With the fall brisk air but clear weather it was perfect to view the forest; perhaps even pick the fresh bits of berries that grew out in the wilds. Being out in these woods was nothing new; you grew up in this town, and walked every trail a dozen times.. but yet... How did you become so lost?.... A flicker of light would catch your eyes for a moment as you wander off the trail, but without even realizing it you wander too far to even find the trail. With minutes quickly turning into hours; the sun would hung low and the mellow autumn day slowly turning into a freezing cold night. For lack of a better word; you where simply lost.
Lost; but yet not forgotten; finally realizing that you where beyond lost there was nothing better to do then simply wait for help and hope a wild bear or wolf didn't find you first; but this too was nothing new. You could always run from bears and fight off a wolf, sure... but what you where not counting on was not being alone in the woods...
A few hours past midnight would the echo of relief come as the sounds of your name could be herd echoing in the woods. You where found! or rather at lest someone was looking for you... The joys of discovery soon where stamped as the voices of your friends and family calling out you name where snuffled by blood curtailing screams and the unloading of a shotgun. Madness was unfolding as the screams continued around you. It was clear something wasn't right and perhaps it was better to run rather then wait to discover why there was suddenly a shooting. Whether running to or from the sounds; ether way the source of the shotgun was easy enough to locate..
An opening in the treeline showed an empty field. You knew this place well and knew from here you could fin your way home; but in the same regard you where not alone... Looking out in the field a familiar shape could be seen in the low light... It was your father! But also in hand he held a shotgun and was breathing rather heavily... Stepping closer would cause him but also yourself to freeze as your shoe stepped in a sudden squishy puddle. Looking down would unveil just what had been shot at... People from the town... friends, family; various others who came out looking for you in the woods... Countless scattered in the vast open field... All stoned dead from shots from the shotgun your father now carried...
Screaming or even trying to speak to your father would cause him to suddenly shout and cock the rifle. "Damn you! All of you! I won't let you take em you hear?!" He yelled swaying the shotgun round; he didn't even seem to notice you as he continued to shout. "Ya took my wife! You took my job! ya ant taking my kid!" He shouted again screeching mostly horsey on his voice. Was he talking about you? But you where right there! Though making the mistake of trying to correct him would only conclude your worse already growing fears... Your father shot all these people...
Shooting once at the sky would seem like only a warning shot, but once the aim of the gun changed the level of madness only grew. A feeling like no other; having the one you loved, trusted, before you staring you down like an animal; as if you where not even their own flesh and blood. The aim fully directed to you the feeling and helplessness and fear was all too overbearing, more so when you father once again started to shout and ramble. "It was you... You took em! I'll fucking kill you! I'll kill you all! Yes, all of you! AHAHWAHAHAHA!" The emptiness of the clearing only echoed with the sounds of your twisted fathers laughter.
To late to run, or trying to would all lead to one and the same. The click of the gun, the small rumble as the spray of bullets started to spread out from the gun. Like slow motion in action, but yet suddenly covered in darkness before feeling a soft splatter across your face. Where you dead?... There was no pain, only the numb feeling left over by terror that changed and yet sucked everything from your body... It was quiet... too quiet, and yet soon the faint color of the night returned; someone standing before you. Patting your body you discover you didn't take a single hit; but yet... The emotional roller coaster was only about to begin...
Following your eyes upward it look a few moments to realize that not only the blood that splattered on you wasn't your own; but the figure that took the full shot of the blast was anything but human... Looking up farther and father it was clear the figure stood several feet over you, it's back covered in strange black heavy tendrils. What was this?... You didn't even get the chance to ask until a struggle soon began; unable to reload your father burst out at what blocked the path of the seemingly unavoidable blast and a struggle began. It was still hard to see in the dim lighting, but the mometn the figure turned just enough it was clear raked at the top of it's body lied a solid white faceless head....
The strange creature seemed to have no struggle holding back your father but more sounds of people calling out from the woods only meant trouble. Was this what caused all this? Where you to die this night too?... Your feet where almost frozen to the ground as your mind where flooded with these questions; but yet a single answer seemed to clear the clutter in your mind... {Run, Run fast; and far away.} A voice within your mind rang like none other you herd before; snapping your attention you could see the slender dark faceless creature stare blankly at you before looking back out to the woods. Where you going insane too?.... The creature looked back to you again before the voice echoed again louder and to the point. {
RUN}
Without much choice you did what you needed to; you ran... You knew what area you where in so it would be easy to find the path to lead you to at lest the town, if not home. But could you would you? what was going on? should you find the others? What was that thing?!... The nightmare seemed to finally be coming to close... but yet it was only the beginning.... The very beginning...
