Denburgh (Never Ever After Asylum, as the patients call it) Asylum is well renowned for the quiet way in which it deals with its patients. From an outsider’s point of view it looks like a well maintained building, with many members of staff dealing with the everyday problems that crop up. However, there are darker things going on behind the scenes...
An age old spell was cast, bringing forth the many fairy-tale beings from their Stories and into our time. Unused to such an influx in power, many of them forgot pieces of whom there were, instead regaining only slivers that drummed against their skulls, driving their mind to conflict with everything they used to be. Broken minded, they stumbled across the countryside, some banding together in an unknowing manner; others simply wandering around without a destination.
Many of these were found and taken in by people of the nearby village; Denburgh. However, they soon came to realize there were many problems with the strangers... They believed they saw things that weren’t there, hearing things that couldn’t be heard and muttering of creatures that didn’t exist.
Finally, after much debating one specific destination was set in mind for them: they would be taken to Denburgh asylum, where they would be... treated.
So, the Stories of the fairy-tale beings continue, albeit in an unsettling manner. It seems there is no happy ending for them, unless you count death as one of them, but even that doesn’t seem possible.
For years, their living Hell continued. For years they suffered at their hands of their “protectors”. That was until the ancient spell was summoned back by a force unknown.
However, it’s twisted recall did not come back in the way one might expect. Instead, it slithered and sneaked into the heart of the asylum, the remnants of the original spell filled with the dim, terrifying memories of the suffering patients. One by one the doctors and nurses disappeared. One by one the hallways dimmed. Until there was only the quiet sobs and cries of the broken to fill the air.
Thus began the first pure phase of the new reincarnation of the spell: the Calling.
Cell doors creaked open simultaneously throughout the hallways. Only those chosen able to break the bonds that bound them.
As you step out into the hall; you find lying before you an ITEM. This ITEM is special. It is the object that defines you. Shapes you into being who you WERE before all of this.
It glows with an eerie light and you itch to pick it up, your heart aching for something long forgotten.
However, as you stoop to retrieve it, chatters and inhuman laughter fill the hallway. You quickly stand back up, your special object clutched tightly to your chest.
