For Derek, the band and the music was his life. It was really all he had anymore. School was but a distant memory, a dream that he could not attain. But, his music career had shot off like a rocket. So, on the balance of things, his life was...looking up? Maybe. He longed in his studio, looking over the song list one last time. His band, Deadly Plague was supposed to play alot of their old favorites, plus one more new one that they had not as of yet named. Of course, the idea for a naming contest had come up and was going to be used. So that anyone who wished to offer up a name for the song could do so.
He sighed and thought about the upcoming show. One more chance for them to make it. hit it big on the small time. Get that ever elusive record deal. He was just happy that they were headlining this time. Deadly Plague had spent far too much time in the shadows of others. It was time to get out there, make some noise, and show the world what they could do. He wore a black t=shirt with a devil making the "Keep it Metal" gesture on the front. One hand raised, the middle fingers folded down and other three making up the horns. This was complimented with jeans and a pair of black shoes. his black hair was down to his back now and his piercingly black eyes seemed to stare hauntingly at the page of music sitting in front of him. Titles were escaping him and so he threw up his hands and left it up to the audience. Then it was time to go. He grabbed his microphone and other sound equipment and followed the rest of the band out the door and loaded his stuff into the van, prepared to head to the small theater and perform later that night.
Three Hours Later
The thing that stuck out about Deadly Plague was their ink and their costumes. Each band member had specific tattoos lining their arms. Derek's mostly were his name in different languages, a dragon, a wolf, and the name of a virus that was considered deadly. Cheesy? yes. But, it was effective. He now stood on stage, dressed as the others were, in a black robe with black sandals on his feet and his hair hanging freely down on his face. He announced to the crowd that had gathered,"Tonight! We have something special for you all. We're going to play a song that none of us can come up a good name for! So, it's your turn! Give some ideas to us backstage after this show is over. We might use it, we might not. But...there's a special prize for the one that we use! He raised his hand the gesture that his shirt had displazyed ealier and listened to the rabid cheers. Derek basked in that glory.
The band then began to play the songs listed, from first and oldest to newest and last.
