    Accessory to Syn 1x1

A cold chill rendered the air nearly unbearable; still Marcus made his way across the street. His hands were placed within the warmth of his pockets and his hood covered and shrouded his face in darkness. It was pretty quiet, and the only sound that made any attempt at all to breach this silence had to be the buzz from a pitiful bug swarming around the light post lining the street. Marcus did this almost every night, it was his escape from his 'loving' mother and the solitude that his home provided. Sure he was always alone, this was something he had come to find peace in, but on occasion a small little creature would come to greet him and keep him company, especially at the park. he had come to known those hard wood make shift castle floors to be a sanctuary, from everything. He could hide in the darkness and just listen to the sound of Nature.

A short sigh passed his pale lips and he lowered his hood to let the perfectly straight mess of hair fall over his eyes and touch just above his lips. It was cold now that he had stopped walking but the hood was getting to be annoying as well so there was no winning in the situation. The Sky was a dismal dark blue and the tiniest of stars were scattered around just as the artist for the night designed it. Marcus grabbed hold of the rope and started to pull himself up higher, into the largest tower, which happened to be his favorite place. Finally after his normal agenda of a hellish day he was free to just sit in the cold calm air and think to himself without being disturbed.

Alya had a plan tonight; she was going to sneak out past dark for the first time. Everyone else had gone off to bed; now all that was left was to do it. She crawled out of her bed and walked up to her window and placed her hands on it like she was going to open it and paused. Her hands were shaking. She didn't know why she wanted to sneak out, but she was going to...She just had to open the window. She closed her eyes and forced it open. The window made a soft squeak that she hoped didn't wake anyone...Why was noise so much louder when one was trying to be as quiet as possible? She waited for another few seconds before she grabbed her flash light and climbed through the window. "Crap,"she whispered; it was freezing...In her excitement she'd forgotten her jacket, so she had to climb back in and grab it, she also grabbed her yellow knit-cap that covered her ears and climbed back out the window. "Hopefully, Micah didn't chicken out,"she whispered as she started making her way to the park.

When she got there she didn't see anyone,"Oh, I'm gonna kill that Micah,"she huffed and looked up. "This is stupid,"she rolled her eyes and climbed to the top of the slide and decided to wait there for a few minuted before concluding that Micah did, in fact, bail on her. She crossed her arms and looked up at the sky. The view of the sky from town was awful; all the lights kept people from seeing what the sky really looked like. She sighed and shoved her hands in her pocket. She didn't notice that someone else was already there. She looked over at the old castle and saw someone at the top. Was it Micah? She pushed herself down the slide and started towards it, moving a bit faster when a soft breeze blew past and gave her a chill. When she was at the bottom she looked up,"Micah,"she called,"Is that you?"

Crickets chirped in the background singing their little hearts out to the night. Over all the scene was incredibly peaceful and Marcus finally felt somewhat safe in the cold embrace of the darkness. That and the voices had not started in with trying to urge him to do bad things yet. All of that peace had to come to an end though, sooner or later he would have to return to that place, he probably would even be caught by her.. and what came after that.. He cringed at the thought and sighed to himself. Then out of the perfect darkness a sing song voice echoed through the slide and met his ears.

His body froze in place and the cold chill that crept along his spine became almost torturous. Had he already been found out, and who was this Micah person that was being called. Surely the voice was from below and he was the only other one here; or so he thought anyways. It took everything he had but he forced his muscles to budge so that he could move and look through the bright yellow bars down at the young girl. He had seen her before.. She was just like the rest.. she was from the class he was forced to attend each and every day. Was she actually here to beat him like the rest or point at him in scorn.. he was good at holding back those urges in school, because his mother had told him what would happen if he didn't; but here he didn't know how long he would be able to keep her alive. Still if he didn't answer her, she probably would come up and look, and then his fortress would be breached and it wouldn't be safe anymore.. He couldn't have that.

Still his muscles tightened in reposal to his demand. A soft wince of pain came from him from the after affect of todays lesson and then he pushed to his feet standing as a silhouette in the absolute darkness. His eyes were a shimmering bright blue color and his black hair only masked that unfamiliar glow slightly. He had no time to waste though; Marcus started his descent down the yellow stepping ladder and then stepped foot on the wood chips approaching the girl cautiously. "umm... no.. Its Marcus...I..Im sorry..." he was terrified, at any moment she could start throwing rocks at him, beat him scold him whatever she chose to do.. From there he had no idea what he would do... what he would do to her..

Alya watched with a tilted head as the person at the top of the castle stood and began to descend the yellow bars. She stepped back to give him room once he was back on the ground. First she noticed he seemed scared. She frowned; had she scared him? She didn't mean to. Then she noticed who it was; it was that boy from school that everyone bullied on. Alya sighed; no wonder he was scared...Did he think she was going to hurt him? She took a deep breath,"Marcus,"she repeated in a soft, friendly tone,"Well, it's a bed thing for Micah you aren't him. He was supposed to meet me here, but he chickened out,"she watched him and reached out and gently placed a hand on his upper arm. She gave it a friendly squeeze when she saw that he was still shaking,"Hey,"she would sound worried,"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to scare you. I don't bite,"she chuckled softly,"Not hard anyway,"she joked and tilted her head again,"Oh come on, I'm not that scary am I? My name's Alya by the way."

The only thing she could think about as she looked at him was how the others treated him at school; she was sure she said her share of hurtful things about him. She frowned; she wasn't going to pretend she hadn't. Alya felt awful. He hadn't spoken much, but she could tell he wasn't as bad as they all made him seem. She figured how lonely he must be and how scared to go to school he must be. She couldn't say she understood how he felt....Alya never had much trouble finding friends; though, the friends she found weren't the kind of people that were considered normal. "Wanna come to the swings with me,"she asked from no where and held her hand out for him.

What he expected and the reality of it all was just short of enough of driving him mad in absolute anxiety and confusion. She was standing here kind, calm, in his presence, after all of this time of seeing this same girl in his class and never once even being noticed by her. That was one good thing anyways, she had never directly beat on him or tried anything against him, but still she had played the role of a stranger up until now. His bright blue eyes met her own and he almost felt a tear running down his eye but it seemed to evaporate as soon as it had emerged. He was actually for the most part at a loss for words, and what to say back to her, so he said the only thing he could think of that would at least vaguely meet the situation well. " th.. thank you.."

A cool breeze passed between them but it felt warm around his pale flesh. "Why in hell would you think her?" It was that time again.. they were back, they heard his walls begin to shatter and of course they returned in the time he most definitely did not want them to. Convincing tools of his imagination that sought to trick him at every turn and tempt him into doing bad things. An internal battle was waging inside of him but she would never know, either way the battle went she would never know. Marcus still just cast her a wary smile. "Umm .." he had never had this chance before, a chance to actually talk with someone aside from his mother, and those she deemed "appropriate." Still he couldn't let it pass he had to fight the voices.. A soft whisper met his lips " I refuse" it was hardly audible at all. "So umm what actually brought you to the park?" He knew it was slightly straight forward and actually diggy, and oh shit... he had forgotten dress her introduction.." Oh um I also like your name, its really pretty its umm nice to talk with you.." The voices had silenced and despite the fact he was shaking even worse than before.. he had successfully began a conversation with someone he WANTED to.. unplanned not acted out.. nothing just a conversation..

She watched him carefully as his fear turned more into nerves. She gave him a friendly smile, with a hint of shyness. She didn't know why he was thanking her; did he really think she was going to hurt him? She giggled at his loss for words; it was cute...He was cute, too, she thought as she was able to get a better look at him. She waited until he was finished saying what he had to say, a soft blush colored her cheeks when he complemented her name. "Thank you,"she replied before she got to explaining why she was at the park. "I was supposed to meet my friend Micah here. This was going to be our first time sneaking out after dark,"she shook her head and rolled her eyes,"But he didn't show...So I guess you get to put up with me until I get scared enough to go home. I haven't come out here just to go straight home,"she looked in the direction of her house, then back at him. She was kind of wondering the same thing...Why he was at the park at this time of night...She heard...Rumors, but she wasn't sure if they were true or not,"Why are you here this time of night,"she didn't have to ask his name...She already knew his name...Everyone at school knew his name, but that wasn't exactly a good thing for him. "Um...I really don't like how the others treat you at school...And I'm sorry I haven't done anything about it, but don't worry! Next time it happens, I'll do something! But, good things it's the weekend, eh?" She asked with a giggle, then took his hand.

She started leading him over to the swings,"So, why are you here at the park now? and do you do this a lot,"she suddenly wanted to know more about him. He was suddenly interesting to her. She didn't know much about him...No one seemed to know much about him, but they said bad things about him anyway. She sighed again as she took a seat on one of the swings and waited for him to take a seat on the other. She wondered how much longer she had before she had to get back home before getting caught. She also wondered how much trouble she would be in if she did get caught. She tilted her head and looked up at the sky and started moving her swing slightly.

The more she said the more he realized that for once he was actuall safe with another being. The brilliant shimmer of his blue ees met hers as she explained her reasoning for coming. Still he was of course taken off guard when she took his hand. It wa sa first for him female interaction aside from his Mothers.. No he wasn't going to think of that, not right now, there was plenty of time for that when he was alone. He followed behind her shadow and took a moment but set himself nicely into a swing next to her and slowly started pushing off of his feet to gain a little momentum to just be swining lightly. " I come here every night actually..' he said looking down just the slightest bit embarrased. She had such a cute tone to her voice, and he had actually found himself watching her before in school with her friends, but that wasn't something to tell her, not now.. it would probably scare her that someone like him had been watching her. "I sneak out every night though just to come here and think most of the time.. its just calm here.." he stated actually smiling this time as he looked over at her. "I actually let them hurt me at school.." He was sure this would surprise her maybe even upset her but it was true. " i let them because I hope that maybe some day they will realize that I am nice, that I would do anthing to make friends even if it means saccrificing my own body.. " His voice had cooled exponentially now and he had actuall stopped shaking now. It was a truth he really and truly hoped for, he could beat them up no problem but it would have solved absolutely nothing.. Still he needed to change the subject out of this dismal pit. "Do you have a lot of friends, like Micah, are you gus pretty good friends?"

Alya didn't exactly have an easy time making friends, she was a bit shy herself, but it wasn't that hard for her. Now she knew why those guys really beat on him; just to get a reaction out of him. She suddenly felt very angry and scowled at the ground. He didn't seem upset about it, so she didn't know why it pissed her off so much. She put on a smile and looked back over at him,"Well, you don't have to do that anymore," she used her legs to swing herself a bit more,"I'll be your friend,"she offered,"And we can meet here at night...If you want, that is,"she caught herself blushing and was glad it was too dark for him to tell. She stopped herself with her feet,"But if you don't just, that's fine. We can still be friends,"she wasn't going to take no for an answer either. He wasn't getting out of this,"And I won't take 'no' for an answer on the friends thing,"she warned him with a sly grin, before she looked up at the sky.

He was right; it was very peaceful here at night. She looked back at him when she started to answer his question about Micah,"He was my brother at one point,"she sighed,"My parents adopted him, but he was such a turd...Always getting into trouble, but we got very close to each other, so after they sent him back to the adoption home we stayed friends. And now he lives with Miss Wilkins...I think she was lonely after her husband passed. Nice lady,"she finished,"And the one time I want to do something like this and he chickens out on me. Oh well, I guess it's a good thing you were here...I'm pretty sure I would have been scared to death if I came out here and was the only one...Quiet is nice, but the way some of these things look in the dark,"she shuddered as she looked around at some of the other structures at the park.

Huh? He started as he sat there watching her. He was beyond confused by this point, she was so perfectly kind with him, even after she actually realized who he was. Still that fear of letting someone in was a lingering plague due to his living experience with people. "So we can be friends?" he questioned trying his best to hide the excitement in his voice and even more so the caution. " I would actually like that.." There really was no way to hide it though, he was excited, just by the idea of having someone that knew him. Someone that didn't scold or beat on him, or harass with every breath they took. "Oh So he was actually pretty much your family before things got our of hand then?" Marcus tilted his head slightly in question as he pushed himself to swing just a bit harder and keep up with her a bit better. "I think its good that your friend found a nice lady to be his family." he said thinking back to those couples with children he had seen before in the church, how they had all sat together happily.. He also sat next to his mother but it wasn't the same, not at all. if he even sneezed or thought to move during prayer which made him highly uncomfortable anyways then he would suffer hell when away from the watchful judgmental eyes of the Catholic dominion.

Marcus hadn't noticed himself spacing though and had almost missed her comment. "scared?" he questioned slightly. It made sense in theory of course but to him this was perfect.. even being here alone he actually felt safer than anywhere else.. That was the truth of it all. "I like the darkness and howling wind.. it almost makes me feel comfortable.. er.." He blushed a bit turning his head slightly.. " I wonder does that make me weird?" He was sure it did. there were plenty of reasons the kids didn't like him and most of the time it would be considered weird, and least from what he had read before about social expectation. "I really do try not to be weird, but.. well things that normal people don't like I do.. Im sorry." He said turning even a bit darker.. He was always so worried and second guessing himself, especially here because he didn't want to scare her away.. "If you want to come here at night I can make sure you're not scared." His eyes beamed at her and he smiled, as much as he could. It was comforting, convincing.. on that pale child like face.. and still no one but he knew just how many faces he had beneath the skin.

"I'm glad he did, too. He calmed down a lot after he started living with her. She's an older woman, so...I imagine he takes care of her. I think she was just lonely and looking for someone to care for and someone to care for her. She has no other family,"Alya pushed off with her feet again and started swinging slowly, using her feet just enough to keep the momentum going,"Maybe you should come with him to get him back for ditching me tonight? Or maybe not, he probably has a good reason for not showing...He wouldn't skipped out of sneaking out after dark for something that wasn't important." She sighed and looked over at Marcus as she listened to him speak about the night and how it made him feel comfortable. She chuckled at his last question and nodded in agreement,"It does, but you aren't the only one who finds comfort in the dark, and everyone has something about them that makes them weird. Take me for example,"she grinned,"I have a strange obsession with Alice in Wonderland. I really don't know why. I even memorized The Walrus and the Carpenter,"she made a nervous chuckle and shook her head.

"I am scared of the dark actually, not scared of things most girls are. Like snakes; I have a pet snake. Her name is Harley. And yes, she was named after the Batman character. Blood python...Got to be careful with her. The only thing I don't like doing is feeding her, because I don't like to hear the mice's bones crunching when she squeezes them to death,"Alya shuddered,"Are you scared of spiders? A lot of people I know are, which I personally cannot understand. They do a lot for us, and tarantulas can develop personalities just like a dog or cat." She looked at her watch and sighed,"Well, I should be getting home now,"she gave him a frown,"I'll meet you here tomorrow then,"she said as she stood from her swing and stopped his before giving him a friendly hug and kiss on the cheek,"Or maybe we can hang out some before then."
