I have my bottom ones. Only hurt once ever. Took half a pain pill and was fine. Haven't felt pain since.

My top ones are literally nonexistent. Lucky me.

Actually everyone is born without them. They develop of their own accord. Although some people don't develop them at all. They tend to begin to ground in your teens, although they can (from my understanding) appear in your early twenties as well.

I was asking his age to see his likelihood but since he's 19 I doubt he'll develop them. If he has them already though or isn't sure if he does he should definitely get an X-ray.

The surgeon I went to played a whole video for me (like she does for every patient) which explained how they form, any complications that might arise with their forming, and any complications that might arise during/after surgery. Wisdom teeth form inside a sac in your jaw, which I guess deteriorates in most cases, although in some it doesn't and it leaves a cyst (which might be what's behind my bottom teeth).

The longer you wait to have them removed the higher your risk of removal damaging the nerves which give you sense in your tongue and lips. If they form completely the wisdom teeth roots often grow around the nerves which give sense to those areas, and removal could damage them and leave your tongue and/or lips senseless for any length of time. Also the roots can grow into your nasal cavity.

I've had a hernia removed, the muscles behind my eyes tweaked, my tonsils removed, my wisdom teeth need to be surgically removed, and I'm getting reconstructive surgery so I can breathe through my nose. And I got a laser frenectomy for my mouth, but they didn't knock me out for that.

Other than that I'm fine, though.
