It just wasn't fair.
I didn't deserve this.
I didn't need this.
What have I done?
To lose all my freedom?
Where has all my freedom gone? - The Listener's Final Lyric
Thousands of angry people stomp and yell in horror. Profanities and other ugly names are shouted at me. All because I'm different. All because my blood is black. Is this a good reason to commit murder? To commit a sin? And then I see you.
Oh, I see you.
You are staring at me, your eyes filled with remorse. You want to grab me and take me away from the Hell that is our world. My pale hand reaches out weakly, weakly... Your name is a whisper against my lips and I just want to scream. So I do.
"I AM SORRY," I begin to say, "THAT I AM DIFFERENT.
I AM SORRY THAT I AM GIFTED.
I AM SORRY THAT MY HAIR AND MY EYES ARE WHITE.
I AM SORRY THAT I EXPERIENCED LOVE FOR THE FIRST TIME,
AND I AM SORRY THAT YOU ARE SUCH AN INSUFFERABLE MORON THAT YOU WANT TO PUT ME TO DEATH FOR BEING MORTAL."
My head hangs, my clothes tattered and broken. The whip lashes against my snow-shaded skin as I shake in pain and horror. I open my mouth and begin to sing my melodious terror.
A new age is about to begin.
