Nation Name: Ta Jamhuri'ya Ashaki'yan (Meaning: The Republic of the Golden City)

    Nation Flag:

    Location on Map: 6

Country Name: Ta Zehit Couro (Meaning: The Dark Expanse)

Capital City: Ashaki, the Golden City, capital of Ta Jamhuri, is seperated from the rest of the continent and its peoples by the impossibly thick, confounding growth of Ta Zehit Couro. It sits on the sea, and in a sharp contrast to the territory it lords over, Ashaki is bustling with activity. Its uniquely advantageous position makes it an ideal stop-over for maritime travelers and traders, being the only port worth mentioning, and safe stopping at, in Ta Zehit Couro. It's air smells of exotic foods and spices, it's docks host ships of every make and size and origin, and her most humble drinking establishments can rival the manors of foreign lords in their opulence.

The city is the single largest concentration of wealth, population, and, supposedly, culture in all of Ta Zehit Couro. It is here that the Mfalme'kan, the Princes of the People, rule from, and are elected from. Indeed, the people of the city are quick to remind you that there's no place quite like it in the world, and they are also quick to forget that there's a whole nation, under their rule, outside the thick walls of that city. There are some who have never stepped outside the walls of that huge, luxurious city, and have lived their whole lives in the shade of the city's palm trees.

The city is host to nearly all of Ta Jahmhuri's military might, other than patrol forces, intended to keep Ta Mgongo Couro'yan (The Spine of the Expanse), a grand highway stretching across the length of the jungle, safe for travelers. Its walls are thick and intended to withstand the mightiest siege weaponry known to man, even despite the sheer unlikelihood of a land army crossing the entire Zehit to besiege the city. Still, it's waters are guarded by an impressive fleet of sleek warships, in addition to such defensive measures as chains strung across the waters and Kigiriki launchers.

Race Name: Ta Kan (The People)

Race Physical Description/Appearance: Ta Kan are of a more lithe build than their northern and western neighbors. They aren't physically weak by any means, but they are certainly far more suited pursuits that require grace and finesse than ones of physical might. Ta Kan possess surprisingly robust constitutions, and rarely succumb to sickness or disease. What really sets them apart is their unusually dark skin. Those who live in the jungles and towns outside of Ashaki typically have swarthy, olive-hued skin, while those from within the city are more likely to possess far darker skin, in hues almost reaching the darkness of obsidian. Their hair, when not styled, as it so frequently is, in more and more outrageous ways from season to season, is either wavy, or peculiarly wiry. Their eyes are most often brown, to the point where those born with other colors are seen as something of a 'good omen' or as being fortunate.

Psyche: Ta Kan are a good-natured, jovial people with a panache for merriment and sharp wit. They're a silver-tongued people as well, as is most apparent in their shrewd merchants and diplomats, who have a surprising capacity for wheedling and dealing that earns them both fame and notoriety. Their hospitality is well known across the whole of Austrafar. Ta Kan have a peculiar fixation on the owing of debts, especially favors, and this mentality extends into politics just as it does in daily life.

    Racial Disadvantage:
Self-Centered: For all their good-naturedness and diplomatic ability, Ta Kan are still are distinctly selfish people. They are fickle allies, halfhearted enemies, and rather unreliable friends sometimes. They are vain, as well, and personal appearance means everything to them. Even beggars try to keep themselves clean and well-dressed.

Slight: Ta Kan are simply smaller in stature than the rest of the peoples of Austrafar. They are sinuous and lithe of frame, and while they aren't push-overs or wimps, they can't do the same heavy-lifting as their neighbors. They also haven't won very many arm-wrestling tournaments.

    Racial Advantage:
Graceful: Whether it be on the battlefield, in the workshop, or on the ballroom floor, Ta Kan are some of the most agile, dextrous people in Austrafar. Their size, and simple inborn talent, are something of a blessing. Furthermore, their hand-eye coordination is simply amazing. They have won a few archery competitions. Who needs arm-wrestling?

Master Mariners: The sailors of Ta Kan can weather any storm and navigate even the most treacherous shorelines, or so they will tell you. Still, their boasts are not far from the mark. Ta Kan have an affinity for sea-going vessels and maritime practices of all kinds. They ply all the seas of Austrafar with unmatched skill.

Government: Ta Jamhuri'ya Ashaki'yan is, as its translated name suggests, a republican state. Its people directly elect their rulers, though the practice by which prospective candidates may run for one of the Kumibili Viti, or, Thirteen Seats, quite out of their hands. Those in office, prior to stepping down for the beginning of election season, every six years, must, by majority vote, elect opponents for each other to run against. This has led to some extremely bizarre situations. For example, a stray dog had once taken office, despite his election as a candidate having been something of a joke by the Kumibili. The rules haven't gotten any more restrictive either, so bizarre upsets still happen. Typically, though, the members of the Kumibili are elected from some of the most wealthy merchants in Ashaki. Candidates typically spend lavishly, hosting festivities and games that sponsor their run for one of the seats. The transfer of power is almost always peaceful, as the military has a blank check in ensuring a smooth transfer of government, and the candidates are usually good sports anyways.

Religion: Ta Kan are, by and large, a nonreligious people. There are those who have taken up foreign faiths, but religion is often viewed as idle superstition.

    Population:
~143,000. Ta Jamhuri'ya Ashaki'yan's population is heavily concentrated in Ashaki, which is probably one of the single largest cities in all of Austrafar.

Short History: Ta Kan are not native to the land of Austrafar, this much is certain if the history texts are to be believed, but where it is they came from is long forgotten. Most believe that Ashaki had its beginnings as an outpost or trading post for a foreign empire. The peril of the jungles lend credence to this theory. Many, especially the Ta Kan, doubt that a people as 'civilized' as them simply could not come from that dark jungle. Ashaki, actually, has existed for as long as recorded history has, and perhaps even longer, though the way its been run and its prosperity have fluctuated throughout the ages. It always served as something of a hub for continental trade, especially since the icy northern waters are so hostile to seafaring traffic.

The concept of the republic is old, and its origins are murky and ill-remembered, but it was first put into practice in Ta Zehit Couro almost two hundred years ago. The people, with the aid and patronage of wealthy merchant lords, overthrew the corsair lords who once ruled Ashaki and the jungles with an iron fist. They made constant war on the whole of Austrafar from the relative safety of the city and their numerous jungle hideaways. They treated Ta Kan poorly, and almost as slaves, being greedy, warlike overlords who hoarded the spoils of their wars to themselves. The merchants, Kans who had fled from he jungles and made lives for themselves elsewhere, returned with mercenaries, weapons, and coin to, in a way, liberate their people and also make a tremendous power-grab for themselves.

Since then, Ta Jamhuri'ya Ashaki'yan has been a strictly neutral force, more interested in the prosperity trade and diplomacy has allowed them. The corsairs have retreated deep into the jungles with their most faithful allies, and to this day their descendants still wage war on the other inhabitants of Ta Zehit Couro as well as the people of Ashaki. Others have now taken up the corsair lifestyle as well, looting and plundering on the seas for profit, but making a special exception for ships of Ta Kan. Interestingly enough, Ta Jamhuri has allowed them to exist and even shelters them within their walls from time to time.

    VIPS:

    Military:
Fifty years ago, Ta Jamhuri abandoned the concept of employing mercenaries to defend its interests. They were seen as too fickle and too undisciplined to keep Ashaki and its riches safe from foreign predations. Instead, Ta Jamhuri formed its own standing military. It's a relatively small force, numbering only around ten thousand warriors, with perhaps five thousand more on the seas. This is counting the sellswords, privateers, and corsairs still employed to supplement the professional forces. The Jeshi, as it is known, is well trained and fantastically well outfitted. A good portion of the Ashaki's income is put towards keeping the city safe, and a good portion of that 'safety budget' goes towards keeping the military an optimal, modern fighting force.

The Jeshi is organized into numerous Mkukis, which are fighting contingents numbering around forty men usually. These groups are tightly knit, and their small size allows them exceptional synergy and makes them more capable of responding quickly to situations across the city and in the jungles, where most of their duties take them. They are led by kamandas, who are in turn led by kamanda'yan kamandas.

The Bahari, or navy, operates differently, with much less cohesion. Each kapteni, and his ship, are free to do as they wish during times of peace. Most take up trading and transport, while some pursue the state-appointed bounties on pirates. Some even resort to piracy themselves. The whole of the Bahari is run by the kapteni'yan kaptenis.

Also, if you would like anything added to your nation on the map, just let me know.

I'm in the process of adding several small internal borders to mine as my nation is imperialist and has several small regions or states within in.

My Sheet will probably be one of the last to be posted.

Although I like nation RPs in general, I'm feeling a pretty positive vibe for this one in particular.

    Nation Name:

    Kingdom of Oryen

    Nation Flag:

    Location on Map: (Number Please)

    3

    Country Name:

    Anglyn

Capital City: (Picture if possible and written description)

    City During Summer

    During Winter

    A Standard Street

The city of Arethayr is one of the newest and largest cities within Oryen and quickly became the Capital City due to it's large walls , central location and bustling marketplaces. The city is very organised with all buildings being mostly the same style and grand palace overlooking it all. The people of Oryen are civilized and the Nobility is very prominent within the Nation , clearly showed in the city of Arethayr which was built with them at the front of their minds.

    Race Name:

    Human , Oryenian

Race Physical description/Appearance: (Picture and written description would be nice)

The race is what one might expect a human to look like. An average size of being around 5'9 and their builds vary. The Humans have perhaps the most varied appearance , with each one being almost completely individual with hair colour , eye colour and general structure. There are no Humans that really stand out from the rest , aside from those with abnormalities such as increased height or perhaps born with a missing limb , albeit those people are rather rare. Each Human is completely unique and thus , it is hard to generalize them albeit they all have the same structure and general features , such as hands , feet , eyes and nose.

    Male

    Female

Psyche: (The average mind set of your race. Is aggression common? Or perhaps they all like to think deeply on the meaning of life? Either way, describe it here.)

The Nobility of Oryen are especially pompous and oft look down upon other races and those of lower class. The Nobility of Oryen firmly believe in the pleasures and luxuries of life and will often wear only the best clothing , live in sublime housing and be sure to show off their power and possessions for life to the Nobility of Oryen is essentially , ensuring that they have as much power as possible and that they will not loose that power.
This can often lead to aggression or tensions with other races whom are different from them and have a different way of life as they are resolute in their opinion that their way of life is the best way and that all should live in such manner. However , it does lead to strong alliances with those whom are similar towards them as whilst the people of Oryn value power , gaining allies is a key way to gain and keep that power meaning it would be illogical to go against an ally or they would most likely never gain an ally again , hampering their efforts of gaining and maintaining power for themselves and their family.

The standard citizen has a different viewpoint on things however , making a divide between thoughts and opinions within the Kingdom. The lower class are those whom will fight for the King and the Kingdoms beliefs and views for they are simply taken around like sheep , believing all they are told by the Nobility and Monarchs. These people simply wish to see their kingdom continue to prosper and do not have any complicated schemes or plots going on throughout their life.
A citizen whom is not Nobility will most likely spend their lives doing the menial tasks or dangerous ones , such as fighting ( Usually being cut-down ) and farming in between times of war.

    Racial Disadvantage:

Generally , the Oryenian are an acquisitive and ambitious people. They seek for power and opulence above all else and will often fall into traps promising them wealth or power in return for completing an objective for whomever it is bribing them.
Adding to that , the Oryenian have no particular strength. They are not beasts of men and whilst some are strong , most are of an average build and can wear standard armour whilst weilding a weapon and shield. They are most certainly not the strongest race around.
They also simply use their numbers to charge hundreds or thousands of men into battle and sustaining many casualties.

    Racial Advantage:

Their resilience and hope. The Oryenians are not people to give up and are considered relentless in their efforts to achieve their goals.
Their numbers tend to give them an advantage , albeit they do not always use these numbers effectively.

    Government: (Your nations government form)

    Absolute Monarchy.

The nation is headed by a King and Queen and ultimately , the King has the final say in everything. There is however a Council whom often decide upon the trivial matters and advise the King on all of his decisions , albeit he does not always listen to their advice.

    Religion:

    Oregaurdian

    The people of Oryen believe one God oversees everything and that he has a plan for everything and everyone. The God does not have a direct name , but he is commonly known as ;

    The Creator
    The Overseer
    The Lord of Skies

The Religion is not particularly strict and not all of the Gods teachings are followed however there are those whom follow it to the letter. Generally , people pick and choose parts of the Religion but all followers of the Relgion must pray to the God at least once a day , in order to ensure the God always receives the thanks he is due and does not abandon them.
All other religions within Oryen are outlawed and any whom follow them will be punished by death.

    Population: (Population of your nation?)

    800,000

    Short History:

Oryen was founded originally by a small caravan of Merchants hundreds of years ago whom simply created a small town in order to escape the stresses of the other Nations and ultimately govern themselves. More and more Merchants came to the town that could now be considered a City and was continuing to grow. Due to the majority of citizens being Merchants , Oryen was in no short supply of opulence and supplies.
After around 10 Years of Development , Growth and Prosperity the other Nations began to recognise the City and offer to trade with them , due to it's wealth. A collection of Merchants oversaw the city and all had to agree upon a decision and whilst they would usually fall out over decisions , one thing they could agree on was the creation of a Nation named Oryen , after the Merchant whom first settled.
Borders began to be set out with a small militia being trained. They were nowhere near as strong as the other Nations as of yet but quickly gained more and more citizens as many emigrated from other Nations and began to reproduce within Oryen. The collective group of Merchants began to govern a certain area of Oryen after the borders were set out with Haemysh Godwin controlling the centre region. Haemysh was perhaps the most ambitious Merchant and was most certainly not happy with the way the new-found Nation was being run.
Many of the details have been lost through the ages , but it is known that Haemysh was the wealthiest Merchant and soon began to form his own , personal army against the wishes of the other Governing Merchants. These wishes soon became demands as they realised just how powerful he had become , albeit it was all too late. Haemysch is said to have conquered Oryen within but a week , with the defending Militia being destroyed.
It was at this point Oryen began to develop into what it now is , an Absolute Monarchy. Haemysh became recognized as the King and set about construction of various towns and cities surrounding the Capital of Bryst ( Arethayr is located where Bryst once stood ) and throughout the nation as a whole. Since then, The Godwin family has remained in power and currently King Aemond Godwin rules over Oryen.
The Nation now has a strong economy due to it's vast amount of Merchants whom create some of the best industry within Oryen.

VIPS: (Very Important Peoples; important characters, often the major players in the government, business, media, military etc of your nation. People such as emperors, Kings, Generals, the rulers family and such go here)

King Aemond Godwin , Protector of Oryen and Rightful King.

Military: (An overview of military units and military numbers)

The Military is manged by both Grand Marshal Edwin and Admiral Gregor , whom are effective at managing such a large army. The Army is not regarded as the most powerful army in the land , albeit it is reasonably organized for an army of it's size. Each member of the Noble House of the realm has an army which the Grand Marshal can call upon in times of war. The same goes for the Navy , except they are called upon by Admiral Gregor. The King has his own Army however and as such , he can do what he pleases with it but will oft leave the Grand Marshal to manage it and simply follow the Grand Marshals Advice regarding it.
It is hard to keep a track of the size of the Military for each Noble House could well recruit more any day , however suggestions have been made it is around 250,000 men ( Women are not allowed to fight ). One quarter of the Kingdom. The Army however , whilst having very large numbers is not the best trained and not the most experienced nor the best equiped and as such , the army will often sustain heavy casualties but sometimes the advantage in numbers does allow them to win.
The Navy is slightly different however , for the ships are not assigned to Noble Houses and are all under the collective command of the Admiral , each ship being managed by a Captain. The Merchant Navy is completely different from the Royal Navy and they are not to be confused , for the Merchants Navy never partakes in war and is not managed by the Admiral.

    Pikeman - 100,000

The Infantry is under the command of the Grand Marshal during times of War , and a Lord or Baron during times of peace , depending on where they were stationed and what Noble House they swore fealty towards. The main type of infantryman is the Pikeman whom recieve basic training. The Pikeman wields a standard pike or spear with basic steel armour.

    Knight - 100,000

    Then there is the Knight. They are the veteran soldiers of the Army whom have recieved the best training. Each Knight has his own banner and can customize his armour and his Horse's armour to his hearts content. They each wield their own choice of weapon. Some notable versions of these Knights and their looks are ;

    Archer - 50,000

Finally , there is the Archer. The Archer recieves basic training and is equipped with leather armour and a longbow. Their only goal is to kill the enemy , before the enemy reaches them.

    Spoiler

    Navy - 50 Ships

The Navy is led by Admiral Gregor and is one of the best Navy's within Austrafar , albeit not the best. The Navy of Oryen is made up of many large ships that can pack immense firepower and take considerable damage , they are considerably slow and hard to maneuver however. The Admiralty consists of 40 First-Rate Ships , however it takes a year or two in order to construct a new ship , so the Kingdom must be careful when deploying the Navy. [ Ignore the Canons , this is just to show the general style of the ships. ]
