"Somehow you strayed and lost your way, and now there'll be no time to play, no time for joy, no time for friends - not even time to make amends. You are too naïve if you do believe life is just innocent laughter and fun." ~ Cheshire Cat

what are you going for?
the problem with awesome roleplays is they attract awesome players, and the problem with having awesome players is they usually fuck up in awesome ways, and require awesome explanations to correct their awesome mistakes.

Ok, I am going to take some time to do work up a really great character.

I'm using the Greek Goddess Eris, goddess of discord. The fantasy will allow my character to incite a person to do something. He can't force them to do anything they don't on some level wish to do. It also depends on the way he words the suggestion in his mind to project to his target.

how does discord=mind manipulation?

Sowing the seeds of discord? It's where that saying came from. Eris' main myth is the fact that she manipulated people namely Athena, Aphrodite and Hera (I think) into fighting by inscribing upon a golden apple "to the fairest" this then led to the war of Troy xD
I think that equals mind manipulation.

not really no, that's far too much of a stretch.
discord is discord, that's all. Also, remember, it must be based on a myth, a story of some sort. It's not enough that "Hey, medusa was a gorgon and she turned peoepl to stone, i'm gonna base my character on her and have him turn peoepl to stone too' . It must be more like "hey, in this story featuring medusa, a greek hero turned her ability back on herself by shining a mirror shield in her face. My character will be based on that, his esper will be medusa, and his ability will be to paralyze anyone who sees their own reflection." see what i mean?
So if you're basing your character off how Eris, goddess of discord, made athena, aphrodite and hera war over each other by using an apple, then the kind of character you would derive from that would be a character with either eris or a golden apple as his esper, and a fantasy that let him make food that, if someone ingested it, they would immediately start to hate/distrust their allies. That is how you base a character off the goddess of discord.

But it wasn't the ingestion of the apple that caused the fight. It was the inscription upon the apple that caused the three goddesses to war over the fact that they all thought they were the fairest. They all believed they themselves were the fairest and the fact that Eris tossed the apple into the middle caused them to fight because on a bare basics level they wanted to prove they were the fairest.
I understand where you are coming from but I also wished to show you my point of view.

then in that case make the power word-based, i don't care how you go about it exactly. the point is it has to be relatable to an element in the story in some way
