As history is written by the victor, the records of the events were quite biased. No one truly knew how many wars had gone on, as the most brutal of conflicts were conveniently "left" from the history books. This left many scars on the world, scars with no known cause. Before any of these scars could heal, new ones would be made, or old wounds would be opened by the trials of war. This created an environment where war had evolved into an art form as much of a way of life - and those who failed to practice it to a high enough standard were consumed by the very scars they hoped to heal. The cycle of life had become stagnant, in a fashion, and just how good you had to be at the Art of War just kept on increasing. It was like the seasons themselves had crumbled into one, their gods slain, and it seemed like it would last for all of eternity.
Sometimes, the victors were not those who won the wars. There exist shadows within shadows beneath the horseman of war, and within its folds there were strings dancing on puppets, parading the figureheads of the warring factions. The actions of one are not necessarily decided by the person themself, as the Kage experienced but did not know, and sometimes, just sometimes, the real victor of the war would be the one holding the strings; the horseshoe covering the hoof. Betrayal would occur just as frequently as skirmishes, and at the end of the war it could not be determined which faction had truly won - they had all fallen from grace.
A “Season Unending”, the name given to the conflict that claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocents for the greed and glory of the five nations. The years ticked on and the skirmishes continued, lighting the skies with the glint of war like the Northern Lights, fervent hues of crimson painting the sky and the ground alike, fanning the flames across a trail seen only by the souls of the departed. As the skies’ hues darkened with the enmity openly embraced, so did the ground with the same enmity spilled: The blood of the people that the wars were supposed to hold the ideals of collecting in the sky to rain its havoc upon the world once more; stirring the blinding passion within the minds of those who yet lived without being ravaged. This righteousness, the curse of holding the self aloof from one’s kin, caused the season of eternal War to repeat like a cycle. The constant clash of steel resounded through the lands like a macabre heartbeat, like a pulse for the entity gripping the land with its routine. There was little to be done about such an entity, of course, for it existed not in the world of reality, but within the minds of the Kage that had declared the ending of the season of peace...
Immortality, ironically, also had its end. From the flames of war the ashes of the departed rose up in protest and reclaimed what they had lost; peace. The ashes became just that: Ashes, never to reclaim again. And with their departing the season said to never end halted.
Welcome to Hateshinai Jiki, Sensō no Geijutsu!
This is, sort-of, a remake of Innue, Dazsos and Mine's old thread: "Sensoo no Geijutsu".
There are normally several Naruto threads rolling around on RPGuild, but we wanted to create one where there is no intrinsic "plot". There are several goals that we can preside over, but Kage will hold a lot of power in their villages and players will also be able to create their own plots, as roleplaying is an interactive story - not one controlled solely by GMs. While we will be the dominant power, we are just here to "guide" you. It's up to you to make your own story and record how your characters impact upon the world!
In terms of "incentives" to allow plots to occur, the initial premise of the thread will be as such:
Act, the First: The Chained Gods
In an effort to spite one another during the war, each of the five Kage made a pact with a defect from the Jikankizami clan in their paranoia, afraid that their own power could be subverted and turned against them: They would all seal away their own Bijuu to prevent anybody from obtaining them and using their power. As each mixed their own blood into the ink that wrote the seals, the traitor to his clan wove his power and created 9 runes to seal the Bijuu for eternity. What they did not know, however, is that each seal was mixed with the blood of the five Kage. With the traitor's power, and the Kage's power, he was able to craft seals so potent that not even his clan could break their hold.
Then, with the remainder of blood from the Kage, he created nine statuettes carved in the likeness of the Bijuu he sealed, and imbued a portion of his own chakra into them. Each would be the only item able to break his seals. He then took a portion of the Bijuu's chakra and imbued that into the respective statues before sealing them in vast underground tombs, hidden from any form of sensing by his vast power. With the Bijuu sealed away, the traitor scattered the Statuettes in long lost locations and disappeared into the fog of war.
Each Statuette corresponds to a Bijuu, and only its song can locate and awaken a Bijuu. The tombs were created not only to seal, but also to deceive and hinder those who would try to claim the "powers of Gods" for themselves. They will challenge those who enter with the correct Statue, and the people who gain one may not survive the ordeals they face.

Rules and Regulations
1) Please follow the standard rules of a roleplay here, those being: No Powerplaying, no Godmodding, no Metagaming and no Autohitting.
2) Swearing for comedic effect or as an expletive is fine, but if you are using it to abuse somebody, or, in fact, abusing them at all, the GMs will cockslap you.
3) Of the three GMs, you will need three acceptances, and the acceptance of your Kage if you are in a village, to enter the RP.
4) While I do not mind if you choose not to use my Bio format, please make your Bio format aesthetically pleasing and easy to read.
5) The power you are allowed to have in this RP is proportional to the amount of work you put into your character. A well thought out character with a fleshed out personality and a gripping history will be allowed to be much more powerful than a character whose personality is: "he's nice but if u touch his friends he will kill u" and his history is: "hes an orphan whose lived with his friends all his life and is a prodigy ninja of awesome".
6) When your character is subject to review, you will have the choice of it being public on the thread, or PMed to you. Please state which of these you would like on your bio. If you neglect to write a choice, it will be posted to the thread.
7) The GMs are not here to be your enemies. We are reasonable and rational people. If you politely inquire as to why a decision has been made about something, for example, why your jutsu has been declined when you feel it should be accepted, please do not hesitate to - politely - question and start a reasonable debate. Raging will not get you accepted.
8) You cannot reserve a Kage spot. You can apply for it, and the GMs will privately discuss your choice. (GFG SOTA) In addition, in order to apply for a Kage spot, please PM one of the GMs with your application. You are also free to add a little about why you think you would be a good Kage. [HINT HINT]

10) Your character's name, jutsu names, Kekkei Genkai/Weapon names and the likes MUST BE IN JAPANESE. This quote will explain it for you.

Kanji - The language that was first used in Japan, the characters would be singular pictograms to mean a whole word. Yama [山] means Mountain, and the Kanji for that [山] could look like a mountain range. Hôshutsu [放出] can mean Release, but is written in the native style, Kanji and therefore sounds much nicer.

To simplify, if in Google Translate there are loads of characters that look more like this: [リリース] than this: [放出] then what you've got is Katakana. In Google Translate, click the characters and look down the menu for something that resembles the second example, NOT the first!

The basic premise is the following. The naruto world has been altered heavily by a mysterious force known as Qui Languidis. Konoha has been conquered, along with the Land of Fire and Sunagakure is in a deadlock with Qui Languidis. Their goal is to reclaim an ancient relic that is supposedly the origin of the Rikkudo sennin's power and knowledge. Thus the world has been thrust into a war and those who once inhabited Konoha now reside in Iwagakure, Kumogakure, and a lesser known --but just as important-- Hyougakure. Join us to see whom will claim to the world is more valid.

Clan/Bloodline: Gohan's clan is unknown, rather he was discovered at an orphanage in Iwagakure. He was later adopted into the previous Tsuchikage's family, and was embedded with the Yonbi to keep him loyal to his nation. It is believed by many that his birth parents abandoned him due to his Hypertrichosis.

Personality: Gohan is very short-tempered and often tends to overreact to certain things. A clever man hiding an otherwise disapproving opinion of others, Gohan is a particularly kind hearted individual once you understand his often vague motives.
What defines Gohan though, is his sense of duty. He believes strongly in the stone will of Iwagakure, and that no matter what happens, the people know what they want. If the people elect a tyrant, then Gohan will accept that man, even if he is morally against it. This means he is primarily against people who take power and oppress the people, even when the civilians show obvious dislike.
Gohan shows respect to others as often as he can, even if they manage to insult the fact that he has Hypertrichosis. Gohan often tries to treat even foes with a sense of respect, and while he will fight dirty, he is willing to fight on equal terms with those he trusts or respects.
Gohan isn't just a brute though. He is a well read indivual who often draws in his spare time. He can quote many philosphers and has shown a fair knowledge on other villages, their primary religions, and even poetry.
History: It was a snow filled night in Iwagakure when a child was dropped off at an orphanage in the village of stone. A child, covered in coarse red hair that made a human child look more ape-like than human. This strange child had been abandoned... And it was the decision of orphanage to take in the strange child. It was not long before they learned that this child had Hypertrichosis, which caused hair to grow on parts of his body that it otherwise would not. While most of the adults were capable of holding back any uneasy feelings, the children found this to be a source of endless amusement and chose to tease the young child from an early age... This child was given a name befitting an ape. He was named... Son Gohan, after the famous Yonbi, Son Goku.
As a child, Gohan was lonely, and that loneliness turned to hate. He hated everybody, from the adults who were kind to him, to the children who teased him constantly. That was until one day he got angry at one particular person. He was walking down the road, and walked into a man who seemed to be in his late 50's. Of course, Gohan blamed the older man, and demanded compensation for the old man's mistake. The man turned to young child and said, "Where do you live?" Gohan was surprised, and answered truthfully. The old man left, giving Gohan a blank note. "Hold onto this." the old man said, and Gohan kept it safe.
A week later, the old man came to the orphanage, and asked to meet Gohan. The child was surprised, but he allowed himself to speak to the older man. The man asked Gohan for the paper he had given him yesterday, and Gohan returned it to its owner. The man had this to say, "Thank you, but this paper is not the only thing I plan to take home with me. I have seen how the others treat you, and I want to give you a future."
Gohan agreed, and the old man brought him home... That old man was the former Tsuchikage, who would later die of old age at the age of 96.

-Monsterous Physical Strength: Gohan possesses a incredible physical strength, allowing him to lift a full grown man with a single hand. This strength is required to hold the Adamantine Staff he wields as his primary weapon.
-Large Chakra pool: Gohan is unique in that his chakra reserves are noticeably larger than a regular shinobi. Some suggest this may be because of his larger size, he suggests otherwise.
- High Intellect: While no genius bruiser, Gohan isn't a fool. He is a veteran of many battles and as such has a great knowledge of multiple jutsu and enemies.
Name of Technique: Lava Release: Searing Lava Snake Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: A Range: N/A Nature Type: Lava Description: The user releases a large glob of lava from his mouth. The lava takes on the form of a massive snake, which surges towards the target. Much like the Water Dragon Bullet, this technique possesses a considerable amount of power. With its great size, this technique is particularly devastating against stationary enemies. Weakness: A powerful water jutsu can cause the lava to harden, weakening the attack's destructive force.
Name of Technique: Lava Release: Lava Fist Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: B Range: Close range Nature Type: Lava Description: In order to use this technique, the user must first use Lava Release Armour. By using the lava coated around his body, the user can apply shape manipulation to the lava. This is used to increase the size of the user's limbs, often resulting in greater range and greater force. Son Gohan uses this to push his opponents onto the defensive by using both range and size to overwhelm his adversaries. Weakness: Lava Armour must first be active for this jutsu to be used. It also slows down the user's attacks due to its size.
Name of Technique: Lava Release: Exploding Lava Colliding Wave Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: S Range: Depends on the amount of chakra used. Using roughly 1/4th of his massive chakra supplies, Gohan can create a field of lava that is roughly 75 meters wide and 25 meters tall. Nature Type: Lava Description: The user spits out a great volume of Lava from their mouth, swallowing up and crushing the enemy with the advancing surge. The user can ride the wave, allowing them to move at high speed, and attack the enemy, now swept off their feet, without fear of counter-attacks. This is based off Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave. Weakness: Heavy Chakra cost
Name of Technique: Lava Walking Technique Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: D Range: Self Nature Type: N/A Description: An advanced type of chakra control, akin to the walking on water technique. This jutsu requires a considerable control of ones chakra, allowing them to walk on lava. The chakra at the feet is meant to protect the user from not only falling into the lava, but from the lava's heat and corrosive qualities. Weakness: None
Name of Technique: Lava Release: Lava Whip Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: C Range: Varies Nature Type: Lava Description: The user generates lava chakra in his hand, and when he attacks he creates a whip of lava. The lava whip is used to tie up other ninja, and is effective at forcing enemies onto the defensive. Due to the extreme heat and corrosive properties, the lava whip will kill anybody it wraps around. Weakness: Vulnerable to water.
Name of Technique: Lava Release: Molten Golem Technique Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: A Range: N/A Nature Type: Lava Description: Akin to the Earth Release: Golem Technique, the user releases a large golem from his mouth. It can also be formed from pre-existing lava in the area.
The size of the golem differs depending on use, but it always possesses an ample amount of brute strength. It is also very durable, as it was left almost completely intact after being hit by a powerful explosion, detonating at point-blank range. This makes the golem ideal whether it be serving as additional support or simply as a mobile shield.
Due to being made of lava, the golem is capable of changing the size of its limbs, giving it even greater attack power. The golem can even reform, but this drains chakra from Gohan when it does this. The Lava even acts as a deterrent, keeping taijutsu foes at bay. If a water jutsu is used against it, the lava golem becomes a regular earth golem. Weakness: A powerful Water jutsu can turn it into a regular golem.
Name of Technique: Lava Release: Lava Geyser Surge Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: B Range: N/A Nature Type: Lava Description: A more advanced version of the Lava Geyser technique. The size of the lava is significantly larger than its previous variant, and even possesses a greater speed. As such, this technique is greater than the technique it is derived from. Another significant addition is the fact that it creates a pool of lava in its wake, hindering the opponent's movements. Weakness: N/A
Name of Technique: Lava Release: Erupting Volcano Technique Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu Rank: S Range: N/A Nature Type: Lava Description: The most advanced of all of Gohan's jutsu, by striking the ground with the palm of his hand, he sends a surge of chakra into the ground. (This lacks handseals as a result.) The strike sends tremors into the ground, causing a momentary earthquake that is capable of knocking over nearby buildings and momentarily disrupting enemy movement. The tremors cause the ground to crack, causing rifts for lava to pool up from the ground. The lava then gushes from the cracks in the ground, spreading rapidly over a great area. Most enemies are immediately thrown into the lava as soon as the jutsu starts, and many others are often hit by the erupting lava. The power of this jutsu is easily enough to turn the tide of battle, and Gohan can use it to reshape a battlefield to his advantage. Weakness: Takes 50% of Gohan's immense chakra reserves.
