The Rose
JackxKat (Vampire/Lycan RP)
When the sun set a young woman slowly woke from her slumber. A soft yawn escaped her rose colored lips as she stretched before slowly rolling out of bed. She heard a few other clan members stir from the house that they shared, and the redhead grinned as she quietly slipped from her room to one of the closest bathrooms to get ready. It didn't take the young woman too long to get ready before she changed into a pair of black tight fitting pants, a pair of thick black combat boots, and a long sleeved black shirt. She tied her shoulder length hair into a messy ponytail before looking through her room for her accessories.
Okay, perhaps weapons shouldn't be considered accessories, but she rarely left the house without her dagger or her knife. It was habit, but it was also to keep herself safe as she traveled alone. Ever since she was a young child she was trained to fight for their clan, and to protect their kind. So, it's safe to say that fighting was literally drilled into her head which led to her becoming one of the better fighters of their vampire clan. It was good to be known as one of the higher up vampires, but it was also a curse. Whether she liked it or not, she was normally brought in on other people's fights, or brought on missions to help defeat any enemy.
So, when she got time to herself she liked to explore. Explore in a sense that she could savor being alone, but also hunt for some fresh human blood. Her cravings had kicked in, and rumor around the town was that some humans often met in the forest not too far from her place. It would be a discrete place to meet a victim, and it wouldn't be easy for others to hear the cries as she took the very essence that helped humans live. Just the thought of fresh blood brought a smile to her face as she finally slipped outside before quietly closing the door behind her. Once she was in the clear she took off in as sprint towards the forest, smiling as the cool wind hit her face, and tousled her red curls. Yep, tonight was going to be perfect.

It was an infinite wave of trees that rushed past his barely visible body as his Strong wolf like legs pushed him to bound from place to place within the deepest parts of the forest. A small setting of elk appeared to be grazing not far off from his location and the Golden eyes of the wolf locked onto his prey with a guttural growl only slightly escaping the maw of the great creature. Everything stopped all at once and the only disobedience to the masterful level of silence was the brush of leaves from where the wolf had been just hardly a second prior. The sharp yelp of one of the Elk echoed the forest and caused the ravens to take flight as the vivid deathly, hungry growls of the wolf tore into the flesh of the creature just enough so that it now lay at his feet along with its family, lifeless as could be. The wind stirred for only a few more seconds though and the vision of the creature changed, the definition of the forest diminished with his size and now where the creature had once been stood a man.
Ryan stood like a statue in the pure form of his naked visage. Dark almost ember brown hair fell around his face in the most wild mess, which held no contrast to the neat cut of the mans goatee and side burns. Azure deep golden eyes just like what the creature had wielded now rest in much smaller slits and the vision that had taunted to trip him out before was no flooded with a wave of crimson, no not so much a wave as a beautiful streak of the most perfect red. He was transfixed on it for a second before his vision finally leveled to its human level and he realized it was the hair of a young woman, still the scent from her direction could not be denied, she was a vampire...A low growl met his lips but he pushed it back as he lowered to raise the hunt upon his shoulders and straighten out again. His eyes scanned the forest furiously watching her every movement as the dimming coals of a fire started to fade out, that seemed to take her interest.. " is she really about to feed then.." he questioned. He had always thought the nobles, those that held this scent fed upon the more noblemen that feared for their lives and had sacrificed their hospitality to the creatures. " curious.." he said a light baritone and approached crouching on all fours and taking the extra effort to bound into a tree just above the plot waiting to happen.. He landed without a sound and like a stalker he would find his amusement aside from hunting in the culling of this young Vampiress' prey.

The slight carelessness of the young woman might have been her biggest downfall at the moment. She was too concerned with not hearing the orders of the other vampires around her, nor was she being forced to threaten the prey for answers concerning whereaboous of more victims. The silence of the forest was calming and for once she could feel young and free, unlike every other night when she felt ten times older wth the weight of the world on her shoulders. Though, one part of her was still paying attention when she heard the cries of the elk. Her ears perked up slightly, and she stopped dead in her tracks.
It was obvious to her now that she wasn't alone, yet she wasn't going to leave just yet. She would just have to calculate her moves more carefully, and watch out incase hunters were around. Just the thought of tangling with a hunter brought a morbid smile to the pale beauty's face. A challenge for blood sounded like fun since a good old game of cat and mouse always amused her. Though as she took in a deep breath of air she could smell that the hunter wasn't a human. A soft sigh escaped her lips as the scent finally registered. "Of course, I wouldn't have an easy night to hunt. Stupid lycans always happen to lurk where all the good prey is." She softly grumbled, making it a point to slowly walk in the opposite direction from where Ryan was.

She was a curious creature truly, even though she obviously knew of his presence she didn't back off of the prey, and from the obvious formal blood scent she held there was no doubt in his mind just how high standing of a being she was in this cursed world. No he hadn't forgotten, he still remembered when the vampire Lycan war had plagued this world. He remembered the plea his parents made for his life to be spared, the Lie of the Elder vampire that tricked them; lied to them that I would be spared.. Of course it was only made true by a single act of luck and timing with the reinforcements. He snarled slightly to himself and leaped to the next branch tracking her.. He knew that attacking her would be dumb, it would cause a chaos this world had not seen for quite a while, a chaos that only he seemed to remember, so why did he follow her?
It didn't take long for him to catch up to her and find himself gazing down upon her with bright moonlit golden eyes. She had beautiful red hair, lighted just perfectly under the pale moon light. her skin was a porcelain white composed in absolute perfection. Each and every curve was defined and pronounced to add that perfect lustful factor to her visage. Why? Why in all hell was she a vampire? He took the moment to regret the poor luck of this situation and then before she could take another step he leaped down right in front of her and landed in a crouched position. His strong bare legs curved perfectly and his hands left the ground with the rest of his body as he stood up straight in all of his bare glory.. "well isn't this quite the surprise? A noble after all.." He bowed at first mockingly but realized just how much spite had been laced within his greetings. Now that he stood before her he couldn't help but realize actually just how beautiful the young vamp was.. flawless really and in his own mind he was once again cursing his horrible luck. Of course he was attractive. he had hi Long dark brown wild hair. Thick strong shoulders and he was pretty fit in the form of muscle as well. over all strong.. very strong.. So the only curse he could find was that she was a vampire, and the rules were ..absolute.. between both of their kinds.
"Ryan at your service milady... "

A small smirk settled on the redhead’s face as she thought about the situation she was in. She could both run and try to avoid conflict with the lycan that was not too far from her, or she could actually stand her ground and find herself a victim. The second option seemed more her style. She wasn’t about to back down from a fight if that’s what the lycan wanted, but in another sense she was curious as to why he was alone. From what she knew about the lycans they didn’t like to travel alone anymore. At least they were fond of traveling alone since the feud that the vampires had with the lycans back in the day. She was still told stories about the battle since she wasn’t born at the time. It was amusing to hear about the past they had, but she would be interested to see if the lycan would actually stop and confront her, or if he would allow her to carry on with her hunting.
Eva heard the rustling of branches and twigs as he followed her, which only caused her curiosity to deepen. It seemed that if he was actually putting the effort to follow her this far, then he would probably follow her wherever she went. No matter though, she actually liked a challenge. Her eyes scanned the area to make sure that this wasn’t a setup, and grinned slightly when she didn’t smell any other lycans around. In fact, she didn’t really smell any humans around either, so it would be her and the male for as long as he wanted to keep up with her. If she wanted to be curious and think of anymore questions, she didn’t have time to since Ryan jumped down in front of her. Eva stopped dead in her tracks, and her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked over the make in front of her. When he spoke it only deepened her dislike for him. “You know, there’s no need to act like a complete ass. Who are you to call me a noble or have that kind of attitude about it?” She asked, a slight mocking tone laced through her voice. Eva wasn’t one who would put up with people’s shit, and she wasn’t going to start by letting this lycan say anything he pleased. If anything, she would shut him down with anything he spoke of, and deny any accusation that he might throw her way. After all he had no real proof that she was a noble, but the only way he could prove it was if she actually admitted it.
“Well Ryan, you can do me a favor by moving out of my way. Unless you want to talk civilly..”

As he expected even the slightest word crossing his lips and she was already looking down at him. Her words held every bit of scorn he had predicted they would and still he just grinned to himself turning and shaking his head even while she was talking.. " it is that.. that alone which tells me you are what I said you were. How can you just think that you understand me, that you know for certain what my intentions in my greeting happened to be." he had a subtle smirk upon his face now and actually seemed more relaxed despite that heavy amount of judgement. " also if you were trying to play of that you are not a noble then it might have been more of a long shot for me if you had taken it as a compliment and then attempted to lie to me, much rather than saying something along the lines of "Who are YOU to call me a noble?" After all that the purest judgement of a Noble I know.." His words held such power in them, intelligence even in interpretation. "I actually wasn't intending to mock you completely at first, in fact I was just curious as to the smell I caught." Of course he had known she was a vampire long before coming close to her, but that visual realization was something he needed in most cases.
Still though there was still a chance to get off at a better start with her.. After all the wars had ended and who was he as a person to try and stir tenacity back up between the races. "So I am up to civil conversation, that is if you are willing to drop the fact that you are indeed a Noble and I a scoundrel for the sake of equal terms." he raised his brow at a perfect arc and awaited her decision. He had never been one to share conversation with a noble much less a vampire but she intrigued him in her own way, still there was something to be missed by her accepting his offer. "I have that humans scent that you were tracking.. he is yours and its likely if you do well at blending you might be able to get a buffet from the mix in the scents of his location.. I even give you my word that I will help you if you do so choose to spare some time to speak with a man. the choice of course is yours as it alway has been."

Eva crossed her arms over her chest at his accusation and sighed in an irritated way. Was it too much to ask if she just wanted to get out of the house to go hunting? This was the exact reason that she left the home and to get away from the elders and everyone who wanted to bug her. Though she only seemed to grow more irritated as he spoke. “Listen, just because I jumped the gun and got all snippy about you talking about me being a Noble doesn’t mean that I have that official title. I just really dislike when anyone decides they want to pin a label on me no matter what it is.” She commented with a soft sigh. “I cannot assume your intentions, but usually when people bow before me it’s only for two reasons. 1.) Would be that they are mocking my status, and 2.) That you really think I’m a higher being than what I am.” She stated. “Now, I don’t see it as being the first one, so I can pretty much weed it down to being the first option. If you had to pick between the two, which one would you pick?” It was a curious question, yet it seemed the irritation was slowly subsiding from her voice. Maybe, just maybe this was the type of distraction she needed from her everyday life of battles and bloodshed.
While there was a gap in their speaking she walked over to a tree and leaned against it before tousling her red hair as she observed Ryan. His next statement got her attention but she was still slightly wary of admitting to him that she was a Noble. Though he already guessed correctly, so who was she to deny him the truth? “Okay, fine you win. I actually am a Noble, but unlike everyone out there I don’t enjoy the status. Happy?” She asked, and was about to add something else when she heard his proposal of letting her have the human. “I really would appreciate if I could get to the human, so I will accept your offer of talking. But, will you keep your word?” Eva curiously asked, and held her hand out. “I don’t really understand the way that humans do things, but I believe they do a handshake to solidify the deal?”

Even though he knew he had her dead to rights, she was one hell of a fighter. This only amused him though as he looked upon her. Finally with a change of tone between both of them however he found that they could actually be atleast moderately civil with each other. What was more she gave him the confirmation he had been waiting for. "Hmm an odd noble that is but I now have further reason to like you so I am not complaining.." He winked at her though just before she made her woes apparent. " Oh you are worried I will waste your time then steal your prey, no im actually fine without it, I prefer eating the true spoils of a hunt rather than some fool.. however your choice is your own and M words is mine.. thus.." he then extended his hand to her taking hers and shaking it with a slight tug. " sorry about that, I don't mean to come off as such a brute honestly." He rubbed at the back of his wild nest of hair and then let himself slide along the bark of the tree until he was sitting facing her in an indiant style sitting position. "So what family do you belong to miss? Oh and im sure that since we are being civil now names aren't too farfetched in a formal meet aye? I am Ryan Archer, of the Dark Moon Clan, you likely know of us as the Hounds of Slaughter, of course its just one of our more famous nicknames.." He chuckled to himself then and made it appaaren with the sarcassm laced in his tone that he wasn't too fond of the nick name. Starting this day he would have never of guessed that he would be enjoying civil conversation with a vamp, much less a lady noble at that.. still had he the choice he would't have changed it either.

Eva was quite surprised to see that the lycan hadn’t tried to attack yet. She wasn’t banking on the fact that he would actually keep his word to stay civil at the moment, but she couldn’t relax her shoulders due to the slight tension that she still felt. “I might be an odd noble, but I would much rather be that compared to the older nobles who prefer killing everything in their path.” She commented with a slight roll of her eyes. Though she couldn’t help but arch her eyebrow at his comment about liking her. She was starting to become rather interested in Ryan, but she wasn’t going to fully let that show. It only seemed that with each time he spoke she started to trust him a little bit more. Not saying that she fully trusted, but a little bit of added trust could go far with this situation. “Hey, I’ll let the other wolves have the leftovers from my hunt. In fact, I don’t mind who gets the leftovers, but it’s up to whoever wants it.” She commented with a soft laugh. Though she couldn’t help but smile softly as he shook her hand. “It’s alright. I suppose that I can forgive you for one little mistake, but after this I don’t promise you anything.” It was a slightly cocky move, but she didn’t want him to take her trust lightly. While he sat she decided to stay standing, but she was curiously watching him. Though she was pretty intrigued that he actually came out and told her what family he belonged to. “I’m Eva Stronghold, and I belong to the Night Children family. I suppose you cannot call us all children, but my ancestors were the one that came up with the name. Though I am quite honored to hear the family you come from. They sound rather amusing to me. Nickname and all. ” She commented with a laugh.
