Kimiyo's primary talent is her intellect and she is generally very knowledgeable, which allows her to make informed decisions with ease. More specifically, her expertise lies in medicine, and she is capable of treating most wounds and ailments quickly and effectively - able to diagnose them with even more rapidity. An enthusiastic astrologist, Kimiyo is also well-versed in relation to space and knows the Milky Way in detail. She is confident in her own intelligence and is thus a good communicator, allowing her to share her opinions, ideas and suggestions without feeling uncomfortable.

Powers: Photokinesis
Doctor Light has the ability to manipulate ambient light for a variety of purposes. She can absorb all forms of illumination, and release that absorbed energy as blinding flashes of light, or destructive laser beams. She can refract lightwaves to create holographic images. Doctor Light can focus photons into "hard light", allowing her to fire blasts of pure force, create protective barriers or "hard light" constructs. She can fly by riding lightwaves and can also turn into light, thus making her invisible to the naked eye.

Weaknesses: Darkness
Her weakness is that she needs a light source to fuel her powers, and being placed in an area of absolute darkness completely nullifies her abilities. Psychologically, she is a painful perfectionist and considers the slightest imperfection a complete failure, and so she is rarely satisfied with her performance. She is also relatively weak in terms of physical combat.

History: A brief summary
As a child, Kimiyo Hoshi had been well looked after. Both parents were wealthy doctors, and the three of them lived in a prestigious area of Tokyo in a grand house. She was naturally very bright, but was also determined and hardworking, which lead to her being very academically successful from a young age. Her parents perhaps thrust this upon her, as anything less than full marks was considered a failure in their eyes - the loss of a single mark meaning she would not be rewarded or even praised for her achievements. Because of this, she became an intense perfectionist and her own worse critic, her own expectations exceeding even those of her parents. Due to her scholarly commitments and her being an only child, Kimiyo was a relatively lonely child.
After attending the prestigious University of Tokyo, Kimiyo became a renowned medical doctor and astrologist. Whilst studying astrological activity alone one night, she found herself transformed into the superheroine Doctor Light when she was struck by the rays of the star Vega, projected upon to her by a cosmic entity with the intention of creating a saviour for Earth. As Doctor Light, Kimiyo was bestowed with complete control over light itself and for several years she effectively protected her homeland from external threats.
It was only upon the death of Superman that she found her services required elsewhere and felt obliged to join the Justice League in order to contribute in the global effort to fill the Man of Steel's shoes.

Age: Inalculable within the human frame of reference. Alive since at least the dawn of Creation.

Skills: Skilled swordsman and tactician, speaker of multiple languages, unsurpassed expert on world religions and magic

Powers: Flight at near supersonic speeds

Enhanced strength, speed, stamina, agility and durability

Immortality: In some cases, this takes the form of being returned to Earth from Heaven after being "killed" on Earth.

Immune to aging and disease and does not need food, water air or sleep.

Natural Healing Factor

Angelic Overmind: Allows communication with any animal, detection of magic and the ability to sense good and evil in environments and within people.

Sonic flash: A powerful sonic attack. Can kill other (rebellious) angels in the Earth realm instantly

"Red Sea trick"--Can divide bodies of water, leaving a central dry path

Heavenly Armor-- Provides excellent protection. Further enhances his foot speed, strength and durability.

Flaming Sword: Projects heavenly fire
Can slice through virtually any substance and material, cutting through "all bonds"
Can provide access to other dimensions and planes of existence by piercing dimensional boundaries with sufficient power.


Weaknesses: Zauriel is not invulnerable, but simply very durable. He is vulnerable to magic. His sword can be exhausted of power, including being "blown out" or quenched by powerful cold attacks, especially ones that are magical in nature.

Appearance: Zauriel's skin is an unearthly white, as are his wings. His hair, which is cut in a flat-top, is a silvery grey. His somewhat thin and long face has handsome features including high cheekbones and a rugged jaw and his eyes are red.

Bio:

Zauriel has served in the Eagle host of angels since before the Creation of the Universe, and has been a guardian angel of numerous humans.

Though the Almighty has had many prophets and teachers to serve as representatives to the human race over the millienia, the new metahuman age demands a more overt approach and the dark times the Earth is experiencing require a special beacon of hope, an ambassador that cannot be dismissed as just another well-intentioned person or religious huckster. Zauriel volunteered for this duty because of his personal regard for humans and also because he felt there could be no better way to serve the Almighty than to serve those the Almighty has loved so much.

Zauriel arrived on Earth in the past few days and has established the embassy over New York harbor. Known as The Aerie, it appears as a golden tower floating in mid-air and has already appeared on the cover of the New York Post with the screaming headline, "Castle in the Air?!!?"
