It is the year 3035, the Succession wars rage violently among the 5 Great Houses of the Inner Sphere. No clear winner can be determined, as the Houses of Davion, Steiner, Liao, Marik and Kurita send hundreds of thousands of their sons and daughters to battle over planets on each other's borders. Infantry, Tanks, and Aerospace fighters weave in out on these battlefields. But the true terror lies in the vicious BattleMech. The 'Mech is the king of the Battlefield, with more guns, more armor, and more endurance than any combat vehicle ever created. The massive Assault's can survive an attack by an entire battalion of conventional forces, while the quick, speedy Lights can sprint across uneven and varied terrain, delivering a crippling blow to enemy forces wherever it is needed. But a BattleMech isn't just a vehicle, it's a literal extension of the human body. The pilot's neurohelmet allows the pilots subconscious to control balance, check the 'Mech's subroutines, and provide control to an extent it never could be before. With half the piloting done by the mind, and the other half by the body, the BattleMech became the King of the Battlefield.

When the BattleMech was originally developed in 2439, it was suffering from use of relatively primitive technology. Regardless, it destroyed 4 Main Battle Tanks in record time, setting it's fate in stone. You are a BattleMech pilot in this new era. The fall of the Star League in 2780 caused the Great Houses to plunge into the long lasting wars known as the Succession Wars, you are equipped with what remains of the advanced technology that the Star League left behind. Go forth, and destroy the foe.
