Note: You will end up losing three or four hours doing this. I did it recently and ended up reading three chapters of the Hobbit in one sitting before it was even half way through.

It only took me 40 minutes.

Though, that could be because I skipped the rest of the scan when it was 96% through, A) because I thought it had frozen up and B) because it had already found the infected file and I moved it to my virus chest.

That said-

Avast gave me three virus alerts since my computer rebooted. Not only do I recognize the virus from before, but there's apparently two of them now, as well.

Honestly don't know what to say. I have a habit of thinking that Avast is shite anyways, so I figured out how to curb stomp virii manually including hunting their keys in the registry.

If nothing else works? Nuke & Pave.

Eh. I turned off virus alerts anyway (the actual act of the little window popping up, anyway). It says it's blocking them and I haven't seen any real difference in performance, so I guess the viruses aren't doing any major harm.

I'm just glad I got those pop-ups to stop.
