    So they plan to do that later, more or less.

    Suppressor - As I said, it's just a storm rifle that fires orange bullets. It's a good weapon, but it's incredibly boring. I loved the silenced SMG in ODST, and anything that's remotely like it will be welcomed.

    Boltshot - Exactly. I adored the mauler, and while I knew it wouldn't be in the game because there aren't any brutes I still felt disappointed. When I heard the Boltshot could be fired like a shotgun I got my hopes up, but they quickly dropped. It's the main reason why I want the Boltshot to be its successor.

    Scattershot and Light Rifle: Agreed, but not the Lightrifle. ;_;
    Makes sense I suppose, do they have any resources though that could educate them on their past or did the prophets eliminate it?

    I wish they kept the silenced SMG, the spiker and mauler... even if just for multiplayer.

    It's pretty much an awkward stumbling period for them, they rely more on oral traditions of their individual keeps than written language, so it's pretty much guess work and trying to figure out what the grunts and brutes and what not were doing for them. There's still a few alien races on Shanghelios doing labour for them, but most of them went home now that they're free. They're also a very proud people, learning lessons from humanity would be incredibly embarrassing because that's like going to your enemy and asking for a hand out. An enemy who was totally inferior to you.

    That much is true...

    Though the humans beat the entire covenant. They are not 'inferior' to the Shanghelli alone :P

    I don't agree with the Spiker all too much, but the S-SMG and the Mauler. I cannot agree with you more. The Spiker didn't fill much of a role beyond taking the place of the plasma rifle, and while it was perfectly fine without the Brutes it's not really necessary. I'd love to see a new version of the Mauler, specifically in place of the Boltshot, because it's too perfect an opportunity to miss. The S-SMG was also a perfect primary weapon, and the Suppressor was also a great chance to pass on the torch. Same with the Binary rifle, which could have been like the Focus rifle.

    Perfect chances to make some imaginative and fun Forerunner weaponry, but 343 failed on that note.

    The Sangheili *need* humanity to survive. Either that or reform the Covenant, which forms most of the conflict on Sanghelios. After all, the planet's broken into one side that wants to side with the humans and the other with the remnants of the Covenant. It's two solutions, both made almost solely on supporting the planet rather than finding allies. They'll get to grips with everything after a while, I'm sure.

    The Sangheili were actually an oddball when it came to humanity. During their early years against the UNSC they saw them as nothing more than another thing for the Covenant to put down, but as the war went on they actually formed a grudging respect for the humans. They were smart and resourceful tacticians, and despite the physical and technological advantages of the Covenant races the humans had lasted quite a while. Many wondered why the Prophets refused to allow humanity into the Covenant, because they would likely be a very valuable ally, which eventually lead to them being willing to work with the UNSC when the Prophets betrayed them. Otherwise the Elites would likely have just wandered off and started fighting both the Covvies and the humans.

    As has been said, some Elites are perfectly willing to work with humanity, but others aren't. I'd hesitate to say that most aren't, but I'm not sure.

    The ones who grew to respect humanity were ones who agreed with the Arbiter's views and ambitions, but a VERY large chunk of the Elities (probably majority of them) don't trust humanity, thinking that humans are liars, deceivers, and cowards who rely on dishonourable tactics and tricks and as a result, can't be trusted. The alliance in Halo 3 was mainly a case of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend', a temporary alliance. Don't forget, it was a long and bitter war where the survivors on both sides aren't going to suddenly discard their grudges because of a truce. But as you mentioned, I had read that stuff about many Elites respecting humanity and questioning trying to exterminate them. Like humans, there's all sorts.

    The reason I say most aren't comfortable with humanity was that the Arbiter had to ask Admiral Hood and Infinity for assistance defending his keep because of events that led to a huge amount of Shanghelios to join up to overthrow the Arbiter for various reasons. One of them being the Arbiter permitted a small team of ODSTs and a Spartan to extract one of ONI's agents who was there as a guest of the Arbiter in the events of 'Glasslands' and 'The Thursday War'.
