"Darkside."
"Your first priority is to find Megera and inform her of what we discovered last night. If you don't, the city will go up in flames when the moon rises in two days' time. And the Knights won't be there when it happens."
"And be sure not to provoke Megera's guard. I've fought him before and he's ruthlessly persistent in killing everyone he lays his eyes on-" the deep voice on the other line halted for a second, "-but you will not attack him, or anyone else. Be careful, Serra. Be very, very careful."
Fin listened to the faint 'beep' of the cellular phone with a feeling of satisfaction after it shut off . She had arrived in the city three nights ago after dishing out a reason for her early departure to the elder council, and had been in hiding ever since. She was glad that the cue she was waiting for was finally sent, as she could not take another day of trying to survive without being spotted by the few Knights who were in the city or ending up as dinner to the Vampires during the nights. She pulled out a half eaten protein bar and bit off a huge portion of whatever remained, wincing a little as she gulped down the vapid-tasting food down her throat. She slipped the rest of it back into her leather duffel bag and extracted a few silver-coated bullets and with a slight smile, examined the hardly legible 'Cherubim 1191' that was engraved onto them. A few seconds later, the loaded barrel on the shotgun closed with a slight click - a sound that meant that the time had come for her to find Medera.
