    Why?

Is it that a great writer types out his detailed and intriguing plot, but is beat out by a 'pairing' so to speak, posted in an IC by another user? For example, 'vampire x werewolf'. When most of the time, they don't even have a plot for the pairing RP. I have honestly thought about this, and the only conclusion I can come up with is that it's because some people don't like commitment.

    What do you think?

Where is that thing Dudel/Kestrel would post about 'People like X' that's why, when you need it.

I'm asking why it is that a writer who takes the time to think up a plot and broadcast it, is left partnerless. While the people who post pairings (without any thought or plot) are given multiple offers. It's nothing against those people, I'm just curious as to why people prefer pairings over complicated plots.

If you're asking why plot isn't important (which I think is what you're getting at...) Brovo made a thread here recently explaining it nicely.

Oh, so like, in terms of 1x1's?

Well that should be pretty simple. People asking for a pairing partner get one because that's exactly what they're asking for. Also, hate to break it to you, but 1x1 is almost entirely romance RP's. If you want people who are more focused on plot/concept, I suggest you try group RP's. You're more likely to find what you want.

Well, my RP's have romance, though it certainly isn't the only thing intermixed. I almost always have an element of horror and adventure. Also, I'm not looking for something short term, which is why I've stopped responding to pairings. Group RP doesn't neccesarily appeal to me because the ones I've been involved in, die quickly and the players don't have the same goals. I was just curious to see what people thought, so thank you for the link and opinions.

1st: If you lost a player to a "Vampire X Werewolf" you're the winning party.
2nd: As I understand it 1x1 has a very short attention span.

Yes, you're probably right on the first one.

It seems 1 x 1 has a bad reputation with group RPers, no? I prefer long term, but it does take a lot to find the right partner. I have found more than a few, though it's disheartening when someone prefers generic pairings over the plot I made up.

Seems to me like you've just had bad luck with group RP's. They definitely seem like they'd fit your interests better, though. If you're upset by pairing RP's winning over the RP's with plot and concept, then 1x1 isn't the place for you. Because you'll see a lot of that in 1x1.

I'll admit, with group RP's, it can be trickier to find the right crowd of people, not just because you're RPing with more people but just because there are more people out there, but, it'll be a lot easier to make an RP where the genre is not purely romance and have it be recognized.
