Jesenia The Assassin [A story I am working on.]

    Prologue:

I go by many names. The Wicked One. The Rose of Death. Beautiful poison. Those are just a few of the names that my clients call me. Sara. Celestina. Hannah. A couple of my aliases. My true name is Jesenia Alvarez. I was just an innocent every day small child running errands for a busy mother. But that's where I made my mistake. I should have just stayed home. Ignored my mother's constant nagging. But let's just get on with this story. I don't have much time. They're looking for me. I need to hurry.

It was a beautiful bright morning. Children's laughter was ringing all around as parents and merchants bartered about trades. A small girl made her way to the bakery, roughly about the age of four or five. She was the eldest of her siblings. As she made her way to the bakery, people's heads turned and eyebrows raised. Jesenia, the small girl, was well known for her beauty but even better known for her anti-socialism. Jesenia usually busied herself at home, avoiding others at all costs, so it was a surprise to see her prancing around town. As she entered the bakery, waving at the baker and exchanged a small timid smile before she came up and placed the several gold coins her mother had given. The stunning white walls were also stingingly bright to her dark purple eyes. Jesenia squinted up at the baker as he nodded and hurriedly went to get the bread.

Jesenia sauntered out of the bakery, already stuffing a small piece of bread in her mouth. The absorption of the bread dried her mouth out and she found the dry uncomfortable feeling gnawed at her and annoyed her to no end. Not knowing much better she began to go around asking for a spare coin, knowing that her mother would not approve her spending more money then she needed to spend. A tall man stood in an alley way with a plain black hood Ana cloak covering his face. "Little girl. Water is what you want, am I correct? He asked, looking towards her as he knelt down a took a canteen out from under his cloak. "Mommy told me to never take things other then money from strangers." Jesenia's small voice echoed off the two walls surrounding them. "Come now little one. I'm sure that you're thirsty. Just take it." His raspy voice cooed. The small girl's restraint deteriorated quickly as she took the canteen and began to take several large gulps. A strange fuzzy feeling began to radiate all over her body. "I-I feel funny...." Jesenia whined quietly. Her knees felt like jelly as she tried to stay standing up. Everything she saw was vague and hazy, simply blurred shapes. Suddenly she felt a strong urge to drop down an sleep as she began to faint, falling backwards and into unconsciousness.

[Author's note: Please bear with the mistakes. I use a phone so its kinda hard to even write this much....]

    --------------------------------

The sky was a dark black dotted with the twinkling white stars. It resembled an ocean with the many swimming fish to some people. Others, it was just the sky. To Jesenia, it was her signal for work. Night was the perfect cover for her to go unnoticed. It also fit well with the 'job' she had been given not even an hour ago. Her higher ups never told her what her assignments and targets were until the last minute, in fear information could be leaked if given to earlier. But Jesenia would never, EVER do anything bad for the brotherhood. It was all she had ever known. It was the one place she felt special, not only being the top assassin there but also being the only girl there. Her loyalty was never ending to them. She would be there til the day she died. Or so she thought.

The deed was done. Quick and easy. In Jesenia's opinion, a bit too easy. All she had to do was manage some way to get into his chambers and once in there, simply sneak behind him and slit hos throat. A mess indeed, but it wasn't her problem to clean up the blood. But it didn't make any sense. Her target was an extremely wealthy business owner. The man had more debts than staff. Wouldn't he figure that there would be a couple people after his head? He was so seemingly unaware. Sure, he was a total bitch to his servants but so...unprotected. Well whatever the case, Jesenia simply wanted to get home and crawl underneath her covers for a long time needed sleep. Her thoughts seemed to keep coming back to the business man it seemed though.....

As the black haired beauty curved around the last bend of hills to the guild she stopped dead in her tracks. Smoke. It was billowing into the sky endlessly. And what caused smoke? That's right. Fire. "No. No. No no no no no." Jesenia muttered as she began to sprint down the rocky path. Her heart was beating furiously as her mind came up with excuses for the smoke. Maybe someone had used the old and forgotten fire pit. Or the furnace was broken again. The guild wasn't burning to ground into a big pile of nothing but ashes. It couldn't be. It shouldn't be. But it was. And thats exactly what Jesenia came face to face with as she reached the used to be pathway. "No.....No.....No......" She repeated as she slowly began to walk towards the crumbling, and still burning remains. Embers swirled all around her and the heat was stingingly hot. It seemed to have no effect on the young adult as she fell to her knees. Her arms laid, unmoving at her sides, the horribly big claws still on. Jesenia's heart seemed to have been broken into a thousand pieces and stepped on til the pieces turned into nothing but dust. An Assassin shouldn't feel things like this, leave there guard down. But how could she help it? The only thing she had ever known laid burning into nothingness in front of her. That's when the tears began to slowly spill over her waterline. Slowly, she pulled her hands out of the protective onyx claws. With the gentleness of a mother touching their new born baby, she reached down and picked up a hand full of the still burning ashes. The pain was unbearable as the hot embers burned inside her hand before she opened her hand again, letting the ashes scatter as the wind carried them away. The flames slowly began to die down as Jesenia sat there. Seconds passed. Minutes. Then hours. It was early morning and the sun was beginning to rise yet she still sat, in the same position. The fires had died down to nothing, leaving the empty shells and frames in their place. Her home was gone.

[Author's note: So Yup. I know this seems like an odd way to probably start this story but I figured it was needed to know so it would explain why she left the guild. PS Jesenia is 17 right now ]
