Following that logic I could just ask for a writing sample with them writing it from the perspective of the character they intend to play. Same effect, less CS to have to pour over.

On the actual topic, I love making CS's, primarily the history. I typically parallel or compare the history with some other event in history or well known tale, and have the character allude to it with their own personality. I'm really feeling the Judeo Christian vibe right now, and my characters are reflecting it.

Usually I don't like filling out the histories of my character for a CS, but in the case of Dextra I have had her character design rolling around in my head for literally a year and haven't been able to use it successfully until now so I was more than happy to write up her history. Plus the personality part was super easy <3 I haaaate having to try to describe my character's personalities in depth

If you're a master swordsmen, lemme know that, instead of magically pulling it out IC and going, "Well, you never asked."

Plus equipment, strengths/weaknesses, magic, and stuff.

All depends on the CS, so I know what type of character I'm going into the RP with; so I can structure it around what I have, instead of trying to push it forward in a rigid path.

..Plus, I quite like reading CS' anyway.

Because plenty of times I have seen an interesting concept just not work. If I throw them into a similar situation that they may see in the RP then I know their character/writing will likely work for the RP.

I actually struggle the most on personality, because to me a personality doesn't truly exist, it's all subjective to a situation, and who there with and where they are and all sorts, and what mood their in, I mean, I can't exactly put human as the only word to describe personality, so I tend to just bullshit the whole damn thing.
