I wonder if Tancreds focus disruption thing affects Fredrick because he isn't technically magical in nature, he is trapped by a curse to his armor and it grants him magical abilities. hmmmm

Personally, I would say it does. Because he has not physical body outside his animated armour, I am of the opinion that he only exists because of the magic holding him there. If the magic was gone, would he not die?

Yes, most likely he would die. Problem is though, since he killed the ruler of a long forgotten country, that particular magic has most likely been long forgotten, and as such, can't be affected by more recent magic as it was not around when the recent magic was created, otherwise he would have just had it removed when he realized he couldn't commit suicide. But I do not know if the distraction aura would affect him....His nature is still that of human, his body however is magical....so I propose we compromise on that it would affect him but not as badly as with others. Something like an incessant buzzing in his ears.

I think you're weaseling around the point here. The runes don't care how old you are. If you're a newborn baby magical creature or a centuries old BAMF, if you exist due to magic, it's going to fuck with your head. The fact that his origins are that of a mortal wouldn't have much impact on whether or not he gets affected by an aura, when all the aura does is affect magical begins.

and that right there proves my point. Physically, he requires magic, therefore he is magical, therefore he is affected by it. I'd be willing to negotiate the compromise though, unless the DM wants to step in and lay down some laws like she is supposed to...

The medium of which your mind communicates and interacts through is magical, therefore your body and you are magical. I would say it affects you without compromise. Also, I think that magic is magic, and simply because it was performed in ages past, doesn't not make it a different form of energy.

Might depend on how you look at it. You want to go for an ambiguous harry potter world? Sure, you have infinite magic and nothing makes sense. I believe we should stick to something more of an Eragon type world, and in this case magic is not an interchangeable environment. I'll accept the fact that you are less affected by the aura if you can give me a logical reason for it to not affect you.

This is magic we're talking about, but I enjoy logical things.

I'll concede the point on magic is magic now that I know we are going with a Eragon style type of magic instead of a harry potter type( ancient spell ancient counter spell, everyone forgot them, someone re-found the ancient spell, no one can deal with it.)

As for the reason it would affect him less, my logic is this, while his body is magical, his soul and his essence is are still human. I read the runes affect creatures magical in nature as angels, demons (both of their essence is made of magic),elves (Magic is in their blood, so they are taught from an early age how to use it thus their natures are set around magic), etc. His essence being his soul that is trapped in the armor by a curse that via side effect gives him magical abilities his nature being his mind and the way he views thing. Before the curse remember, he was a knight, and never used magic and was only trained to use his arms and armor. That's my logic anyways.
