Final Souls (Angel & Squall)

[Angel Steel]

Hitomi sat her desk, fiddling with a locket her father had given her as a child. Lately she had to help her father with the royal duties and it was getting boring. Not long after she put the locket back around her neck did she hear a loud knock on the door. "Princess Hitomi? Your father has summoned you. There is something you must aid him with. Please hurry to the royal chambers." A woman said from behind the door, her voice calm and soft. "Yes Kira, I shall go right now. Thank you." The princess replied as she stood, letting out a sigh as she walked out of her room and down the long halls of the castle. As she walked through the halls a few guards and knights waved and wished her a good day, getting both in reply. Hitomi liked being a princess but she hated the fact that there wasn't much she could do. The king would let her take part in the knight's training every now and then but that was it. When she finally reached the royal chamber she stopped, not sure if she really wanted to go in out not. With a loud sigh she pushed open the door and stepped inside, bowing as she got to the bottom of the steps in front of her father. "Good day father. You summoned me?" She asked looking up at him, getting the big 'my little princess' smile she always got. "Yes my dear. I would like you to aid me in knighting a squire today. If you are to take my place you much know how this is done." He explained, standing as his sword fell to his side. "Come dear, I shall introduce you to the squire and then I shall show you how one is knighted." He added taking his daughter gently by the hand, leading her to a man who was kneeling down, ready to be knighted. She wanted to ask why he looked so stiff but ignored it and focused on her father. "Young man, for your skills and bravery I hereby dub thee Sir Kite Alaster, Defender of the Kingdom and Royal Protector. Arise Knight." The king said placing the blade of his sword on both of the man's shoulders as he spoke. When he was finished the king turned to his daughter and smiled. "That my dear is how you knight a Squire. When you take my place you must do it exactly as I did. Do you understand?" He asked putting a hand on her shoulder, awaiting her answer. "Yes father, I understand. I shall do it as you have." She replied, saying exactly what she knew he wanted to hear even though she really wanted to go practice her swords-play and aim with her bow and arrows.

Kite had arrived to the kingdom and into the king's throne room early showing his eagerness to become a knight he had been in the kneeling position for about ten minutes before the princess had come into the room he looked at her from the corner of his eye she looked to be as beautiful as he had heard when the king took the sword out he knew he was about to be knighted. After Kite arose shifting his sword that was strapped to his side into a more comfortable position he asked "my liege what shall be my first duty as a knight?" he had just gotten his knight armor today and it was already stuffy but he was glad to have it his dream of becoming a knight had finally come true he now would work to become the strongest knight in the kingdom as he had promised his friend before they had been killed by bandits who had raided his small town on the outskirts of the kingdom Kite got a better look at the princess now that he was standing up

The king laughed at the knight's eagerness, only to hold up a hand to him. "Patients boy. You don't get to go on missions that quickly. Besides, the kingdom is in no danger at the moment. Hitomi, why don't you show this young man to the training grounds? I'm sure you both could use a bit of training." The king said patting his daughter's head before walking off to a room near the back. With a sigh the princess turned to the new knight, giving him a warm smile. "Hello knight. My name is Hitomi. Might I ask what yours is?" She asked taking his hand and lead him out of the chamber, waiting for his answer. As they walked a servant boy handed her a bow and quiver. "Thank you Collen. Hope your day is good." She said getting a welcome and yes ma'am in reply.

Kite understood though he was kinda hoping for a mission but he could wait he waited this long. Kite bowed "Of course" he returned her smile as she took his hand "my name is Kite my lady" he was quite surprised by how friendly the servants were he couldn't wait to train to prove his skills to the king and to prove he was ready for a mission at any time Kite looked at the training grounds he knew one thing he would have to learn how to use a shield... he had only trained to use a sword thanks to him being a blacksmith's son though he never thought to use a shield till now

Hitomi smiled when he told her his name. "You are a knight now, you may call me Hitomi if you wish." She said as they entered the training grounds. There were a few old knights there and all bowed and welcomed the princess. "Thank you, but today I'm here as your student.. Along with this new knight. Can you teach him a few things Sir Trumond?" She asked getting a nod from the oldest knight. "Yes, I can teach him a few things. Will you be practicing your bow and arrow today?" The knight replied, knowing she was as soon as he saw her bow and quiver on her shoulder.

Kite was ready to train he took his fighting position and drew his sword he wasn't sure if they would be using training swords or not but he doubt it that was for Squires usually he looked at Sir Trumond 'may my blade be sharp' he waited until Trumond replied with the ready motion that he was accustomed to and Kite charged at the night slashing his sword towards the right Trumond easily deflected the blow and disarmed him just with his shield "you have much to learn for one you should've asked for a shield cause if this was a real battle you'd be dead right now Sir..." "Kite" he replied "alright lets try that again this time with a shield Kite took a shield that was to his liking after he picked up his sword and cleaned it of any dust that might've gathered onto it they then took up fighting positions again Kite charged once again and about the same thing happened only Kite got lucky with the shield he managed by a miracle to disarm Sir Trumond so they were only shield and shield "I'm impressed you managed to disarm me as well... no one has managed to do that with their second skirmish" Kite didn't reply he only held his shield up in a defensive position ready for a shield bash if it were to happen "smart not to let your guard down but this round is a draw lets do this again"

Hitomi moved off to the side, looking back at the knights ever now and then. With a soft laugh she put an arrow on her bow, aimed and fired, hitting the target four inches from the center. "Very well done my lady. You are getting quiet good at this. One day you will be as good as your father or I." One of the other knights said, getting a bow from the princess. "Why thank you. I want to hit the middle though, it's harder then it looks." She pouted as the knight stepped up behind her. "Here princess, feel the wind? Aim the arrow this way more, let it glide to the right on the wind.. That's it, now pull back, good.. Aanndd... Let go." He said as she let go of the arrow. It flew through the air and hit right in the middle of the target. "Yay! Thank you so much! You truly are a wonderful archer." She said hugging the knight tightly, a wide smile on her face. "You are most welcome princess. I am glad I was able to teach you. Not many royals, specially women, wish to learn to be an archer." He laughed hugging her back. She let go and turned to the new knight, laughing at how devoted he looked. "You need to relax a bit Kite, you'll get hurt if you are too serious around here." She said poking his side, making the other knight laugh and smile.

Kite blushed a bit "y-yes my lady" he said bowing to her. He felt a bit silly for being so serious about his training she was right he needed to relax but he just didn't want to screw up his first day though he had showed lots of promise with his fighting skills he looked at Hitomi for the first time directly in the eyes she had beautiful eyes they weren't kidding when they said the princess could stun normal men just with a look
