WOTM: Theme Choice (Experimental)

That aside, I'd like to clarify something about the "antagonist" component. That being mainly that it really is not an "antagonist" component, or at least it really shouldn't be labeled as such. No where in the component description does it say that the antagonist is the main PoV- I agree that that doesn't make a lot of sense. What it says, is that creatures ordinarily depicted as antagonists (like demons) are now the protagonist, and the types of characters that are usually "good" are now "evil". In that case, the demons aren't antagonists anymore. They're protagonists. And are there works of fiction that have successfully pulled off the idea of making a demon or otherwise evil being the protagonist before? Yes. I'll gladly point out examples if need be, but the point is, it's worked before and it'll work again.

That explanation right there was the 'role reversal' component, not the antagonist one. With that one you probably meant to say 'villain' instead of 'antagonist.'

I didn't think the Seven Sin's was that interesting until I started reading the components. The Role Reversal sounds interesting. I voted for Sacrifice and Fantasy, two more general themes, to keep the stories from being too similar. We've been sorely lacking science fiction stories of late.

It was my idea, that one. We've used it in previous WOTM contests so I didn't really think about the wording before I just threw it in there. I'll make a note of that for next time.

Also, for the love of... At first it was like "it's too restrictive!!" Now it's "too broad!!" MAKE UP YOUR MINDS!!! I'm kidding, really, the criticism is appreciated from all of you.

Well the other two won't be completely trashed- especially after such a close race between Sacrifice and Seven Sins. We'll only be throwing away themes that really don't fare well- the rest will probably show up in another poll. Heck, at this point, I'm not even sure if I want to completely toss Fantasy. It still had a fair amount of support.
