"Not too many bodies have turned up, but there have been quite many disappearances lately. Too many for one vampire to feed. And as the pact forbids you from lying to me, there is no reason I should not believe your word about that", Å said, and looked the vampire into her eyes. He soon noticed that mistake, and broke the eye contact by flipping the brim of his hat on his eyes. "Sorry 'bout that, I keep forgetting your race has a hypnotic gaze, so I cannot look at your eyes for longer time periods without taking a risk", he explained his behaviour. "But you are telling me there is another vampire who is using you as a cover, huh? Would you have any idea where that one is?" Å lifted his hat off his eyes, and took a closer look at his new ally. As all members of the Nosferatu breed, she was very beautiful, and showed a good taste in clothing. It did not make Å forget that they had been enemies just a second ago though, and could end up back in that situation at any given moment.

"As a creature of the night, you probably would need some sleep now..." Å said and yawned into his hand. "And it seems so do I. Night patrols... as we only have one bed for now, you should take it. I'll need to go out and explain this situation to the townsfolk. They might attempt to lynch me, but I'll have to trust they have some common sense, and are able to listen to reasoning", Å finished, and stood up. "If you need to say something more before I go, do it now", were his words as he was making sure his uniform and equipment were in order before going to the door.

Maye was slightly offended at his comment about hypnosis, she wasn't able to use that yet, her Creator was supposed to teach her but she never did. She stood by the bed, "All I know of my Creator is that she was beautiful with golden hair and a winning smile, her voice was very seductive and when she spoke you felt compelled to do whatever she wanted" she sighed and walked over to the dresser, opening the doors to find a night gown inside. She pulled it out then looked to Å, "oh, if you perhaps find a willing woman for me to feed off of it would be nice, make sure it's a woman" she said then turned to the bed and waited patiently for Å to leave before she would change.

She was very tired but something nagged at her, something that wasn't her hunger. She felt like she were forgetting something very important but she couldn't grasp at what it was. She ran a hand through her hair and closed her eyes, trying to remember but it wouldn't come. She gave up with an exhausted sigh, she should just get some sleep and it would possibly come to her at dusk. At least she wasn't dead, that was a start.

"All you said sounds just like your typical Nosferatu. To be honest, it won't help much, but at least we know that you are not the original source of the disappearances." When the woman pulled a night gown out of the closet, Å lifted his eyebrow and made a comment: "Inns 'round here seem to be well equipped. I have never seen an inn with nightwear to borrow." Having said that, Å walked out of the room, making sure to open the door as little as possible. The hardest part of this all was up. He would have to convince a murderous mob to let the vampire see another dusk. That, by no means, would be easy, but it had to be done in order to catch the actual culprit behind it all. If the villagers just would believe him...

As he walked through the door, the villagers who had participated in the chase and a few more were waiting for him eagerly, wanting to see the murderer burn. Å cleared his throat, and started making his speech: "Dear villagers. The standards of the Shadowslayer Order would usually require the sunbath of the vampire at noon. This cannot be the case this time tho---" Å was interrupted by a massive outrage of disapproval, but he had the patience to let it calm down to a single question: "Then what is she going to get?" "It would seem this matter is complicated, and that there actually are more vampires in the area. She has promised to help me find them, and get them burning. For this to happen, she must live. For now." The villagers seemed to agree with the fact that more vampires in the area could cause trouble, but they were suspicious about the credibility of the information. All Å could tell them was that the order had it's reasons to trust the individual. Then, the worst case scenario set in. Someone got the idea of asking how this vampire would be fed. Another outrage was about to erupt on Å's face, but he managed to calm it down by taking the autoblade off his back in it's locked sheath. "Villagers. You are right, she needs to eat. I would much prefer if we found four volunteers for this job, but they have to be women. You are free to discuss it amongst yourselves, but I will go to sleep now. As should you. You've been awake for a rather long while", Å finished, and headed back towards the room. Placing one soft knock on the door before opening it, he laid himself down just in front of the door inside the room. He was almost certain that the vampire would wake up earlier, but the pact was supposed to protect him. Even on the hard wooden floor, dreams reached his mind, and the shadowslayer Å fell asleep with his hat placed on his ear, the brim covering his face and neck.

Maye undressed and pulled on the night gown, her hands fumbled sleepily and finally she held the elegant black dress at eye level. It was horrible tattered and she frowned unhappily, she liked this dress but it was hardly the most important thing right now. She set the dress over the bottom rail of the bed and slipped under the covers. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but she fell asleep almost instantly, lying perfectly still.

At dusk she awoke on perfect time and lay under the covers of the bed just thinking. She blew a few strands of white hair from her face as she thought. Finally the memory started to pull itself together like a puzzle. She concentrated hard as she did so and finally she knew what the forgotten memory was. A house, not to unlike her own but on the outskirts of the city. She grinned and turned over seeing Å lying against the wall by the door. She took the chance to study him, even if she could see his face she noticed how fit he was, not unnaturally so but an athletic build. She blushed as she realized she was alone in a room with a guy, even if he was the rooms length away. She was nervous now but mentally kicked herself, this was a Shadowslayer, they hate the night children. She decided to rather wait for him to wake himself to tell him her memory then wake him now. She curled up into a ball and drifted in and out of sleep.

Å's sleep was rather restless. Nightmares of the Wendigo hunt came back to him, as they had the habit of doing in the stressful times. That time, Å had barely managed to kill the being with the dagger, which one of the group members had dropped, before the Wendigo managed to lay it's fangs on him. The feeling of hitting the dagger through the beings chest, and ripping out the oh so cold blue heart of the being. Nowadays such an encounter would not be nearly as fatal, but back then Å had simply been Albert Gyver, an ordinary man with ordinary knowledge. In the dreams, the encounter did not stay the same, however. There were times when Å was in his current state, but the Wendigo was way more powerful than it should have been, and then there were dreams like this, in which he was his past self, and the Wendigo won, slowly eating him up alive...

He woke up once the creature of the dreamworld had bitten a large chunk out of his right side, and first thought the pain he felt in his side was simply a leftover from the nightmares. But once it kept on gnawing him, he rose up, and noticed he had somehow fallen asleep on his dagger. Rubbing his side, he muttered: "I'll never sleep on the floor with my equipment on again. Never." He lifted his hat off the floor where it had fallen, and turning to face the room while placing it on his head, he noticed that the woman had moved from the bed on the floor. She seemed to still be in her night gown. Å did not know what to do now. He did not want to get too close to the being as of yet, as she might find it offensive. He could speak, but would the vampire hear him? Well, out of two bad options, it is best to choose the better one, so he spoke up: "Good evening lady. Are you awake?" Speaking did not help his aching side one bit, and he kept stroking it with his fingers while he was waiting for the woman to react.

Maye rolled over and looked sleepily at Å, she sat up and rubbed her eyes making her look younger than she was, "I'm awake" she mumbled. She wsa starved and a low growl escaped her throat and she blushed, "anything about me getting fed happen?" she asked, "remember, only females.":
She then remembered her memory about the house, not to unlike her own but on the outskirts of the city. She lifted her gaze to meet the Shadowslayer's with a hard determination set in her odd coloured eyes. "I remembred something this evening," she began slowly, "I remember a house not to unlike my own with dark coloured walls and large gates. It was on the outskirts of the city" she said with a deep breath. She looked down at her hands which were knoted in the blanket, it was harder to betray her Creator than she had thought. Her mind started to sink but a boiling anger rose up, she would not give in! She was going to get back at her no matter the cost. Her red eye glowed for a moment but it faded when her stomach growled in a rather unladylike manner.

As the question regarding her food left the vampire's lips, Å shrugged. "I know as much as you do about your meal. I asked the villagers to think if there were any females, I made that point clear, that could offer you something to eat. Speaking of food, I might need to get some myself", Å said with his stomach making a little noise. Then the woman told him about the house in the outskirts. "It would seem we are making progress", Å said with a smile. "The villagers will be much more likely to help us out now, and that piece of info will guarantee you your dinner. At least it would if I were them... That sounded odd..." Å quickly pulled his thoughts back together, and continued: "But yes, we need to get out of this room for anything to take place. For that, you will need to change. I understand I need to be somewhere else when that takes place, so I guess I'll see you in the floor below. Don't go wandering off, you most likely will need me near you if you want to live. They would not like seeing you go alone", Å finished it up, and walked out of the door.

The inn was surprisingly silent, but there were three women in the lower floor. They served Å some porridge for the same price he had received it the earlier day, but they did not say a word. This whole situation seemed rather odd to Å, but he guessed they were the ladies that were supposed to 'feed' the vampire, whatever her name was again. All out of sudden, Å started to feel dizzy. What was this... No... this could be a trap of the vampire's creator... He rose up as fast as possible, and barely managed to dash into his room and close the door behind him before collapsing onto the floor. Things were not going his way today...

Maye listened intently to Å as he spoke and when he mentioned a possible dinner she gave a content smile. Å left, leading her to change and she did so, back into her tattered dress. She looked down at it dismay and with a few adjustments it didn't look too bad. She was just about to leave when Å came flying back in, she jumped back in surprise and her fangs immediately came out in defense. She then watched him crumple to the ground at the door in horror, what was going on? She rushed to his side and gently turned him over onto his back, his eyes stared blankly at the ceiling overhead.

She bit her lip, a human habit she could never really shake and her fangs sank into her own skin letting dark red blood, darker than human blood, form at the punctures. she barley noticed as she searched her head for the answer. Finally the answer came in the form of a picture, one she had seen in the vast library that her creator owned in the house from her memory. It was a type of poison that was in vampire fangs that made their bite less painful, but taken in a large dose could cause one to pass out and result in possible death. He had to have taken it in the form of drink or food, she then remembered him saying he was going to find himself food. Her eyes widened, the only way to stop the poison was to suck it out of his blood stream.

She had made a promise to herself never to drink from a guy, but this wasn't technically drinking, was it? She bit her lip again, maybe the pact thing I made will hurt me because I will have to bite him, she thought then pushed the thought aside. She needed him to take down her Creator, her fangs came out and she closed her eyes and bit down on his neck, sucking out the poison from his blood stream.

The numb body of Å was staring at the roof. Å himself would have wanted to beat his head against the wall and curse the living daylights out of... everything, to be precise. But no, he was stuck inside a numb body. The eyes saw the vampire staring at him. As her fangs extended, Å tried his best to protest against the idea, but the body would not do anything he pleased. He felt slight pressure on his neck, as the woman pierced the skin of his neck with her fangs. Å could not do anything about it. He could simply stay put while the woman drank, and wonder if he would stay alive... and how the order would react once he returned to the sanctuary. Bite marks on the neck won't help his standing there, that one thing is for sure. He could simply hope that nothing irreversibly bad would come out of this.

After a while, he started to regain control. First area of his body to work was his mouth: "This... won't do me any good as a... shadowslayer..." he managed to say. Then he noticed his left eye had a hair or two in it. And soon after, his limbs would move again. Only a little, but they moved. That is when he said: "Would you quit drinking from me? I think whatever it was has worn off... and as the pact has not yet broken, I take it you are not trying to harm me." He moved his left hand slowly, and wiped off the white hair from his eye. Wait, white? It must have been some of the woman's then. "A clever trick it was. Somebody seems to know that we are on her trail, which means we must be ever more careful." Å tried to move himself sitting against the wall, but could yet not do it on his own. "Mind helping me a bit here? Or have you drank too much for me to safely rise up? Nevertheless, I'll need something to drink. Gotta replace the lost blood somehow."

Maye sat straight upright when he told her to stop drinking, her face reddened as she realized she had infact taken to much blood but her hunger was now gone and she felt strong again. She nodded and slipped her arm around his back to help him sit up then pulled him to stand and helped him over to the bed, "sorry" she said quickly, "I didn't think" she said again then let go of him quickly when he was safetly on the bad. She felt rather jumpy and she turned to the door, "I'll go get some food and something to drink for you" she practically squeaked.

Truth be told drinking from a healthy person nowadays was a luxury and healthy, fit women were even harder to find. She had enjoyed the taste of Å's blood and it now sang through her own veins as it molded and mixed with her black vampire blood to create the dark red blood she now had. She hurried out the door and down the steps to see the inn empty and no people or sound to be heard. She frowned and called out gingerly, "h-hello?", no answer, she placed a gloved hand on the kitchendoor and gently pushed it open. What met her was not a sight that was to unfamiliar but the shock of seeing it brought a gasp across her lips.

The bodies of all the staff in the inn were neatly laid on the floor in rows, all drained completely of blood.
