The signal said demons from hell were on mars and they allied them self with evil aliens known as the Elite. So the Covenant sends in some of their best space marines such as Doomguy, John-117, Samus Aran and many more.
Note you can be anyone space marine character from any sci-fi based game like Halo, Warhammer, Mass Effect, Metroid, Star Wars etc.
