We'll mark this as Idea 1, so when other ideas come up we can clarify which we are referring to. I have another idea, Idea 2: a world of ten dying gods that are waging war upon each other, victor takes the realm. These respective gods are using chosen people as their champions, the players, to wage war in physical form. These ten gods are broken into Arctos and Auro, the twin Gods of Winds, the Goddess of rock Scoplis and the Goddess of metal Ectri, the God of fire Massae and Goddess of magma Accendi, the Goddess of ice Prestrine and God of water Lacos. Basically there are two gods representing each of the five core elements. Exactly how gods are aligned, allied, or opposed, I haven't decided. This is the raw form; it'll need embellishment as well.

Well I'm better at races and stuff then plots. But for your idea about Gods while cool, I'm more into gods that represent concepts and ideas more then just elements. Such as of wisdom, strength, discipline, compassion, etc. And they would be fighting to forge the realm based on there own philosophy rather then element. The player characters would range from people who happened to be chosen based on their actions, to monks dedicated solely to such things.

Lacos- Willpower, Hope
Of course this is all very malleable at this point.

I think discipline fits best with wisdom.
I put discipline with the god of rock, because it sounds the best. I'll just switch them around.
