    Nation RP Warfare Help

    Hey everyone,
    I just recently joined my first Nation RP, and while I am very comfortable with writing my posts I'm wondering how warfare will be handled between nations. The nation's have no specific quantitative value to their military units (such as HP) beyond basic unit size. I'm assuming that this would mean all combat would have to be logic based, but could anyone expand on how mechanics like that would work? Any examples on RPG would also be greatly appreciated.

    I'm Kadaeux, one of the sites premier nation RP GMs, though mine do have a bit more rules background than most here.

    Depending on the GM it can happen several ways.

    The first, and easiest, on both GM and player is if the players in question mutually agree how its going to go down, whats going to happen within the rules etc. In cases like these things are much easier.
    The second, and more taxing on the GM, is the players in question asking the GM to determine roughly how it'll go down and they can RP it out between one another.
    The third, and most taxing on the GM and players, but also the most fun, is for the involved players and the GM to get into a live chat of some kind and "roll it out" allowing luck of the dice to play its part.

    However one should remember basics. If someones 10 tank divisions are up against a sniper in a watchtower with a 'sniper here' sign over it then, well, I should hope that the outcome would be fairly obvious (and messy).

    If there is anything more specific feel free to ask. But I do warn that my responses are coloured by my own Nation RP style and other GMs might have other rules.

    If you could provide a link we could look into how the style of the RP so far which would help. One thing people new to NRPs do that is a mistake is treat is as a strategy game like Total War so unless that is explicitly stated generally you go off a comparison type thing, if you send a tank regiment against several battalions of dug in infantry and the person's nation describes a high ratio of anti-armor weapons then naturally the armor gets shredded. Things will of course get more complex but it is mostly a comparison between the nation's, their forces brought to bear, and the forces involved then try to use logic and reasoning to decide how things go as each side also describes the tactics they employ in the scenario. Personally I am not a fan of rolling for the outcome of battles or things like that which should rely more on the tactics each side uses.

    Edit: I assume you are talking about UMBRA ALICAJUS IMPERII so upon looking at it warfare would be something like nation 1 moves 50,000 men into the lands of nation 2, nation 2 decides to fall back some distance from the border sacrificing land for time to muster more of it's army eventually deploying 70,000 infantry in a plains area with woods of either side. Nation 1 is basically viking types, heavy infantry though do not fight in formation and are irregular in combat, nation 2 is roman like they employ solid heavy infantry in formation with auxiliaries of various kinds. Nation 2 deploys the core of their forces in the center of fields with auxiliaries in the woods. Nation 1 attacks the enemy there trying to win before more forces arrive, 10,000 on each flank with 30,000 striking the center. This is where you really compare your forces, on the flanks in the woods Nation 1 would have the advantage but in the field the formation troops of Nation 2 have the advantage in technique and numbers unless Nation 1 has some great ace in the hole type thing so you both RP out the epic battle kind of decide between yourselves with possibly GM help on how it goes, if the Nation 2 auxiliaries hold long enough or if the Nation 1 heavy infantry smash them then strike the formation's flanks and route the entire army.
