human race has completely flat lined. I give three of my many. These three being the over-emotional state of most humans, the hatred sparked by petty differences, and the case of education being thrown out the window.

Emotion. It's what drives people to do stuff. Love, fear, happiness, hate, all of that lovely stuff. It is a great source of inspiration, yes, but what if it gets out of hand? What if you let your emotions cloud your ability to perform rational thought and use logic? This, my friends, is how the concepts of "morality" and "political correctness" come about. Many, MANY people every day operate solely on what they believe to be….ahem, "moral", or "correct". They let their emotions dictate their actions, instead of logical deduction and critical thinking. When this happens, many consequences follow. Instead of doing what MUST be done, they do what is "right", and they suffer for it. It is a sad truth, it is an unfortunate truth, but it is the truth. If people would simply calm down, and THINK, this world could be a better place. But we all know how likely THAT is, yes?

Of course, who could forget the metric ton of mudslinging that goes on between people because of differing views on things, or different lifestyles? Religion, fat/slut/etc. shaming, pathetic fights about race, and so on. So many things divide us, yet they should bring us together. Diversity is key within evolution! Without varying kinds of people, we would all be the same at some point in the process of evolution. Different views produce different kinds of wonderful art, music, and literature! The world would be a depressingly boring place without differences. So, why should religion matter? Why should physical states matter? Why should ANY lifestyle matter? We should come together and unite! But no. We won't. Why? Because the uneducated are the lord and masters of this world, and while they are still breathing, this world will keep sinking.

And who could forget education being completely CATAPULTED out the window? Funding for schools in the United States alone is abysmal! Some kids can't even GET a proper education due to life circumstances. The books in a lot of schools are severely outdated, and many teachers just don't seem to care anymore. Bullying is a factor within this. Going back to some kids not being able to get an education due to what their life is like, a lot of people have dropped school altogether due to bullying. Schools do NOTHING, and when something does happen, guess what? The victim is criminalized, and the instigator is let completely off the hook! That's a bit backwards if I do say so myself! Of course, there are SOME countries where getting an education is discouraged. Some of you may not know, but a Pakistani girl by the name of Malala Yousufzai was shot in the head for speaking up for the rights of women, specifically educational rights. Yes, this young woman was SHOT for wanting an education for herself and women everywhere! The gunmen were Taliban, Islam extremists. They are highly against people being educated. Why? Because they are afraid. Afraid of what will become of them when people are able to THINK for themselves, and not have their bronze-aged book think for them. Intelligence and education are weapons deadlier than atom bombs to the ignorant.

Emotional states, hate sparked by small differences, and the subject of education being completely disregarded. What I have described within these three reasons speak volumes about humanity, and where it is heading. Not everyone will agree with me, and I will not call the people who disagree with me names. I will simply shake my head in disappointment behind my screen. Hopefully, this essay will incite people to think about the world around them, and analyze what they gather. When people start thinking, thinking for themselves…. this world may just get better. Until then…..we must wait in this cesspool of ignorance and hate.
