((OOC thread with Character Sheets is here. I figured I'd just post it here because there's only 2 people involved.))
"Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen!" the announcer blared over the intercom in the Carnival Corpse Arena. Now, the arena was dark, two combatants in their chain-link cages on either side of an arena. "Without further ado, the main event tonight is a crowd favorite, KOMODO!"
A light blazed on over Komodo's cage now, as the door opened and she was invited to step forward. "And her opponent tonight is the maestro of Sin, LYREBIRD!" The same happened on his side of the arena.
Joey had his headphones on with his arms crossed and his foot tapping as the precedings were underway. As the door to his cage swung open, he hung his headphones around his neck, and tucked his hands in his pockets nonchalantly, before he strode forward, still tapping his foot when he stopped.
Koutsu: A title odd of a match up, don't you think?
Ringo: What do you mean?
Koutsu: A straight up fighter like Komodo versus someone like Lyrebird?
Anko: It does make it hard to predict a winner, until you look at their Branches. Do you think that Lyrebird can compete with Komodo's Branch?
No Name: .....I wouldn't count either of them out.
All the lights were on now, as the crowd watched expectantly for the match to begin, waiting on the buzzer.
Komodo stared across the arena at the new man. This "Lyrebird". He was a well built man, if thin, and looked like he knew how to fight. But that didn't mean shit if he couldn't use his Branch of Sin properly, it'd just be a repeat of every other battle. An easy win for Komodo, and a crushing defeat for her foe. She shook her head and started walking forward. "They must really want you dead if you're facing me in your first bout. You kill a classroom full of kids or something?" She used her bladed bracelets to slash into each wrist, and her blood armor and formed over her body... complete with short but wicked claws on each finger. It was an intimidating sight, to be sure... a woman as lovely as Anna... coated head to toe in a sheen of blood that was translucent enough to see her features, but thick enough to give her entire form a slightly reddish hue.
One spectator, a man by the alias of Blaze, commented. "She's in top form, as usual. Lyrebird will have to be on his toes if he want so come out on top." Another spectator, a woman by the alias of Frigid, retorted. "Nonsense, Blaze. Lyrebird's abilities will no doubt overwhelm young Komodo. She is talented, I will agree. But her focus on close-range is her downfall." Blaze nodded and sighed. "Well, I hope she can adapt." And with that, several others chimed in and argued amongst themselves. It always amused Anna that these bastards were so into watching people kill each other. It made her want to see the lot of them tossed into the arena to kill each other while SHE watched.
"You bastards can all shut up now. We're about to put on a show for you. The least you can do is watch." Komodo decided long ago that she'd have to not only fight well in this place, but also TALK a good game. And so she returned her attention to her foe. "What's wrong, kid, don't wanna talk? That's fine. I'll start. I killed my mother and two vineyard workers. But don't think that your shyness will get you sympathy." She then fanned her hands out to the side and gnashed her claws together. "Let's hope your as tough as you look, handsome..." Komodo proceeded to charge forward. "... because otherwise I'll tear you apart!" She closed the distance between herself and the other prisoner in just a few seconds, coming in high with a slash aimed at his right shoulder.
The fight was on... who would emerge victorious?

As the spectators were busy gabbing, Joey was fitting his hands into his gloves inside his pockets, succeeding to do so as Komodo sliced her arms. He didn't wince or cringe like many of the noobies were likely to, because this wasn't his first time around. He wasn't impressed by her story, either. For all he knew, it could have been some like cooked up to get him to be more scared of her, and he certainly didn't need that. Unfortunately, he was underestimating his opponent a little. He didn't count on her being so quick, even in an all-out sprint.
"Oh, a hair-splitter, folks!" The announcer commented, as Lyrebird watched a few strands fall in front of his face. He managed to duck at the last moment; he was sure that he would have been torn open if he just stood there and took it like a dumbstruck goat. "Looks like Lyrebird just got a little off the top!"
He rolled to the left, and popped back up to his feet, rather than awkwardly scrambling to find his footing. "Well, well," he bantered, "at least you're not lukewarm. Otherwise this wouldn't be any fun!" He yelled, pulling his right glove on fully, and breaking the skin on his fingertips, minus his thumb. The blood oozed out for a moment, before lengthening into long, thin wire. Its translucent red structure was likely to be invisible to Komodo at her distance, though he could see where his trap was being laid, light glinting crimson off the strands.
Shi: So, what's with the gloves? Just for show or something?
Blaze: Ha! You've never seen him fight have you?
Shi: Yeah, so?
Peony: We should just let it be a surprise to you then...
No Name: ....
Noting that Komodo was probably well recovered from the miss by now, he whipped his hand to the right, wrapping some wire around a gigantic bar of the cage. He made a break for it, hoping that Komodo's first dash was an all out sprint. Otherwise, he feared that she'd be likely to catch him.
Anna was surprised this kid could avoid her, given how quick she was... and tripped when she missed her attack. However, she rolled with the momentum and was back on her feet almost instantly. She had heard about this kid... using micro-fine threads to attack. All she had to do wa stay in his face and he'd be done in no time. "You're right, kid... I'm not luke warm... she smiled as he swung his hand out to the side, unaware her foe had grabbed hold of the bar nearby. "... I'm ice-fucking-cold!" as per her standard tactics, her quick thinking upon falling and rolling with the inertia allowed Anna to remain right in the face of her foe. "And you're dead-fucking-meat!" Komodo renewed her assault with an intense ferocity.
A slash to the left, the right, an uppercut, an ax-handle... the kid avoided them all. But then, she was just putting on a show for the spectators. She found that the flashier fights always had bigger jackpots. Sure, in the end she may be doing Lyrebird a favor... but she was confident in her ability to win. "C'mon kid... how do you expect to get me hot like that?" when she spoke, she grabbed his hair and whispered the words into his ear in her most seductive tone... running a clawed hand up the front of her body to accentuate her question. But then just as quickly, she released the boy's head forcefully, likely sending him a few steps back. Boy, did she enjoy toying with her foes... but toying with them wasn't always the smartest thing to do.
The pause was brief... and seconds later, Komodo renewed her attack once again.
"Looks like Komodo has Lyrebird on the defensive!" the announcer yelled excitedly, "She's got him on the ropes now! C'mon deadmen, let's see some BLOOD!"
Joey was bobbing and weaving, doing all he could to keep moving and not get sliced to ribbons. She's quicker than I gave her credit for, that's for sure, he thought to himself, I don't know how long I can keep this-! He was cut of abruptly, as he was grabbed roughly by the hair. He felt like his scalp was set ablaze, as Komodo whispered, her voice like that of a siren, "C'mon kid... how do you expect to get me hot like that?" She shoved him forward, releasing his head in the process.
He stumbled forward from the shove, ever so slightly, before bracing himself into a roll to kick-start his momentum, as he put on a burst of speed, into an all-out sprint. On the way, he pulled his other glove on all the way and started a few more short strands. He dashed around a tree-like obstacle, before running up the side said tree a few paces, Komodo hot on his heels. He only got a few steps up before the split second when he flashed his opponent a lopsided, cocky grin, and swung his untangled strands at the girl, mid back-flip, asking, "How about THIS!?"
