"...Avattos stretched out his wings, covering the kingdoms of man, and Maneka fell into darkness..."
In the last age, a vast kingdom ruled much of the known world. It's name was Maneka, and no other kingdoms of that era rivaled its glory. Filled with multitudes of people, riches beyond imagination, and awe inspiring magics, the people of that land lacked want. They erected displays of their bounty, chief among them being glass spires that could pierce the heavens. The Manekai were proud of their works, and dreamed to stretch their power further.
Man aspired to reshape the beasts of the earth to their liking, unlock the mysteries of the cosmos, and even tame the forces of nature. But, from their divine abodes, the true lords of the cosmos watched as their children grew in strength and number. Despite all the wondrous gifts they gave to man, the gods were regularly spurned and mocked. To teach them humility, the masters of creation bestowed three curses upon mankind, each worse than the last.
The first was the curse of darkness. The magics of men failed, and their brilliant crystal cities were cast into endless night. The second was the curse of division. The minds of men became flesh, as countless people were transformed into different races. The last was the curse of fear. The nightmares of men entered the world, and they spared none in their senseless slaughter. In those days, the waters ran red, and the cries of men filled the heavens.
So terrible was the suffering of Maneka, the gods almost lifted the three curses. But, doing so would have allowed men to go astray once more, and so they made a compromise. The creators revealed themselves to their children, gifting them with new magics, all on the condition that they would not fall back into their old ways. This was the beginning of the new age, an age of swords and sorceries, heroes and monsters, and epic quests and legends.
Much time has passed since the revelation, and much has changed in the land of Maneka. In the valley of Velan, a new kingdom has risen up to replace the old empire, one that combines the efforts of blade, guile, and magic to protect its people. But, rumors of war with the larger, southern nation of Thern sweep across the land. The lords have begun to conscript and train the able-bodied, exposing much of the country to bandits, monsters, and worse.
Welcome to the OOC for Rising Tempests, a Dungeons and Dragons roleplay set in a land of action and adventure! It's encouraged that you know enough to play D&D 3.5 Edition, but I'll be just as glad to have any people new to the game on board. Remember, that this isn't regular D&D! We'll be using the Epic 6th ruleset, which goes like this:
PCs can't go beyond an effective character level of 6, which is determined by the combined number of a PC's hit dice/class levels and level adjustment. Once you max out to 6th, you'll get a bonus feat for every 1000 XP you earn. Also, you're treated as an epic character after taking 5 bonus feats beyond ECL 6, so you can take some of the feats that normal PCs could only take if they were level 21 or above! But, the game is a bit more dangerous, so have a backup PC!
Other than this, and minor houserules, the rules to the game are the same. You'll be starting as 1st level characters, with a point-buy of 25 points and maximum starting gold. You can use practically anything from the d20SRD, along with content from up to three sourcebooks or Dragon magazine issues of your choice.
House Rules
1. Character creation can only use the SRD, composed of Deities and Demigods, Dungeon Master's Guide, Epic Level Handbook, Expanded Psionics Handbook, Monster Manual 1, Player's Handbook, and Unearthed Arcana; they can also use three non-SRD sourcebooks and/or Dragon magazine issues. After character creation, PCs can use content beyond the SRD and their chosen sourcebooks/issues.
2. Craft, Perform, and Profession don't have sub-skills, like Perform (Comedy) or Profession (Farmer). For example, PCs with ranks in Craft can make weapons as easily as armor, adventuring gear, and so on. The only exception to this is if a prerequisite requires having ranks in multiple sub-skills simultaneously.
3. Rather than risk a low roll, PCs can choose to get an average roll for their next level's HP. The average roll results are: d4 (2-3 HP), d6 (3-4 HP), d8 (4-5 HP), d10 (5-6 HP), d12 (6-7 HP). Even-numbered levels take the lower number, while odd-numbered levels take the higher number.
4. Due to only being able to get up to 6 levels, multiclassing penalties are gone.
5. Expensive items/currency can be used in the place of consumed material components, magical supplies, and similar things.

EDIT: Yeah, no, we're not accepting new characters. This is just here because sessions will be on IRC. Plus, it's Spam.
EDIT2: Due to lack of coordination, I'm making this a four-player party. Apologies to those who have been removed.

“Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us his greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the Imperial Guard, and your doom is upon you. "
Weekends and weekday evenings, though I'd definitely prefer weekends.
Thanks for not keeping me in the loop, I suppose!
Have a fantastic game!
