What, being knocked out in one strike is not humanitarian? >_>

Bullet to the skull is just as quick as smashing the skull in with a hammer or severing the spinal cord with an inch and a half of a blade into the base of the skull, none of them are painless or fearless, even if they are merciful.
To what end would I hold this soul that is shattered?
With dead heart so cold and spirit so tattered
My mind in shambles and broken body so battered
Where sorrow has filled the void and I've lost all that mattered
To what end would I hold this soul that is shattered?

I prefer the blade one actually, if only because it avoids maiming the face.
If there wasn't any immediate danger, I think my favourite method would be to overdose them on sleeping pills, and then suffocate them while they're asleep just to make sure.

This would be impractical in a zombie situation, even if no immediate danger was present. The point of the mercy kill in this kind of predicament is to have them die still as a human, and only damage to the brain to prevent them from rising again would be acceptable.

Judging from TP's request, I assumed I was supposed to kill him before things really got going. So if he was unaffected, he wouldn't exactly attract zombies, and it's generally uncertain whether already dead people can be turned.
