The world has erupted in darkness. Demons are streaming through portals, destroying city, village and farm alike. No one knows why this all started or how. All that is known is that demons are lose, the world is in chaos, and the government seems, to say the least, slow to act. The demons are on the rise and the fate of the world could rest in your hands. So what will it be, join the cause and fight the demons, or give up hope and help the demons take over the world? The choice is yours.
The plot is simple. Demons have been streaming out of Hell all willy nilly with no one to answer to. Times have now changed. Full sects and groups of demon slayers have emerged, killing demons left and right. Small groups of demon capturers have shown up, using the crises to gain power or money. There are even those who have joined the demons' side as sympathizers. But the thing that has changed the most, is that demons now seem to be following orders. News has erupted that the first major demonic general has shown his face.
Simply put. On one side, slayers, capturers, and some clergy are trying to rid the world of demonic influence, and on the other, sympathizers, demons, and some clergy are trying to promote demonic influences and power.
Things to know
The battles will be somewhat like Pokemon battles. You can either beat on a demon until, as a capturer, you can catch it, or as a slayer, you can kill it permanently.
Catchers must have a special artifact that is blessed (or cursed) in a way that allows it to hold demons captive.
Slayers must have a blessed/holy weapon or use holy/blessed magic to permanently destroy a demon. If they kill the physical body of a demon without using one of the aforementioned methods, the demon's soul just teleports back to the portal it came from where it will rest and rebuild its semi-physical body.
The world is a world, somewhat like Earth but not quite, set in medieval times. This means that there will be no guns or cannons. Magic is allowed, but can't be overused.
Blessed/holy weapons and magic aren't exactly easy to come by either. Not every single person in the game will have one, at least not right away. They can be found in ancient monestaries and convents, held captive by hordes and hordes of demons, placed there by demonic bosses, and passed down through generations of demon slayers.
The world is polytheistic, which means there is more than one god, set up in a hierarchy system, with one main god at the top and lesser gods working their way down. There are also many angels. This may affect the plot later in the game. Hasn't been decided yet.
The underworld is set up in the same way. Lucifer is the peak, then it works its way down to even the lowest demon. This will make a difference later in the game.
There are certain people in the world that are living links to the underworld, virtually portals for demons to enter through. Most of these are killed by certain radical sects of demon slayers. Some slayer sects only accept these types of people into their ranks.
If you would like to work in a group, I would recommend working with a group of people from your sect/group. Only under dire circumstances will Sect I and Sect II demon slayers work together, and only under even more dire circumstances will demon catchers be aided or aid demon slayers. They don't like each other. But priests/preistesses can work with whomever they choose, including demon sympathizers.
Currency will be simple in this RP, based on a power 10 system.
