The Punk Music Thread and lots of it ~

A general thread for those of us who enjoy and/or are obsessed with punk music.

This thread can be open for discussion about old punk, the rise of hardcore, post-punk, Post-hardcore, pop-punk or whatever sub-genre is associated with Punk music.

I'll start by displaying some of my favorites of any of the punk genres.

    Post-Hardcore

    • A Day To Remember
    • A Skylit Drive
    • Alesana
    • Black Veil Brides
    • Chiodos
    • D.R.U.G.S.
    • Escape The Fate
    • Hawthorne Heights
    • In Fear And Faith
    • Memphis May Fire
    • Senses Fail
    • Silverstein
    • Sleeping With Sirens

    Pop-Punk

    • Anarbor
    • Mayday Parade
    • Go Radio
    • My Chemical Romance

Those are some of my frequented bands. Yes, as you can see from my tastes in punk music, I am a big fan of screaming, and the emo-pop aspects of Post-Hardcore.

I am hard pressed to call MCR punk. I don't say this to knock on anyone. I just never felt the energy, or the rough edge from them that I associate with punk bands. But I feel like that about almost all pop-punk. Its to polished, to produced.

Also. Title Fight is hella dope.

    Two bands I listen to:

    Devotchkas - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUwpXMcI_gk

    The Pist - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49WuVTOTrEs

made by the ever charming and talented Lillian Thorne.

I understand what you mean about how MCR is questionable punk music. I think everything from The Black Parade and earlier albums would be a punk-ish kind of vibe.

Listen to Slipknot(just got Antennas to Hell and it is AWESOME). Rammstein and Eisbrecher are some good German bands, if you can speak German of course. Oceans Ate Alaska, Crown the Empire, Evanescence, those are all really good. So is Halestorm, Chevelle, Asking Alexandria, Avenged Seven Fold, Marilyn Manson, and the Deftones.

    MCR is definite punk.

M.S.I., True Sounds of Liberty, The Misfits, Black Flag, Henry Rollins Band, Green Day, The Offspring. And of course Lamb of God! The best of the best. Metal through and through, but yet it's also infused with so much punk.

To be fair tp. They are tihter knit to the Emo-wave then anything. None of my Punker friends will even touch MCR. Before they hit it big, their sound was more punk like I feel.

That, and Gerard is a far better comic writer then musician XD
