    Hu-mons: Real World Monsters

    Hu-mons: Real World Monsters

An roleplay for digimon fans will follow a group of characters lost in an alien and hostile world and their struggle to return home.

That's right. Player characters will be digimon lost in a the city of Darwin in the human world. Some digimon may decide to take advantage of the relatively weak creatures of this world, and others may chose to protect them. Those who choose to protect human life may find themselves with a partner.

The digital world is struck by war. Not an unusual occurrence- these creatures are fighting one another all the time. But this more disagreement between two digimon has spread far and wide, entwining thousands of other digimon into its net. It's cited as the war between reptile and beast type digimon, and yet all kinds of digimon have been pulled in. If have scales, you are expected to fight for one side. If you have fur, you are expected to fight for the other. The war has separated friends, and forced other digimon to either take sides or flee to less populated areas. And as it goes on, the pressure of the war starts to tear little holes in the border between the real and the digital worlds.

You are a digimon who has just woken up in the real world, in a city called Darwin. You have no idea how you got there. The city is dangerous in its own way, and gets more chaotic and more digimon involuntarily invade it. Will you try to make this new world your own, or try to quell the chaos here?

I have loved the show Digimon since...pretty much since Adventure first aired in the US. Without going into detail too much, I like that the "mons" talk. They talk, they think about their world and abstract subjects such as existence and souls. They even take an active role in shaping their own world. Why, half the time the big-bad of a season turns out to be a digimon. But most digimon stories are related from the point of view of the humans interacting with the digimon. Which is fine- I love the human characters. But I thought it would be fun to see things from the mons' point of view.

Like in the first Adventure, our characters will be lost, and probably trying to find a way home. Sometime after we've gotten a strong start- probably three rounds in of solid IC posting- I'll introduce a group of human teens and preteens. These characters will have some interactions with your digimon characters. From here, how things happen is up to you. I will provide you with some situations to respond to and you play your part.

If a bond is formed between a human and digimon, a mysterious object called a digivice will appear, serving as a link between the two characters. Shortly after that, the player of the digimon will take control of the bonded human and from then on, start playing in a more traditional manner.

This is a kind of ambitious rp project for me, and I'm probably a little crazy for trying it. But anyway. Since we're going to be dealing with the digital world, let's deal with a little world building, shall we? Every incarnation is radically different from the last, so we won't be using maps, we won't be going by cannon. We'll build the world as we go along. Will it be a planet, with continents, as in Adventure 01 and 02, or will it be a surreal nightmare like in Tamers?

To figure this out, I'll use a few tools. First, user input. I'll take your ooc suggestions into consideration. But I'll also pick though your posts for bits of information. For instance, in the character form, if you state that there's an island were a bunch of agumon host luaus, then that will certainly have a part in the finished world. I'll take a bunch of these and bind them together in a patchwork until we have a completed world to play around in. There are is no wrong information about this new world we're building so don't be afraid to go all out when you write an character sheet.

Like any good rp, this is going to be set up so that anyone can jump in, at any time. But the real fun will be at the beginning. I want to evolve this into a freeform rp, so I have a starter plot, but nothing set in stone. Maybe one of you lovely players will choose a particularly slimy character to cause a lot of grief and complications for the others. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Any interest? Questions?

What would our starting level be ? Do we hatch from eggs or can we just start out at the champion level ?
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

Rookie or champion level digimon. Ultimate's are ok as long as they aren't too massive. They'll have a history so forget eggs for right now- except maybe if an established character finds an egg.
