SciFi Horror - and other things

    Horror Sci Fi Space Idea
Aliens, Event Horizon, Solaris, Dead Space...
    you get the idea

This doesn't have to be very complicated and I prefer it to be pretty straight forward, and NOT hampered by techno babble. Essentially a team of marines get sent to investigate something, somewhere, which has gone terribly wrong. Cue masses of disgusting and frightening alien zombie things. Obviously marine are wholly unprepared and are decimated at start of story. Rest of story involves a small group or pair of people escaping. Lots of ways to frame this. Lots of places for you to make a character.

Basic stuff about me and more ideas...

    RP Style
I'm so not into anime and I find players who are tend to make characters, which are exaggerated and depthless. Also, if you enjoy anything related to school, and highschool, and teenagers or furries, then I'm not really the player for you.

By advanced, I hope you can at least write on the crappy-embossed-titled-novel level. As in, please be comfortable with narrating and understand how to develop a character through interaction and sensible writing. I am fine with mature content and don't see any reason to be limited so long as the story prescribes it. Lastly, I don't pretend to be an eloquent writer, this is all just fun for me.

Lastly and most importantly, I come from IRC rping, which is real time chat rping. I can't really do the long wait times involved with forum rping, so what I prefer to do is wait till both people are online and then get through several posts in one sitting. This is easily achieved with chat IMs, where we can efficiently scope out when both people are online and agree to rp. I then post on Forum/PM but continue to use IM for ooc chat.

    Ideas

    • Historical - westerns, colonial or pioneer, civil war
    • Semi-modern - film noir, 60-80s rurallandia
    • Medieval - everything so long as its low magic
    • Supernatural - I'm really not into vampires, but I can do werewolves... however modern settings are boring
    • Scifi - still keen on a prometheus/aliens sort of horror, or space colonists, space explorers
    • Apoc - ancient apocalypse and set in a jungle world

Please PM me if you are interested Thanks!

Wow, I just had a very lengthy and convoluted argument with someone about what RPing is about. I think the take home message from that fiasco was that there are two ways that people view rping:

    1. Rping is a means of creating an alternative world into which you (the player/writer) can enter and enjoy. This might imply avatars and other means of more personal engagement with a player's characters.

    2. Rping is simply collaborative story writing wherein Writers are not really Players (in a game sense) and the writers have little attachment to their characters other than the fact that the characters are the personal contribution of the writer to the story. Of course a story can be just as engaging and enjoyable, but for different reasons.

I can totally see how these two perspectives would be at odds with another since a story requires a synthesis of both characters and believable narrative. As such a story would be challenged or undone by inconsistencies.

So! Please enjoy #2 and not so much #1. I am starting to find that people from the first camp tend to be a little unhinged.

Oh yeah and RP is just for Fun!
