So, I've recently re-read my favorite series - The Night Angel Trilogy, by Brent Weeks. The books follow the life of Azoth, a street rat in the city of Cenaria, who wants to get out of the slums and make a better life for himself. He ends up achieving this goal, by apprenticing under the Wetboy Durzo Blint ( Wetboys are sort of like.. assassins, but a lot better, and they utilize sort of.. passive magics. ) and changes his name to Kylar Stern.

I could spend all day describing the series, but I won't - I'm mostly looking for people who know of the books, and have maybe read a few of them - but, failing that, there's a wikia with a bunch of info on the series.

I'm thinking of basing the plot a few years after the last book, or maybe a few hundred before the series started; the main plot point would be a race for control of the ka'kari (six magical gems which grant the user a unique ability).
