    Prison Break OOC (Post-Apocolyptic Escape)

    Prison Break

Premise: Global climate change has rendered the U.S.A. a mere environmental shell of its former self. There have been extreme changes in regional weather. The Southeast is now barren and dry, yet bi-annually ravaged by monstrous hurricanes that spare no man, woman, or child. The Northwest is the new "Tornado Alley," while the Midwest dropped that title in favor of constant blizzards and cold. There is no rhyme or reason to the weather. Scientists have all but given up trying to predict patterns. It's beyond that now. The only thing you can do is try to find stable land. It is rumored to exist, perhaps south of the United States, although some say there exists a region temperate enough to lead a relatively normal life. They call this place Eden, and we intend to find it.

Who We Are: We are inmates at the Shaw's Creek Correctional Facility in Montana, or should I say former inmates. After earthquakes begin to ravage the countryside, the prison was abandoned. We spent three days and three nights without food or water, trapped in complete dark, listening to sirens and shouts. After seventy-two hours, there was silence. Simultaneously, the bars to our cells opened up. For a moment no one moved, and then there was pandemonium.

Backstory: Most of the inmates rushed out immediately, and in the days after were killed due to hunger or violence, but many also befell the natural disasters they hadn't seen in years. Maximum security doesn't always allow you to see the world as it is. However, a group of inmates stayed back. Some, simply because there was still food left in the kitchens. Others, because they had nowhere else to go, and knew nothing outside of the walls. Yet for another group, there were different reasons. Whatever their goals, they banded together to find this supposed Eden.

Feel free to add anything else you think is relevant.

I will put up an IC thread as soon as we get enough people (anywhere from 5-10). Don't limit yourself to traditional prison archetypes; get creative. I'm allowing a lot of freedom with regard to initial character creation.

I hope this is ok. I imagine Earl will be more like tagging along with the group then actually participating constructively. Perhaps he can be integrated to the plot when one of you, scrounging for food or equipment, finds that the door to the psychiatric ward is still closed and opens it.

    Character Sheet

    Name: Earl Kriseill
    Age: 35
Physical Description: 6' 4'', bulky but not fat with powerful hands boasting curly black hair which covers most of his exposed skin.

    Biography:
Earl can't tell you all that much about his life. He remembers the orphanage, the mean girls who sat on the monkey bars and made fun of his stutter. He remembers sitting outside the watchmaker's shop, watching with fascination as the arms of the clock rotated, comforted by the constant clicking. He remembers cutting open the watchmaker's daughter, the sticky, warm feeling as he plunged his hand into the neat incision around her belly button. No, no. Those are bad memories, Earl. Bad memories...

If you looked into his file, you would know he murdered 17 individuals over a period of six years. the victims were remarkably varied in age, gender, size, ethnicity, and all other distinguishing factors, unified only by the same precise circular incision around the belly button. Earl Kriseill was declared insane at his trial and ordered by the judge to the psychiatric ward of Shaw's Creek Correctional Facility where he was resided for the past 10 years.

Personality: Usually very happy, sublime even. He chatters away to whoever to listen, usually the walls of his padded cell. However, sharp noises and ticks have been known to set off bizarre temper tantrums which range from throwing objects about to curling up and crying.

Prison Mentality: It is difficult to tell which of Earl's oddities he brought with him to Shaw's Creek, and which were caused by the rhythms of life in the psychiatric ward.

Skills/Talents: Immensely powerful, much stronger than he appears. Ability to sit still for hours, perhaps days on end.

Shame this never got off the ground.
